4WD/ATV or walk-in access only with a rough 2km of road to access campsites. Campsites are located along remote undeveloped lake with clear mostly spring-fed water. Sites are located further down on the lake where you will be able to drive to with the appropriate vehicle (listed above). To access swimming water, you will need to boat out into the lake a bit as the sites are located in a low-water area. Great for snorkeling and swimming, but to get out further into the lake where the best areas are for both these activities you will need a watercraft (paddle boards, canoes, kayaks, or small boats). On the lake itself is an island commonly used for nesting birds, and the water is both clean and clear. There is also endless ATV trails adjacent to the property, so there is more to enjoy than just the lake itself.

This property was settled by the Irish in the mid 1800’s. Originally inhabited by Algonquin peoples the land was cleared for farming and they erected several building including a large German style hand hewn timber frame barn which still stands and is used today. The farm house was built in the 1910 and the original log cabins have been reframed into artistic buildings. It is wild to look around and imagine what life was like before now in a time when the land had no boundry lines and was traversed by indigenous peoples of this area. We have a great respect for those who have walked before us and a deep sense of gratitude for being here today. Learn more about this land: Perched high on a hilltop with scenic views of the surrounding area resting on the Canadian Shield! We are offering a gentle landing for those wishing to relax and enjoy nature. We have several options for camping sites and experiences for campers to choose from. There are 6 campsites available for tent and RV/trailer campers. We can accommodate vehicles up to 30ft in length (no hookups available at this time). Pets are welcome! Go for a hike up the mountain, meander along the streams, walk to the lake 15min down a beautiful country road. Enjoy what we have going on at the art barn where we host artists in residence studios, music jams, workshops and events. Enjoy an evening around your private campfire or perhaps join some folks gathered at the communal fire pit under the stars. 6. Kingscote Campsites - Algonquin

These campsites are newly developed and are located at the very southern tip of Algonquin Park. There are about 30 - 50 feet between most campsites. Depending on the campsite sometimes there is more than 50 ft or less than 50 feet as some campsites are meant to go together when people are traveling in groups. You will need to put in a request and details, for the time you would like to book. The site will not book automatically. The more details you give me the better I can decide which site is best for you. There are lots of trails and less than an hour from the Algonquin Park East Gate. Please be respectful of the other campers and leave the property as clean as you found it. There is horseback riding available next door and canoe, kayak and SUP rentals 2 km from the campsites. These campsites are also located within the Geocaching Capital of Canada, so a great place to find treasures, nearby. Kingscote Lake is about 7 km up the road and High Falls Hiking trailhead is about 2 km from campsites.

3 nights at Trapper Lake

We had a great time staying at Blue’s Landing! The site itself is secluded and spacious, perfect for a peaceful getaway. Kelly was super responsive and came to our rescue right away when we got lost on the way — we really appreciated that! Be aware that part of the trail leading to the campground can be steep and rocky, so keep an eye on your vehicle and trailer clearance. The boat launch area had shallow water during our visit, and our inflatable dingy struggled a bit getting through the shallowest part. Trapper Lake is scenic, the water is clean, and the fishing was decent. Just a heads-up: it may not be the best for young kids to play in the water, as the shallow areas are all covered with some kind of algae. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would happily come back. Thanks again, Kelly, for being such a helpful and welcoming host!

Well another GREAT weekend comes to an end. It’s never long enough. Kelly was and is as awesome as ever. Not storm this time around nothing but sunshine. Site was clean and great as always. It BIG and off grid. Perfect, we had lots of room for our dog and love the ride in….. little rough but with a truck or suv your good to go. Can’t wait till next time.

Extremely great place to relax. We had a great time. Kelly was the best as when we stayed got hit with a big storm and came out that night/AM to make sure we are safe. The site is large and clean, has a nice fire pit with grill. More than enough room for a family getaway. I hope to make it back a few times a year.

Vanessa place was really nice we enjoyed, she was in touch with us all the time with clear directions, tips of what we have around and could do, she left a amazing welcoming box full of treats like s'mores, tea, tim hortons drinks, bars a lot of things and also lighter and flash lights ohh also firewood. You got place by yourself no one bothers. Definitely we love to come back!!!

Where to go

Algonquin Provincial Park

Enjoy the nearly untouched woodlands of Algonquin Provincial Park, just 50 minutes away from Bancroft. As Canada’s first provincial park, it’s home to giant moose, racing rivers, quiet ponds, and scenic hiking trails that traverse its 7,600 square kilometres. Explore interpretive walking trails and canoe or kayak river rapids. In the winter, try dog sledding or summer camp in the wild backcountry. Nearby campgrounds and RV parks are available year-round as well.

Egan Chutes Provincial Park

Waterfalls and old forests fill Egan Chutes Provincial Park. Drive 15 miles from town to enjoy popular park activities like hiking, canoeing on the York River, and birding. Hikers can also find both easy and moderately challenging hikes. Then, try nearby cabin rentals, RV parks, and campgrounds offering convenient amenities like restrooms, firepits, and picnic areas.

Petroglyphs Provincial Park

Home to the largest concentration of the country’s indigenous rock carvings, Petroglyphs Provincial Park also offers pristine forests and famed blue-green waters at McGinnis Lake. Campers can peruse the carvings of humans and animals at The Teaching Rocks while hiking the surrounding landscape. Although the park does not offer camping or cabin rentals, these accommodations can be found nearby or back in Bancroft.

When to go

Campers enjoy visiting Bancroft year-round. Although summertime is popular, each season offers outdoor fun. June through August is peak camping season, which is complemented by activities like swimming, boating, and hiking. While winter and spring attract fewer campers, there are still plenty of activities and campsites in operation; though it’s important to monitor the weather and possible road closures due to snow. After summer, autumn is Bancroft’s most popular season with its colourful foliage, fall festivals, and farmer’s markets.
