Located off Highway 6, a 10 minute drive to colourful Kalamalka Lake which boasts of sandy beaches and gorgeous hikes, and a 6 minute drive to beautiful Lavington Park with a playground, off leash dog park and free public swimming pool access during July and August.
Walk down the path to your own private creek access, bring a book and relax in a chair by the water and take a dip in the refreshing creek.
Note: This site is not accessible by car. You will need to park in front of the bridge, wagons are provided. If lots of rain is forecasted please bring tarps, there are plenty of trees nearby to devote too. There is a powered covered cooking/eating area. You may use the bbq and gas burners at no charge. Beautiful, tranquil spot, only 13 mins from Coldwater . We woke up to the horses eating in the pasture and Jazz, the dog, placing a ball at our feet to throw! Our host Kathryn was very helpful and friendly. We had a plug in and fresh water along with a large flat pad area to park the RV & truck on.
Kathryn is also a very fine artist , we left with three fabulous oil paintings!!

Very happy with our stay at the Thirsty Farmer! We had it all to ourselves and the space was ample for our dog to enjoy. The hosts were welcoming and generous. Having use of a washroom with shower and laundry AND a bbq was such a total bonus! The kids loved the rope swings and the stargazing was great. Thank you Wesley and Maeghan! We highly recommend for a slightly unique experience.

Perfect RV spot and great hosts! We travel with 2 dogs and they were welcomed on the property. Suzanne and her husband were a great help when we needed directions to the ER for a broken arm and checked in everyday to see how I was doing. The walk through the property to the river was beautiful. We'd definately go back.

When to go
Summer is peak season in Salmon Arm and the Shuswap region when families flock to the beaches and campgrounds around Shuswap Lake. As in many parts of Canada, fall is a good alternative, with mild weather into October. Spring weather is more variable, and from November through February, temperatures frequently drop below freezing, and snow is possible. You need winter tires or chains to drive the Trans-Canada Highway between October and March.
Know before you go
- While you can find big-box stores along the Trans-Canada Highway, detour into downtown Salmon Arm for more local shops and eateries. West of town, stop into family-run Grass Root Dairies, which makes several varieties of gouda cheese.
- Another good place to pick up fresh produce and other food supplies is Salmon Arm’s all-organic Farmers Market. It runs every Wednesday from May through October and every second Wednesday November through April.
- To stay on the water, find a Salmon Area houseboat rental and cruise on Shuswap Lake.
