Welcome to Cedar Creek Forest Camping! Voted second best campsite in Canada in 2021 and ranked number 2 in Ontario in 2022. I have 97 acres of very private camping. The forest is a bird watcher’s and nature lover’s paradise. I have developed miles of flat groomed trails and a 3-acre pond (plus several bush ponds). The sites are spread around the pond and are close but not right beside it. There is an abundant amount of wildlife to explore: birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, insects and mammals call this home. There is a small swimming hole on the island but otherwise the pond is full of aquatic life. The sites and trails are maintained all year long and the forest is quiet and beautiful. I have planted over 3000 trees with the help of the Severn Sound Environmental Association. The forest is registered as a managed woodlot with the province and habitat preservation/restoration is the priority goal. Please DO NOT bring firewood for your visit. I have large bags of cured firewood that was sustainable harvested from the forest available. Invasive insects and disease can be transferred from imported wood. Guests are welcome to quietly explore the forest trails but are asked to stay on the trail. Many birds and animals nest in the forest. My campsite is family-friendly (and pet-friendly), and 420 friendly too. Guests can easily drive up to and park at all campsites. My camp site is tolerant and respectful of all humans, animals and things. The Yurtle structures were built from Hemlock trees that were cut from this forest and processed into boards, then engineered into unique camping huts. Large windows capture the glory of the surrounding forest and sun sets, while wood stoves warm campers on those cold days/nights. Wonderful setup and lovely location. Up on a hill surrounded by trees giving lots of privacy. Great clean and cozy outhouse/washroom facility. Lots of seating provided with brand new picnic tables for adults and kids. I am an avid kayaker and the Black River is just steps away. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay and hope to be back again.

2 nights at Waterfield Ridge

It was a great spot to pitch a tent and unwind after a few days of fishing some Haliburton lakes. Easy to get to and Jennifer was a great and helpful host. The location is very scenic with the marsh and pond nearby and beautiful tall woods surrounding the site. We didn't get to meet Jennifer (we were too busy fishing all day) but she kept in contact and provided firewood as needed. The only downside I could think of was the barbecue on site didn't seem to have any propane, which was no big deal. We brought our own and actually didn't even know there would be one provided. The outhouse was a bit rustic, but for two guys living off the land it was a luxury to have a toilet at all. Lol. Would definitely go back!

Weekend Trip to Three Ponds Homestead

We had an amazing time here. Wendi is super friendly and thoughtful, she checked what we needed and reminded us about the cold. The horse experience was the best part. Grooming them felt so calming and the horses are beautiful and very friendly. The firewood amount is really generous and lasts a long time. The campsite is spacious with lots of privacy. At night it was perfect for stargazing, I saw so many stars and even a few shooting stars. The toilet is very clean and everything here feels well cared for. I also admire how much Wendi and her family have built in just a few years, they are really living my dream life. Overall this was way better than camping in a provincial park. Highly recommend and I will definitely come back.

We, three moms looking for a little escape, couldn’t have picked a more perfect spot for our fall weekend. From the moment we arrived, everything about this place felt quietly magical. The setting is absolutely beautiful—peaceful, natural, restorative. The rustle of autumn leaves, crisp fresh air, and unspoiled surroundings made it easy to slow down and breathe. It’s rare to find somewhere so serene, where you can truly unwind. The host was thoughtful and attentive in all the right ways. The tent was comfortable and well-prepared; everything was clean, cared for, and exactly what we needed. The out houses were immaculate—so well kept that they felt more like a pleasant surprise than an afterthought. We left feeling refreshed, reconnected, and inspired. Tent camping at Three Ponds was such a lovely experience! The directions to our site were clear and easy to follow, and it was a real treat to have a camp fire and sleep outdoors following our trip to the Rama Pow Wow. The property is gorgeous, and has everything one needs for a comfortable stay. We opted to meet the horses the next morning, and it was so worth it! They were all such sweet and lovely creatures, and Wendi made it such a calm and informative experience! Checking out the peaceful koi pond afterwards was also lovely; would absolutely recommend to friends/ return again!

Weekend Trip to Waterfield Ridge

This site is perfect for those passing through Halliburton, or just wanting a getaway from the city and connecting with nature. I only stayed 1 night with my biker friends, so we rode to the site. Site is extremely easy to find, and we are just a short trip to the main town for groceries or restaurants. The night time is where it really brings out the beauty of this site. The trees make a perfect vignette to the night sky, and we spent HOURS stargazing. Our host Jennifer was a saint! She’s super responsive! The only rough part was riding through the gravel/dirt roads, but that is nothing to be worried about. If you’re a good rider, you’ll manage. Highly recommend!

Great spot !! Very quiet, private and relaxing. We loved spending time on the porch rocking chairs. Bed is very comfortable, as is the futon. The outdoor shower worked out great. Cari provided us with a perfect amount of water. All questions were answered promptly. We ventured out to local spots including Santa’s village, Port Sydney Falls, Tall Trees restaurant and Bellys ice cream in Huntsville. Nice middle spot between Huntsville and Bracebridge. Highly recommend !!

Lake Muskoka

Surrounded by charming cottages and campsites, Lake Muskoka is known for coldwater swimming and steam-boat cruises. Dive into the lake for a swim or take out a canoe, kayak, or jet ski. Anglers can set up for fishing—the lake is home to trout, largemouth bass, and walleye. Walk along Huckleberry Rock Lookout Trail around the lake. Winter campers can also snowboard and ski in designated areas like Gravenhurst Nordic. Nearby campgrounds and RV parks with electric and water hookups make it easy to access the lake (some are situated on the lake itself). Many feature equipment rentals and supply shops as well.

Jevins and Silver Lake Conservation Reserve

Jevins and Silver Lake Conservation Reserve brims with ponds, wetlands, and bogs as well as rare flora and fauna like the five-lined skink—the province’s only native lizard. It also features the Jevins and Silver Lake Trail that’s popular with hikers and backpackers who want to explore red oak and white pine forests. In winter, the trail is used for snowmobiling.

Hardy Lake Provincial Park and Trail

Hardy Lake Provincial Park is full of forested landscapes, lakes, and trails, like its popular three-mile Hardy Lake Loop Trail. It is moderately challenging with its descents and steep ascents, but the effort is worth it to see outcrops and sprawling lake views.
