Welcome to Backwoods Cabin Co. We have two unique glamping cabins available on our property located on the outskirts of Tweed and Madoc. The perfect spot to unwind, relax, and snuggle by the wood stove.
There is a loop trail that goes around the entire 11 acres of land. There are markers along the trail so you know the boundaries of the area
My family and I live on the property, we are here if you need anything urgently. We do spend a lot of time outside so the odd time you might hear our kids playing. We do have 2 VERY friendly dogs named Copper and Chief who might bark at you when you pull into the driveway but are on an electric fence so cannot get back to the cabin. We also have an outdoor cat named Wessie that may come and say hello.

This property was part of an old homestead and as such I am still finding things so please respect the caution tape. Some finds are treasures (European Grapes, Bergamot, French Roses, Asparagus, Rhubarb, Ramps, Fiddle-heads) and others not so much. I am re purposing what I can and collecting the rest for disposal as I nurture this land back to what it was meant to be, paradise. There is an outdoor shower available as well. Our property has 2 camping cabins located on 40 acres across the road from a beautiful waterfall. Each rental has its own private outhouse, picnic table, campfire pit and solar power. An outside shower room, flush toilet and common lounge with complimentary coffee and wifi is also available on site.
There are marked walking trails on the property and at nearby conservation areas. Plenty to do on the grounds and within a 30 min drive, including sightseeing Prince Edward County, or checking out historic Kingston and Belleville. Wifi is available on the grounds at the lounge and gazebo, a short walk from the cabins.
We have campfire wood available on site for $10/tote. Each tote contains paper, lighter, kindling and enough firewood to last hours into the night. Simply request at check in and we will deliver it to your cabin.

A small, unassuming cabin located on top of a solid granite rock formation near the village of Tweed, only 10 minutes drive from town but it feels like you're away from it all. If you're looking for a solitude, this is the place.
It is a private cozy cabin situated on top of a hill on a 3/4 of an acre lot which is all granite.
You have to walk up the hill/rock for about 45 seconds from the driveway to get to the cabin, there are some landscaped stairs.
There are 4-5 parking spaces for vehicles.
Its a basic cabin, with a bathroom, kitchen and running water.
Drinking water is provided in an 18L container with an electronic spout/tap for drinking and cooking use during your stay. You can bring your own additional water in containers. The 18L container can be refilled at the local grocery store (10 mins away) for $3.
There is hydro in the cabin, space heaters, interior and exterior lighting, extension cords and lamps.
There is a kitchen with an electric stove, oven, microwave, espresso and coffee makers, kitchen essentials, utensils, pots and pans.
There is a propane BBQ, and a fire pit for your use.
There is ample firewood on site for you to use, and we have a fire permit for the year.
Common use dock and small boat, kayak, canoe launch is about 1 minute walking distance across the street, this dock is on the Moira river which leads into the bigger Stoco Lake.
Vanderwater Conservation area is a few minutes away. There are lots of country roads for biking. The Moira river is great for fishing, paddling and boating.
Cabin has a sofa which converts to a pull-out double bed, one single/twin size bed with fitted sheets, and two rollaway twin size cots. All beds have fitted sheets. You have to bring your own linens, blankets, comforters and pillows. You can also bring sleeping bags and put them on top of the beds if that's your preference.
There is a stereo system with aux-in cables and bluetooth receiver to connect to the headphone jack on your phones to play music.

In the vicinity are great areas for hiking, canoeing, biking, and discovering the attractions of the Rideau canal system and the watersheds that feed it. There is excellent local food shopping in the area, and attractive small villages offer unique shopping opportunities.
To get to the cabin involves a climbing 30 woodland steps up the back of the hill, and following a 200 meter path. As a quasi-off-grid tiny house, KOTP has AC power available to run the fridge, induction cooktop, other appliances and your computer. Solar power and a backup generator are also available if needed. The lights and the water pumps are 12v. The interior sink serves drinking water from 5 gallon jugs refilled from our filtered water supply at the nearby house.
KOTP has a gorgeous soapstone propane heater that provides a great ambiance and comfort if the weather gets damp or chilly. On the deck outside is a propane barbeque and an outdoor sink that is fed from a 50 gallon rain barrel. We use this to do the dishes outside. The rain barrel also feeds an outdoor shower. The toilet is a composting unit that lives in the shed at the back of the cabin.
A rustic path leads to the waterfront which is shared with the other cottage on the property. The waterfront features a large shallow sandy swimming area, a spacious floating dock, and access to various small watercraft including kayaks, canoes, rowboats, and Sunfish sailboats.

