Minutes from Northumberland Strait and beautiful Big Island BeachSite has access to River for Kayak or canoe launch which leads into Merigomish Harbour. Walking distance to convenience store and NSLC outlet. Easy drive to Cape George ( The Mini Trail ) and close to New Glasgow or Antigonish. We have beautiful orchards and blueberry fields, if you are here in July or August you can probably pick blueberries for breakfast. There is excellent biking and hiking nearby. The site has beautiful views of the surrounding area and very peaceful and quiet. You will have access to drinking water but no bathroom facilities. We are located between New Glasgow and Antigonish along the beautiful shore road called Route 245. Also, 10 minutes from TCH heading to Cape

This 5 acre private campsite is located right off highway 316 very close to Tor Bay Provincial Park, which offers a lovely beach and trails. Basin Brook Camp features a driveway quickly leading to a flat area suitable for a trailer or tents. The property overlooks a wilderness area with stunning sunsets and quiet moonlit nights. It has a cleared area in which blackberries, raspberries and blueberries grow. At the back of this cleared area is a marked trail leading to the shoreline on Gammons Basin. Along one side of the campsite land is Basin Brook, which is a tidal stream that can be accessed easily by the road. Deer have been seen on the property, and moose, otters and seabirds nearby. Basin Brook Camp is quiet and secluded with no neighbours in sight.
Please note that this is a drive on and off site so a trailer would need to be backed in. There is no room to turn around.

Chris was a great host! He greeted us at the campsite on a rainy November night and had made sure to have a roaring fire for us when we got there despite all the rain! The views from The Point in the morning were beautiful - perfect spot to enjoy coffee & breakfast in the sun. Chris came to check in on us in the morning to make sure we had everything we needed.

From the moment we arrived at Chris’s land we felt very welcomed. Chris was onsite to greet us and show us the camping area. The camp is a work in progress so no high-tech fancy camping facilities, but if your aim is to lay back, relax and leave the daily grind behind this is your place. The campsites are along the shore and at low tide a great walk. Our site enjoyed a beautiful sunrise and after a full day of exploring the area we took our camp chairs to the shoreline to watch the magnificent sunset over the water. The camp is 30 mins from groceries and gas. Chris allows dogs to roam off leash and our pup loved the freedom. Chris and his mom Gail check in with you daily to talk and answer your questions and they go out if their way to help make your stay comfortable.
We booked for one night and immediately booked a second night. We ended up spending 5 nights. Thank you Chris and Gail

The point of the point is the view, as there is no cell service [though they do hope to remedy that issue], and no washrooms. That said Chris and his mother were wonderful and hospitable. The view is jaw dropping, and that alone is worth the stay. Also an amazing place to get away from everything.

It is a beautiful place on the edge of the ocean! Definitely worth stopping on your eastern shore road trip. We had 3 tents and all found flat spots. Burn ban was in effect but no big deal because the night sky was lit up. Minimal light pollution here.

We had an amazing camping experience here! The spot was peaceful and surrounded by nature, with direct access to the water. The off-leash area for our dog was a huge bonus; she had the time of her life running free and playing by the shore. Chris was incredibly thoughtful and friendly, making us feel truly welcome. A beautiful, quiet escape we’ll definitely return to.

Alan's place was quiet, very close to Big Island beach and a perfect place to have a little getaway! Alan was very accommodating, made amazing recommendations, and let us pick some of his lovely, fresh blueberries which was a great surprise. We will no doubt be back at some point :)

Wonderful kind people and a beautiful spot.
I had a little trouble getting in because it was my first time hauling the camper and reverse is not my friend but that's on me.
It was quiet and peaceful and in the words of my 1.5 year old the first day we showed up "WOW" . I would absolutely go again.

Amazing camping spot right on the water! Chris, the host, was very helpful and accommodating. We forgot some of our camping supplies and Chris immediately went back home and brought them to us. Fresh eggs too! We stayed at the Point camping spot which was absolutely beautiful. Chris supplies a canoe which we used often to navigate around the islands. Couldn’t recommend this spot more highly. Thanks Chris!
