Learn more about this land:Welcome to The Naked Mitrewort! The site is located on the scrubby shores of North Frontenac's only Provincially Significant Wetland: Mud Lake. The wetland is part of Ontario's Mississippi River system, which stretches 200km from Mackavoy Lake to the Ottawa River. The wetland is a hotspot for biodiversity and indigenous history and is located just outside of the hamlet of Ardoch.This would be a great stopover site for a cyclist exploring North Frontenac's looping roads or for anyone who was unable to book a site at some of the more popular provincial parks like Bon Echo, Sharbot and Silver Lakes, or Frontenac. The terrain between the water and campsite is low, moist and scrubby with many trees that have fallen as a result of a big storm a few years ago. I just bought this property in Oct. 2020 and have done very few improvements since then (I have exciting things planned though!). There is an outhouse for your bathroom needs as well as a little platform near the water, but there isn't a clear path to the water yet, so tread carefully. The platform (and outhouse actually...) is on its way to being rotten, but it's good enough for a few chairs, but not a tent.  There is also a little swimming hole on the nearby crown land which would require swimming shoes or socks (sharp rocks), but it's a pretty neat place to snorkel as there is still evidence of the river's logging legacy. This spot is even more difficult to access but I will make a path eventually. The site is a little close to the road, so you will hear occasional vehicles driving by as well as other human activities in the distance, but it is generally a very peaceful location. You will have to forage for firewood, but there is no shortage of it as you will see. Keep fires small and, although it is very satisfying, please don't push over rotten snags (dead standing trees), these are important for woodpeckers and other creatures! Same with flowers, let's just take pictures and not pick them, some may not grow back! As you can see, I have a lot of work ahead of me making paths, clearing the view, etc. If you have chainsaw experience (or, even better, sawmill! or both!) and want to clear some deadfall in exchange for a spot to camp or park your RV (no hookup) for a weekend or week, send me a message and we can discuss possibilities. It doesn't always have to be cold hard cash. I am open to any ideas that would fit into this sort of description.Because this is still such a rustic site, I am offering you complimentary day passes to Lancaster's Resort on Mississagagon Lake. Here you will have access to the shower, washrooms, beach, trails, wifi, boat launch, kayak and canoe rentals ($25 per vessel per day) and more. Parking is at the lodge, just provide me with your licence plate number and that'll be all you need to enjoy the resort's amenities.There is a public boat launch for the Mississippi River right at the bridge - 4 mins drive heading northeast on River Rd. - limited parking.And in case you are wondering, The Naked Mitrewort takes its name from Mitella nuda, a tiny unassuming perennial plant found in wet riparian forests throughout Canada and the US and is abundant around the property.I look forward to hosting you!

Learn more about this land:Welcome to The Naked Mitrewort! The site is located on the scrubby shores of North Frontenac's only Provincially Significant Wetland: Mud Lake. The wetland is part of Ontario's Mississippi River system, which stretches 200km from Mackavoy Lake to the Ottawa River. The wetland is a hotspot for biodiversity and indigenous history and is located just outside of the hamlet of Ardoch.This would be a great stopover site for a cyclist exploring North Frontenac's looping roads or for anyone who was unable to book a site at some of the more popular provincial parks like Bon Echo, Sharbot and Silver Lakes, or Frontenac. The terrain between the water and campsite is low, moist and scrubby with many trees that have fallen as a result of a big storm a few years ago. I just bought this property in Oct. 2020 and have done very few improvements since then (I have exciting things planned though!). There is an outhouse for your bathroom needs as well as a little platform near the water, but there isn't a clear path to the water yet, so tread carefully. The platform (and outhouse actually...) is on its way to being rotten, but it's good enough for a few chairs, but not a tent.  There is also a little swimming hole on the nearby crown land which would require swimming shoes or socks (sharp rocks), but it's a pretty neat place to snorkel as there is still evidence of the river's logging legacy. This spot is even more difficult to access but I will make a path eventually. The site is a little close to the road, so you will hear occasional vehicles driving by as well as other human activities in the distance, but it is generally a very peaceful location. You will have to forage for firewood, but there is no shortage of it as you will see. Keep fires small and, although it is very satisfying, please don't push over rotten snags (dead standing trees), these are important for woodpeckers and other creatures! Same with flowers, let's just take pictures and not pick them, some may not grow back! As you can see, I have a lot of work ahead of me making paths, clearing the view, etc. If you have chainsaw experience (or, even better, sawmill! or both!) and want to clear some deadfall in exchange for a spot to camp or park your RV (no hookup) for a weekend or week, send me a message and we can discuss possibilities. It doesn't always have to be cold hard cash. I am open to any ideas that would fit into this sort of description.Because this is still such a rustic site, I am offering you complimentary day passes to Lancaster's Resort on Mississagagon Lake. Here you will have access to the shower, washrooms, beach, trails, wifi, boat launch, kayak and canoe rentals ($25 per vessel per day) and more. Parking is at the lodge, just provide me with your licence plate number and that'll be all you need to enjoy the resort's amenities.There is a public boat launch for the Mississippi River right at the bridge - 4 mins drive heading northeast on River Rd. - limited parking.And in case you are wondering, The Naked Mitrewort takes its name from Mitella nuda, a tiny unassuming perennial plant found in wet riparian forests throughout Canada and the US and is abundant around the property.I look forward to hosting you!