Bring your motorized boat to get to the islands or if you are an experienced kayaker or canoeing you can leave from Ivy lea 3.5 or Rockport 7.5 km.
Boats can be rented from Ivy Lea Marina and Rockport Ontario Marina. Boats should be less than 24 feet.

This was our 2nd time at Riverbend Grayotter cabin. We wanted to be in a calm, natural, grounded and magical place to Thank 2025 for the valuable lessons, leaving behind what needs to be left behind, what to carry forward and to set New intentions for 2026.
No Better Place than Riverbend!
Mother Nature greeted us generously offering every shade of her weather; freezing rain, a sunny morning that ended with an afternoon blizzard, snow crunched walks on trails and around the flowing river with ice formations, days with big fluffy snowflakes and outdoor fires under starry skies with a luminous moon. Maise(our dog) also enjoyed being free to roam and explore the wintery weather. Grayotter Cabin protected us from the elements and we stayed warm and cozy by the wood stove. There was plenty of fire wood and lots of snow to melt for washing dishes.
Riverbend and the wonders of Mother Naure treated us to a Winter Wonderland! We would definitely come again in the winter!
It was another amazing and magical adventure at Riverbend Grayotter Cabin.
We got to meet Katrina and Graham which was an added bonus to our trip!

Great cozy little cabin. Amazing views of the river and lake. Great to explore with the dog and go on a trek through the nearby woods. Private and secluded. Directions were easy to follow. Cabin has everything you need that's listed.

Natalie's bunkie is a truly magical place! The cabin itself is so cozy and thoughtfully provisioned with everything you could need all season round, from practical supplies like cutlery and cookware and a wood-burning stove to keep you warm on cool autumn nights to board games and paperback books and even a portable DVD player for makeshift movie screenings, if you can peel your eyes away from the view of the starry night sky.
The bunkie sits on a scenic body of water and a waterfall that make for great canoeing and swimming or admiring over morning coffee, and the rest of Natalie's property is bursting with whimsical art installments as well as gardens, fire pits, fairy lights, and fields of flowers.
My partner and I have visited twice - in the summer and the in the fall - and have found each season and each stay so uniquely gorgeous and relaxing. If you are looking for a place to retreat from the noise of the world, the bunkie is perfect. Natalie is so warm and welcoming and has put so much care and attention into providing people with a home away from home.

Weekend Trip to Riverbend
We had a wonderful time at this cabin! Our dog loved exploring the trails and spending time down near the water. We saw so much wildlife and the fall colours were beautiful. As always the cabin was ready for us when we arrived and Katrina & Graham were great hosts. We will be back!

This location was everything and more that was described. The lot was bigger than expected and the setup was amazing. While it was just the 2 of us there were many little spots within our site to sit and take in the nature around us. From the bumble bees to the massive amount of birds to the amazing beaver. The spot was very well stocked. We definitely over packed. My only complaint was we weren't there long enough. We will definitely be going back.

We absolutely loved our stay at Judy’s Yurt! From the moment we arrived, Judy’s kindness and warm welcome made us feel right at home. The property is truly special — peaceful, private, and filled with natural beauty.
The yurt itself was clean, cozy, and very comfortable, giving us the perfect balance of rustic charm and relaxation. We especially enjoyed the sauna, which was such a treat after a day outdoors. The natural swimming pond was refreshing and serene, and the separate pond full of turtles and wildlife was magical to sit by — it felt like stepping into a little nature sanctuary.
Judy’s property is a place where you can completely unwind, reconnect with nature, and enjoy a unique experience you won’t find anywhere else. The time we spent here was absolutely worth it, and we left feeling refreshed and grateful. We would highly recommend Judy’s Yurt to anyone looking for a peaceful getaway and can’t wait to come back ourselves!

