Our location is a haven for adventurers and peace-seekers alike, offering easy access to the natural wonders of Vancouver Island. An hour north of Nanaimo, our property is an ideal base for day trips to Hornby, Denman, and Lasqueti Islands. Many of our guests stop here for a night or two on their way to and from the mainland to Ucluelet or Tofino for world-class surfing, or if skiing is your calling, Mount Washington is just a 45-minute drive away.
Spend time discovering forest trails, a children's playground, and a bike park here in our neighbourhood. Lighthouse Country area teems with opportunities for exploration, from pristine beaches, including Sunny Beach and scenic Spider and Horne Lakes. Or if you climb, consider the Horne Lake Caves! If you're into hiking, use your All Trails App to discover the Lighthouse Country Trail (at our doorstep), including the Wilson Woodlot and Lost Runners Trails. Urban legend has it that the running shoes were lost, not the people wearing them!
You can pitch your tent in our gardens, park your RV on the forest's edge, or stay in our cozy tiny cabins. Wander our gardens and check out a young permaculture food forest filled with fruit and hazelnut trees, berries, and good stuff!

The camp sites surround the pond and there is a choice of lots of sun and light or shaded under the trees. The sites can be used by R.V or tent. there is an outhouse onsite for your convenience.

Both Susan and Tony were amazing hosts. They were always quick to answer any questions and were incredibly kind! We did end up booking a tour with them of their place which was truly spectacular and original. Me and my parter have already discussed when we will return next. We will be forever thinking about our conversations with them both sharing our love for the environment and dogs:) Looking forward to our next visit!

Susan was an excellent host. When we first showed up we were a little lost and she guided us right to our campsite. We were camping on Thanksgiving and she invited us into her home and gave us a slice of homemade pumpkin pie (it was amazing). We left in a hurry but we would definitely go back again.

Jamie is an exceptional host. Communication was so easy and professional. The land is beautiful, so spacious and private. A real treat to have so much space and quiet, while also being close to town and all the valley has to offer. Highly recommend, and will definitely be back. We loved our stay at Jamie’s campsite. It is so beautiful and peaceful. A great place to relax and embrace the surrounding nature. All the personal touches he has put into the site, the tables, lit stairs, water, fire pit and outhouse add to the experience. The location is awesome as you are close to biking, swimming, paddling and town, and yet feel like you off the beaten track. Highly recommend it!! We will be back :)

Wow, just an amazing overall experience staying here as a couple with a 16 month old son in our camper van, the hosts were extremely accommodating with our last minute booking and the property is like your own little oasis under the trees at their pond. They really went above and beyond to help make sure we were set with anything we needed, even gifting us some of their own farm fresh eggs. A short bike ride to a beautiful swim spot on the Puntledge, Stotan Falls, to cool down. Clean pit toilet and potable water with shower head, even a fire pit we could’ve used if it wasn’t fire season and row boat for their pond. We will definitely be back here!

I really enjoyed my time at this place. The Yurt is lovely and really well built. It is comfortable and the shower is so cute!
There is a toaster oven, coffee maker with coffee and sugar, plus cutlery and plates. There is water and a sink outside that has hot and cold. The wifi is pretty good, but cell service isn't. The driveway is very steep and rocky, so keep in mind when driving there. The bathroom is a walk from the Yurt on gravel. They are pet-friendly which is the best part! The owners were very friendly and kind.
Overall, I really enjoyed staying here and would again!

Weekend Trip to theDoighouse Earthship
This was our second time staying at Susan and Tony’s precious off the grid cabin. It feels so good to stay in this lovely abode, which has everything one could need. We were greeted by their super friendly and well behaved poodle, Bentley in the morning before eating breakfast on the delightful front porch!
