Wild Coast has 2 nightly campsites for you to enjoy. Site one is a large, flat open gravel base. And Site 2 is a large, flat grass based site. Please note you must have your own trailer or tent.
We’re a 5-10 minute drive to Rathtrevor beach/Parksville, Englishman River. We are right in the middle of an extensive trail network perfect for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding.
Both sites have plenty of space for RVs and trailers - we can accommodate vehicles up to 45ft in length. 30 amp Electrical and potable water hookups are available on both sites. WI-FI onsite as well. There is a flush toilet and sink available in our farm store that is available for guest use. No shower yet, but we are working on it!
The property is private yet close to all amenities. Local favorite Rocking Horse Pub is a quick walk next door and a must-stop for dinner and drinks!
Centrally located on Vancouver Island, it’s a perfect spot to set up the rig and day trip out to Rathtrevor, Little Qualicum, Parksville, Coombs, Port Alberni valley and Nanaimo, or go for an overnighter in Victoria, Tofino, Mount Washington and the Comox Valley.
Campfires are permitted as long as there is no fire ban and we have dry firewood for sale onsite. If you would like firewood send us a message before you arrive.
Pets are welcome, but please be responsible for them. There is a large open grass field for you to let them run and burn off that energy.

Hi, my name is Dave. My family and I would like to welcome you to Nile Point, a secluded campsite located on 20 acres of privately owned, oceanfront property on Nelson Island, BC. I consider it the closest thing to paradise.
The first you'll need to know about this property is that it's only accessible by boat. This is what makes the campsite so secluded and peaceful.
Transportation to and from the island is included with your stay. The stunning 15 minute boat ride to and from Nile Point is one of the many things that makes this a truly unique experience.
The second thing you'll need to know is that we offer TWO SITES on the property,
a 10x16 TENT PLATFORM and a OCEANFRONT CANVAS TENT WITH ENSUITE (NEW!) with king size bed, in-tent ensuite bathroom and fully stocked outdoor kitchen with potable water, bar fridge and BBQ
We have one canoe, one one-person kayak, a two-person kayak, and some paddleboards. Bring your own water exploring devices if you wish. Our beach is rocky (it ain't a sandy beach!), so bring your good water/rock shoes!
This is a great place to stay and explore if you love the wild. It's off the grid, so if you want to unplug from devices and do nothing but relax or play in the ocean and explore the forest, it's perfect. That said, there is cell reception should you need it and a solar charger if you need to charge your devices.
Egmont offers a pub, a fancy restaurant, and a charming convenience store with wi-fi. We can take you in to town during your stay for an additional charge of 50$ per direction.
We've secured exclusive moorage at a private dock in Egmont. This is where you will park. This private parking includes secure gated access, closer proximity to our accommodations, and stunning waterfront surroundings

We loved tent camping on Paul's property, we drove around and looked at every site and ended up picking site 8 for it's privacy and cute little pond area, though we would have been ecstatic with any of the sites as they were all private and tidy. Boyd and Ace (resident campers we ran into) were also very kind and Ace was fun to pet! (He's a dog haha) the ocean was walking distance away which was also very nice. Paul even offered to deliver firewood to us and build us a cozy campfire! Would definitely recommend staying here if you're looking for a secluded, private, clean place to camp. We'll definitely be back next year!

We loved the open-air experience of our glamping tent, located near a beautiful stretch of beach near Oyster River. We walked our dog along the community trail every morning, and we spent many evenings on the beach. The tent ambiance is cozy, with a cushy bed, armchairs, and even braided rugs on the floor. The "kitchen" is very basic but supplied all we needed.

Highlights were: coffee on the patio, feeding the chickens, picking blackberries and taking our dog for walks on the property. Our hosts were so friendly and responsive to any questions we had. A great place to unplug and unwind!

Great host! Paul really cares for his property and set up a bunch of lovely, private, level, spaced out options(watch for slugs in the grass if you venture out on warm summer nights.) Came back for a second night knowing that finding something else in a busy holiday weekend was like playing chicken:) neighboring campers were all quiet and friendly and Paul was accessible if we needed anything. Nice touches like signage and clearly marked spot, clean potty, water. Thanks for giving us a nice spot on our journey! Probably one of the best most welcoming hip camps we have ever stayed in!!!! Would definitely recommend a stay here. Close to fun mountain biking and beach resort and lake options too. Thanks!

This site was just what we needed for a bit of a break before catching the Nanaimo ferry (30 min away).
Cory and Trish were very quick to respond to any questions, including the whereabouts of a local dog friendly beach. The bathroom for the camp sites was beyond expectations. And of course, The Rocking Horse Pub just down the road is really such a perc.

Quiet and private site. There were only a few other campers there. We stayed in campsite #4 which was great. No neighbors. Easy to find and easy to book on this busy holiday week. Water available from the spigot and there’s a single outhouse.

The site is huge! Nice and flat, potable water and power hook-ups. Trash, compost and recycling at the site. Flush toilet and sink very close to site. Hosts are very friendly and relaxed, ensuring guests enjoy their stay while allowing privacy. The site and bathroom was very clean. The field for our dog to run off-leash was a wonderful treat and Teddy had a blast! The area is quiet with beautiful star gazing at night. Lots to see and do, great hiking and swim spots close by. We enjoyed our stay very much! Absolutely recommend !

Such a great quiet spot. Very private and well set up. We stayed for 10 days and were very comfortable. Everything you need except Sani dump which isn't that big a deal. Wifi is exceptional, and the rooster was a great way to wake up. lol. Nice trails to walk with the pooch. Highly recommend and would stay here again for sure. Lisa the host was very accommodating and communication was excellent. 5 stars

Horne Lake Cave Park
Less than an hour south of Courtenay on Highway 19 waits one of the coolest (and largely undiscovered) underground experiences you’ll ever have— exploring the caves at Horne Lake Caves Provincial Park. While these are wild, untouched caves without walkways, lights, or handrails, expert guides lead the way through echoing chambers and tight fissures.
Hornby Island
Known as the Gulf Island with the most spectacular white-sand beaches, warmest swimming spots, and colourful locals, Hornby Island may be off the beaten track but it’s a track worth taking. To get there, drive 20 minutes south along Highway 19 to Buckley Bay and take two short ferry rides. Visit the Hornby Island Co-op for supplies and a slice of island life with food stalls, artisan markets, and live music happening throughout the year.
Cumberland
Just a 10-minute drive from downtown Courtenay, tucked down in the foothills of the Beaufort Mountains, Cumberland is the spot for mountain biking. With more than 80 kilometres of well-maintained single-track trails, bike enthusiasts are rewarded for their efforts with pristine forests and epic mountain vistas. This vibrant community is home to a wave of new businesses opening up along the charming historic streets to serve outdoor lovers.
When to go
Summers are short, warm, and sometimes quite cloudy, while winters are long, cold, and wet. The best time to enjoy warm-weather pursuits in Courtenay and the Comox Valley is mid-July to mid-August, while snow-focussed alpine activities are doable from December to early April. The area is the island’s epicentre for skiing and mountain biking, meaning school holidays are very busy.
Know before you go
- Courtenay is a 2.5-hour drive from Victoria, on the southern tip of Vancouver Island. It’s just over an hour’s drive from Nanaimo, the island’s second-largest city.
- Ferries from the mainland (Vancouver) service Nanaimo (Departure Bay) and Victoria (Swartz Bay). There is also a ferry route to Courtenay from Powell River on the Sunshine Coast.
- Main highways are well maintained, but many of the secondary roads can be rough. Make sure your vehicle is up to the challenge.
