A very remote, tranquil log cabin fishing camp hand-built in the 1960's. Akehurst Lake Wilderness Resort is only accessible by ATV (snowmobile in winter) or by foot (a 9-minute walk from the parking lot). There is no public access to the lake so it is wonderfully private & peaceful. We offer 5 cabins in total with some areas suitable for tents. There is a day-lodge with a kitchen and eating area for guest's use, kayaks, row boats, and a paddle board free for use as well as a wood-fired sauna! The lake is excellent for swimming. It is feet-friendly, shallow, and has no sudden drop-offs. And if you like to hike, fish or BOTH then this is the place for you. There are many nearby lakes that are a short drive/ride and hike away! Akehurst Lake does not have cell service or wifi. Lights are made possible by a gas generator in the evening. There is only cold running water in the day-lodge sink which is seasonal and depends on if the creek is running. Guests should be comfortable being in the woods and aware that if no one else is there, they will need to light the stove and fridge and operate the generator if needed. **Packing List** - Bedding (sheets & blankets or sleeping bag. Pillow covers) - Extra pillows (we provide 2 per cabin. Ask if more are available before arrival) - Towel/face cloth - Dish cloth & Dish towels - Paper towel/napkins - Toilet rolls - Lighter for fires (if applicable). We are one hour outside of Kamloops on a maintained public gravel road, however AWD or 4WD recommended during late fall to late spring. We have no minimum stay but highly recommend two nights. Do not use google maps to find our place - it can be very confusing. Google maps may show coming to our property from Savona but the easiest drive is from Kamloops. Please use the directions that get emailed to you just before your stay. To get here head to the Kamloops airport then follow Tranquille Criss Creek Road. We do not recommend traveling this road in the dark if you are not familiar with it! Wonderfully private! Come give our land some love as it recovers from the 2021 Sparks Lake forest fire. Acres and acres to hike, mountain bike and snowshoe. Surrounded by crown land there is no lack of space to explore and easy access to forest service roads to quad and bike. Many lakes near by for fishing and kayaking. Wildlife galore! There are wild flowers and plants so come forage and explore. Disconnect from the busyness of city life! Wow, what a beautiful, tranquil spot this is. The trailer has everything you need for a comfortable stay, inside and out, with several different chill out area options. The views of the lake are just gorgeous, from sunrise to sunset, and the stars at night were incredible. Being dog friendly was the icing on the cake! Quiet dirt roads were great for walks. I honestly should have booked for longer. Already looking forward to our next stay. Brock is a great host. :)

The campsite is very nice too: the pit toilet has a water bucket to wash hands and soap. Each campsite has a picknick table. There was only one other guest that night, so it was relatively privat. Would absolutely recommend.

We loved the camping at Shauna’s land. She and her husband were so welcoming and kind. It was very easy to get to the place, we stayed there on our way to the Rockies. They already had one tent setup and offered us to use it. Since we arrived when it was dark, we were very thankful for this option. I would stay there again and definitely recommend it!

When to go

July and August are the area’s warmest months, when it’s nice to camp somewhere near fresh water. Campers visiting in spring and fall should pack a puffy, insulated parka to ward off any nighttime chill—temperature changes can be dramatic.

Know before you go

Campground reservations at some provincial parks are mandatory, especially on summer weekends.
Kamloops has all of the retail and professional services that every camper needs (Wal-Mart, Costco, Canadian Tire).
Fire and smoking bans are often in effect during the dry summer months.
Campgrounds are busiest during Canadian holiday weekends—Victoria Day in May, Canada Day in July, BC Day in August, and Labour Day in September.
