We bought this property in 2008 as raw land with an old off-grid 1950's cabin on it. While the log structure was sound, the cabin needed some major renovations to be liveable. We undertook renovations, lived in it for 6 months and then moved into a yurt on a more accessible section of our property. We now run the cabin as a short term rental, have another small rental next to our house and we are using the yurt for gatherings, retreats and yoga classes! We had such a lovely time! To be honest, we were positively surprised by how nice the cabin was! We had everything we needed and more! The bed was comfy, the kitchen well equipped, everything was very clean and tidy. We enjoyed our dinner on the deck and imagined what the view would be like, if it hadn't been so smoky :D Maria is a great host! Her communication before and during our stay was fantastic and when we met her before we checked out, she gave us a tour of the property and showed us the other cabins, which are all super nice! We would love to come back!

We loved camping at this spot, one of the best camp trips we've ever had. Great, friendly hospitality from Dean and Debbie and everything you would need for a great camping experience, including chopped firewood, wifi and drinking water right by the site. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets as well, and a lovely lounge area for cooking/washing dishes/hanging out, we will definitely return again when possible!

Was very easy to get to and was nice and spacious, could definitely fit multiple people. Had a cute little picnic table, an umbrella, and a fire pit along with a bit of firewood. As someone pretty disgusted with outhouses theirs was nice and clean. The dense trees and bushes added some decent privacy but the ground was nice and flat coming from someone who tented. The sound of the highway right beside was a bit noisy at times and the site is a bit close to the house (Johanna’s) but that’s the only cons I can think of Generally very good stay, Johanna was very polite and welcoming and it was a good site.

Our stay at the Wild Turkey Nest was one of the highlights of our journey on the Selkirk Loop. The campsite was spacious and had everything we could need, and the host was welcoming and informative. Our evening sitting in the old barn watching the sun set on the mountains was amazing. Would definitely stay here again!

The set up was amazing, the views were excellent, and the hosts were incredibly friendly. The shower house was clean and appreciated. Wood, water, and electricity are available to those who need it. It was a very nice stay for us. We were just staying the night while traveling along the Selkirk Loop. We had a delightful conversation with Dean. He shared his connection and knowledge of the area as well as the future plans for the site. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay. We would highly recommend it for anyone who is passing through the area.

I camp almost every weekend in the spring and summer and Blacktail Ridge is hands down the best camping spot I have had in Canada/US in the 3 years I have been here. The sites themselves are massive. Most other campsites try to cram 5 sites into the size of Blacktails sites. The toilets and showers are clean, hot and very well maintained. The firewood is dry, great quality and burns hot for hours. The property overall is spectacular, clean and green. Best of all are the hosts! Dean had a lifetime of knowledge and shared some valuable info on the local area that helped me a ton. Debbie was quick to reply to any questions I had and Zach gave me a great introduction to the property. I will go back and stay here every time I'm in the area and am looking forward to it! Thanks Dean, Deb and Zach for setting the bar:)
