Quiet, majestic back to nature spot!
This is a place to get away from a busy life.
With close proximity to Winchell Lake, this land is ideal for fishing, hiking or simply enjoying the breathtaking scenery.
We have 4 campsites available for tent or RV/trailer campers. If you're bringing an RV, we have two power outlets and water available. You will be parking on a field and the site requires levelling.
Electricity and firewood are both available for purchase (see extras below). Please add this to your reservation at the time of booking.
Campfires are permitted, pets are welcome. Potable water, picnic table, and outhouse are all available.
We have cows, goats, chickens, horses and dogs and cats on the property that
generally love people. :) I have only one dog and typically allow dogs to run off leash. We do have to be careful that it doesn't turn to a dog gang as this happened once and they took down one of my goats. The goats Hon and Chewy are okay but it took months for poor Hon to heal. I also worry about the chickens and the cats so please keep and eye on your dogs!
Lots of treed areas for private camping, horseback riding hiking and walking!
Bird watching is big around here as we are on a bird migratory path.
We are just above Winchell Lake and less than 10 km from Water Valley Golf Course and Saloon.
Please recognize that you are visiting a Ranch not a campsite. We are sharing our piece of heaven with you and you are helping to support our animals and their heaven.
Chickens are "True" Free Range and hand fed every morning. Eggs are $10 a dozen to pay for their feed. :)
Every spring the rain tends to cause ruts and washes out some of the road on the way to the back forty where the meadow is. We gather rocks on the property to fill the ditches but the early part of the year the roads can be bumpy. Please ask the conditions of the road when you book if you have concerns. Thanks!

Alpine Ranch Vibes:
Stay on a small working hobby ranch with views of llamas and occasional wildlife. Watch young and rescue llamas train to become trail companions, and enjoy the chance of seeing curious woollies up close. Outdoor Space:
Private entrance, fenced yard, covered deck, and propane fireplace make for a perfect escape. There’s a covered area for bikes and gear, and an outdoor hose (warmer months only) for cleaning off muddy boots or pets. Two dedicated parking spots are available—with space for a trailer if needed. Enjoy the wood-burning fire pit and hot tub just outside your yard.
Entrance & Living Area:
A spacious entryway includes a mini foosball table, towels, games, and more. The open living space features a smart TV with Netflix, comfy seating, a dining bar, and access to a balcony overlooking the llamas.

Includes a 2-burner cooktop, fridge, microwave, dishwasher, and essentials like utensils, pots, coffee, tea, toaster, and kettle.

We are available all year round. Rock Lake Provincial Park. 70km NW of the nearest town (Hinton).
You will enjoy peace in quiet in this remote, private, and off-grid location. Our cabins are in a forested area surrounded by mountains. Set apart amongst the trees for privacy.
Savour the sound of silence and smell the trees. Beautiful sunrises, sunsets, and stargazing at night!
Rock Lake is only 7km from the camp where you can enjoy
awe-inspiring views of Alberta's Northern Rockies while fishing, boating, mountain biking or hiking.
There is no TV, wifi, or cell service. Each cabin has indoor plumbing, toilet, shower, hot and cold running water and a wood-burning stove. All cooking is done on the deck of the cabin using a griddle. Propane supplied.
All firewood, kindling, bed linens, towels, pots/pans/cutlery included.
Please note, a 4WD vehicle is recommended to access the site.
Sub-Alpine area in front ranges of Alberta Rockies.
We are located 1 hour and 30 minutes from Jasper National Park and 3 hours from Mount Robson National Park.

The units are complete with bunks or wood cots, a wood stove, picnic tables and outhouse. This area is so remote it is only accessible by boat. All essential supplies for your stay must be brought in by boat.
A daily boat rental is included with this package.
Bring your own foam mattress, bedding, cooking supplies, food, fishing tackle & rods etc. Wood is available for purchase at $6 a bundle. Ice is available for $6 per bag.

We had the best stay here. Dale was an amazing host who always made sure we had everything and even offered to help plow us out if we got stuck on our way out. The cabin is beautiful, the stove is warm, and our nature walks were awesome. We even got to snuggle Sully the cat during our stay. We will definitely be back!

Laura was an outstanding host. Not only did she invite us for Christmas dinner, but she showed my friend the true meaning of a Canadian Christmas. Her ranch is beautiful, with great walking trails through the trees. I’m excited to camp here come summer and spring time, what a beautiful place.