The wetland is part of Ontario's Mississippi River system, which stretches 200km from Mackavoy Lake to the Ottawa River. The wetland is a hotspot for biodiversity and indigenous history and is located just outside of the hamlet of Ardoch.This would be a great stopover site for a cyclist exploring North Frontenac's looping roads or for anyone who was unable to book a site at some of the more popular provincial parks like Bon Echo, Sharbot and Silver Lakes, or Frontenac. The terrain between the water and campsite is low, moist and scrubby with many trees that have fallen as a result of a big storm a few years ago. I just bought this property in Oct. 2020 and have done very few improvements since then (I have exciting things planned though!). There is an outhouse for your bathroom needs as well as a little platform near the water, but there isn't a clear path to the water yet, so tread carefully. The platform (and outhouse actually...) is on its way to being rotten, but it's good enough for a few chairs, but not a tent.  There is also a little swimming hole on the nearby crown land which would require swimming shoes or socks (sharp rocks), but it's a pretty neat place to snorkel as there is still evidence of the river's logging legacy. This spot is even more difficult to access but I will make a path eventually. The site is a little close to the road, so you will hear occasional vehicles driving by as well as other human activities in the distance, but it is generally a very peaceful location. You will have to forage for firewood, but there is no shortage of it as you will see. Keep fires small and, although it is very satisfying, please don't push over rotten snags (dead standing trees), these are important for woodpeckers and other creatures! Same with flowers, let's just take pictures and not pick them, some may not grow back! As you can see, I have a lot of work ahead of me making paths, clearing the view, etc. If you have chainsaw experience (or, even better, sawmill! or both!) and want to clear some deadfall in exchange for a spot to camp or park your RV (no hookup) for a weekend or week, send me a message and we can discuss possibilities. It doesn't always have to be cold hard cash. I am open to any ideas that would fit into this sort of description.Because this is still such a rustic site, I am offering you complimentary day passes to Lancaster's Resort on Mississagagon Lake. Here you will have access to the shower, washrooms, beach, trails, wifi, boat launch, kayak and canoe rentals ($25 per vessel per day) and more. Parking is at the lodge, just provide me with your licence plate number and that'll be all you need to enjoy the resort's amenities.There is a public boat launch for the Mississippi River right at the bridge - 4 mins drive heading northeast on River Rd. - limited parking.And in case you are wondering, The Naked Mitrewort takes its name from Mitella nuda, a tiny unassuming perennial plant found in wet riparian forests throughout Canada and the US and is abundant around the property.I look forward to hosting you!

Neil has a great place 30 minutes away from Gatineau! U get plenty of privacy on his property. We've enjoyed the sound of the water crrek at night. There is a wood heater inside the tent so the temperature was not too cold in mid october. There is a grocery store 5 min from the camp.... Very convinient. Would recommend!

Victor brought by brand new camp chairs for us and sweetly asked, "Can I come in?" when he arrived at the site with them. We loved the trails. We spotted a porcupine, a deer, an owl, heard raccoons, beavers and countless frogs and birds. We will be returning!

Amazingly private. There's a rec centre and rental cottage also on the property but out of sight and ear shot of the campsite. Convenient bathroom with a shower at the rec centre within a 1-2 min. walk. Victor was a great host and provided everything we needed. Had a fun paddle boat ride on the lake and loved hiking the long private trails. Some sections of the trails are tricky. Looking forward to spending a week there next summer.

We had a lovely time at bon echo tiny village. It's our first time here with our RV camper. The site was nice and clean and the facilities are well maintained. We were at site 44, which is in the forest lane. It was only a min walk from the office, washroom and pool. The staff was so friendly and lovely. We're about 5 min walk from the dock and had a great time kayaking!

It was close enough to washrooms and other amenities while still remaining private and like you were in the wilderness. Staff were excellent and attentive to any questions. Canoeing down the river was nice because you don’t run into other watercraft, and scenic with nice wildlife. Great walking paths through the forest and up past the waterfall. Would recommend for families with kids. Site 49, “private” tent site is nice for being out of the view of any other site.

This was our third time here this season and we love it so much we booked another trip next month! Sitting by the river with our coffee and a book has become our new favourite way to unwind after a busy week. Our kids love being able to swim and paddle board right off the site, and they are still in direct sight line! Plenty of space to set up multiple tents, and the dining shelter came in handy on a wet morning. Tons of shade but some sunny spots, too, ideal mix of spaces. There is a bit of poison ivy around the edges of the site so take a peek around to make sure you know where it is. This has quickly become our favourite family get away and we will be coming back again and again!

Tiny village echo lake camping site is a lovely place to camp. First time camping experience and it was perfect . The site is private and easy to navigate. Barely any mosquitos. There is a nice pool, and showers. The main office lake and all accommodations are only a 5 min walk away from the camp sites . The management is very helpful and was only a call away answer any questions. Paddle boats and canoes are also available to take out onto the lake . 5/5 experience overall. Will defiantly be back!

Loved this little wilderness retreat! Victor was very kind and sweet. He was always a call or a text away if needed. But mostly everything was provided. Naomi was such a darling showing us around when we got there. A bbq for cooking, water to drink and do dishes, drying rack and sink provided. The platform so set up our tent was very nice. Cute little sitting area with a cover! Our pups absolutely loved running through the trails, which was beautifully marked. Canoes, pedal boats and floaties were all provided if you like. Or just sit on the dock and enjoy the beautiful views of the lake. This one is for the books, absolute must if you enjoy the outdoors. Thank you for Wilderness Trails, you were so lovely!