I love Riverbend. Such a magical place. The cabin is sweet and simple and has everything you need, but it's really the land. This morning I swam in the cold river water as two herons flew overhead and the fall leaves glowed around me. Magic. Weekend Trip to Riverbend
Will book again. The cabin is beautifully done, inviting and peaceful. Care can be seen in every aspect. From the many chairs placed around the property giving you a stunning view to the screened in gazebo and over look at the waters edge. The water was low when I was there, but it provided the opportunity to walk among the rock bottom of the river! The wildlife was also abundant, and we caught a few glimpses of the Grey Otter!
The hosts were helpful, kind and make every effort for their guests.

There are not enough words to describe Katrina and Graham's Grayotter cabin at Riverbend...tranquil, serene, calm, peaceful, quiet and restful are just a few! The cabin is quaint and cozy and has everything you need to be comfortable. Riverbend is beautiful and has several locations to sit, ground, breathe and admire the great gifts of nature and Mother Earth. We saw the blue herons, blue jays, frogs, catepillars, bees pollinating, humming bird, dragonflies and a beaver swimming in the pond. The river was low so we missed the rapids but will definitely be back to experience that another time. There was a fireband but we brought our propane fire bowl, watched the evening sky and laid on cots outside to see the stars. It was all just so breathtaking, grounding and relaxing and we couldn't have picked a better or more amazing place to celebrate our 42nd wedding anniversary which may now become a yearly thing. We had the luxury of 6 nights but we will definitely book longer on our next visit!! You guys have found a piece of paradise and you're kind enough to share it with others and I know we are very appreciative and grateful! Thank you Katrina and Graham for sharing your paradise and being amazing hosts!!

This was my first Hipcamp experience, and Natalie has set the bar extremely high. She is a fantastic host - wonderful to deal with and very responsive. The Heron Bunkie was immaculate, and had everything you could need including a great little fridge, lights, a small wood stove (and wood), comfy bed and little touches like coffee (plus a coffee maker with filters) and ice cubes ready to go. The setting was lovely, despite the drier than normal conditions - peaceful. Multiple blue heron sightings, too, and a mystery critter in the pond. (She supplies binoculars!) Having coffee sitting on the generous deck was a treat, as was dinners prepared on the bbq. Amazingly, there were very few mosquitoes, so sitting outside to read or have a beverage was truly enjoyable. Being away from any city, the stargazing was stellar, too. My pup was made to feel really welcome, and she started to look for Natalie daily. All in all, a lovely, relaxing experience. Thank you so much, Natalie. You're the best. Not a surprise that Ginny didn't want to get out of the car when we got home!

The best part of this site was how hospitable Jo & Chris were, they checked in a few times to make sure that we had everything we needed throughout our stay. The site itself was beautiful and the bunkie had everything we needed for the perfect off grid camping experience, especially the five star poop house. We also quite enjoyed getting to run around with their very cute and friendly dogs!

Weekend Trip to Backwoods Cabins
What an incredible location right by the river! Very peaceful and private. It was wonderful having the fireplace inside to keep cozy and the cabin itself had everything we needed, even power! We brought our kayaks and were able to paddle in the river beside the cabin which was wonderful. We purchased day passes at Bon Echo Provincial Park to not only explore the park and go paddling, but also to use their shower facilities, which was great! I would say the outhouse was the only weak point as it was indeed the stinky pit style (not the pleasant wood chip composting kind). If you’re alright with that, then this place is perfect and I would highly recommend it! We definitely look forward to going back!!

The cabin itself has a rustic charm and offered a simple getaway from the city. Communication with Malissa was straightforward and she was attentive to any questions I had. Weekend Trip to Cabin in the Woods
My husband and I and our dog thoroughly enjoyed our weekend. The bunky was very cozy. The view was amazing.

3 nights at Riverbend
We LOVEDDDDD this place . So peaceful , so secluded!! Our dogs had a BLAST. I won’t even lie, we booked it for our dogs to be able to be off leash and run free, and it’s the absolute perfect spot for it. It was beyond clean, comfortable and cute !!!! The dock is perfect for swimming and the river is clean! A whole kitchen set up, which is amazing ,and some hydro too! We will deff be back next summer!! Also town is very close considering how deep into the woods you are, Madoc is an adorable little town! We can’t wait to come back