The rustic cozy cabin was definitely rustic and cozy! Yet it was fully equipped with Wi-Fi, TV, a VHS player, lots of movies, a record player, and Netflix. It was peaceful, warm and the surrounding land was beautiful. I even saw three deer walking by. We also loved the hot tub at night! Being cozy/small, it was a little hard to move around with my partner and two dogs. And yes, there's a beautiful bathroom available, but you have to walk outside to get to it. Not too bad except I have to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night every night. I would have brought our portable toilet with us if I had realized how everything was situated. All in all, Anna and her husband were great and responsive, and we truly enjoyed ourselves! Thank you!

Our stay at this cabin was absolutely wonderful! 😍The place felt so cozy and welcoming — everything was spotless and thoughtfully prepared. You can tell how much love and care went into every little detail.🥹😍
The nature around is stunning, and we truly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere. The host was incredibly kind and made us feel right at home.
We were especially touched by the little treats — the marshmallows and cookies were such a sweet surprise (and so delicious!). Thank you also for the oatmeal — it made our morning breakfast perfect.🫣

We had such a wonderful stay at this cabin! The place is amazing, quiet, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. Guillermo, their lovely dog, was a highlight of the trip. He gave us a little “tour” of the property and played happily with our dog, who was thrilled to run off-leash. Kerry is a fantastic host, always quick to answer our questions and make us feel welcome. We truly enjoyed our time here and are already planning our next visit this winter.

My partner and I absolutely loved the cabin. Beautiful details, comfortable bed, nice touches and everything you need to set up a little camp kitchen on the porch. The property is beautiful, the cabin is surrounded by trees. The little outhouse is very cute and does not smell like an outhouse because of the composting toilet. It even has a bag shower. I wish we could have stayed longer, I hope we'll be back!

Arriving on this land, I felt a sense of peace roll through me. My girlfriends and I stayed in the Tipi. It was magical. The grounds are immaculately kept. We were very spoiled with the washroom facilities as well as the outdoor kitchen. The beds were extremely comfortable with soft linen and warm blankets. The host did not miss any details to help us feel comfortable and met all of our amenity needs. The sunrise and sunsets were beautifully held on the horizon. Nature was all around us, including the cows and beautiful majestic white bull. All of the gardens and flower beds held details and surprises. Dragonflies were everywhere!
A short distance away, we visited Chip Lake. Here we were able to have a drumming ceremony as well as enjoy some paddle boarding. The water was not conducive to us swimming in it, as it is shallow and appears to have a vast ecosystem. We did travel 30 minutes up the highway to the Pambina river and enjoyed a refreshing cool off.
I would highly recommend visiting this site. I have full intentions of gathering my whole tribe of friends for a full weekend next year.

We booked this cabin through HipCamp and were left with rather mixed impressions. The cabin itself is very cozy, styled like a hunting lodge, with a true “retro” atmosphere. Inside everything is simple but tasteful — it really feels like a little corner of nature where you can disconnect from everyday life. We genuinely enjoyed this authenticity and sense of peace.
Unfortunately, at the very end of our stay, a situation occurred that spoiled the overall impression. As we were getting ready to leave, the hosts let out their large dog. The animal behaved quite aggressively, which felt unsafe — especially since we had our 4-month-old baby with us. We really appreciated the atmosphere of this place, but it would be important for the hosts to consider this issue with pets, as guest safety matters a lot.
Overall, the place has great potential for a wonderful stay, and we sincerely hope this aspect will be addressed.

This is the second time I've visited. Camped last year and stayed in the cabin this year. Absolutely love this space. Very quiet and peaceful. Spent most of our time outdoors, hoping it would rain so we could listen to it hit the metal roof, no such luck. Cabin is well stocked and the hosts are very accommodating. Will definitely be back!

My friend & I had an amazing time at Dale & Colleen's. They are wonderful hosts - friendly, helpful and there were so many more great amenities than we expected or read about. The property is expansive and is well maintained. Our cabin and washroom was so clean and there were many added touches such as body wash, soap and towels. The cats were very friendly and sweet - we loved them! Beds were very comfortable and cozy. Too many awesome things to list!! We'll be back again without a doubt.
