We came for a couple days camp but subsequently reading about the land management of the stud had me even more intrigued and impressed. My only regret from a really enjoyable camp on the plateau was that I didn’t engage Nick for long enough to hear more about everything.
Aside that, the place was just beautiful, Nick was a gracious host (we didn’t get to meet Liz this time) and we felt lucky and grateful to stay on the property.

Spring fed dam
So private and so quiet! Road in to campsites is suitable to off road campers as stated in their description. We love Spring Fed Dam at Risdon! Hosts Nick and Liz are lovely. Spring fed dam is a nice protected spot if storms are on the radar. Loved hearing the dingoes in the mornings too. Managed one swim in the dam on our four day stay. Water level a bit low so had to wade through some algae to get to the clear part. Just be careful if you have kids with you. There are some submerged sharp bits of logs around just under the surface. More suited to sensible adult floating on a blow up lounge. We will certainly be back yet again.

What a fantastic long weekend we had! The horses each had a lovely big paddock. We had a great camp site right next to them, with no one else in sight apart from the cows who came to visit us. It was so relaxing and peaceful, it was exactly what we needed! Thanks Liz and Nicholas!

Grass Tree Hideaway
This campsite would one of the best campgrounds that I have stayed at. It was very exclusive, and didn’t see a single person the whole time. Would highly recommend to anyone.

This was my second camping trip to Risdon Stud and my wifes first ever camping trip. Couldn't ask for a better place to get away from Brisbane for a few days and The Plateau site was picture perfect again. It's a great drive out from Brisbane via Beaudesert and Boonah with plenty of places you can stop along the way. But once at Risdon Stud its a fun drive around the property to get to the various sites Nick and Liz have setup exclusively for Hipcampers. We even brought the dog this time and we all had an absolute ball - it was nice, peaceful and relaxing.
We will be back - again ;)

Plateau is exactly what the name instills. A large flat grassy area with a view to the west, the range and stunning sunsets.
Reception is not great so make sure you download some movies to watch if that’s your thing.
There is heaps of firewood to burn and a couple of fire pit areas.
This was our first time at Plateau but we are regulars at this farm. Every trip is fantastic if you are self sufficient and like the solitude of bush camping…
Nick and Liz are fab hosts and very generous with their time in helping first-timers find their little secret paradise.
Our preferred sites on this farm are :
1. Crows nest (close to 10 visits by us)
2. Plateau
3. Fig Tree Hill
4. Race track.
All in all - a fantastic spot if it’s not too windy !!!

The Plateau was a great tucked away spot to camp. Very simple space with room enough to run around and kick the footy. Nick and Liz are lovely to talk to and very welcoming hosts.

Railway tunnel
Be aware that there is a water crossing on the way to the house. We weren’t aware and my friend almost didn’t persue due to fear of the unknown under the water. We were meant to stay at railway, however due to the clearance of our cars (Yaris urban and 2001 hilux) we were unable to camp at this location. Nicholas escorted us down near the entrance way 2 gates in and we didn’t get any service being Optus, so we opted to come back into the first gate which was right near the road. The ground was flat, we all sat on 3G most of the time (Optus and telstra), the trucks were a bit loud - obviously due to being close the road, the cows visited in the afternoon and the bay and palomino horse came to the fence around midday. The mare was very fiesty and was not interested in being touched - which was respected. Overall was a quiet and good spot to camp. If you have a smaller car, try and ask if they’d meet you at the gate for this same location instead of crossing the water system. Would return in the future if I had a 4WD.

Beautiful spot with awesome views. Crows Nest can be windy so just check your weather. Sunsets are awesome. Feels like you are in the middle of nowhere but only just outside of Warwick. Love it!

Absolutely top weekend camping in Kangaroo Corner at Risdon Stud with our Horses. Magnificent countryside to explore on horseback, peaceful, family friendly environment. Nick and Liz were outstanding hosts only too happy to help accommodate our many needs with such a large group of 10 campers and 10 horses! Highly recommend this destination for anyone with horses wanting a family friendly camping holiday with their horse's. We will be back!

Thanks Nick and Liz for another wonderful long weekend of camping! It’s magic to be perched on top of the world with magnificent views all around! Once again the site was beautifully maintained, easily accessed (4WD), with plenty of firewood available! Definitely return for another stay!

Exactly what we wanted: peaceful, beautiful, tidy and welcoming hosts. The views were amazing & the site well maintained & private. Didn’t see another person. Spectacular sunsets & we explored the property to see all the great wildlife. We were sad to leave & cannot wait to come back.

We always love coming to camp at Risdon Stud! The sites are always clean and tidy, never near other campers and zero phone connection. So for us it is a total break away from the city and work. There are lots of tracks and areas to walk and explore. There is no water or toilets so as long as you are fully set for remote camping this is a great place for some R&R.
Nick and Liz are wonderful hosts and even came and checked in after a night of bad weather rolled through. Double thumbs up from us!

So calm and secluded. After we were shown to our campsite by Liz and Nick (who were absolutely lovely) we didn’t see them or anyone else for the rest of our trip - even though it was the Easter weekend! It was just the best, we will definitely be back.

We didn't camp at the Plateau as the weather was a bit wild and windy, so we switched to Grass Tree hideaway which fortunately was available. Liz and Nicholas were fantastic hosts and the property was lovely. We had a great time and we will return to this piece of paradise as soon as we can.

I can not say enough good things about not only this beautiful camping area but the wonderful people who run it. Sweeping hills with glorious views and a relaxed secluded feel. Everyone there is lovely and incredibly helpful, on my last day that I was unlucky enough to have a flat tire on a public holiday, and silly enough not to keep a spare. Tim spent the next 2 hours not only helping me remove it but contacted a friend of his in Stanthorp who happened to be working that day and was able to fix it up. Absolutely incredible people. I look forward to coming back.

The weather was very windy at the time, so a different site was chosen. Lovely area by a dam was perfect for a night stay and relaxing. Our 2wd van has no issues getting to the site down some dirt roads.

The land is stunning and you can watch the sun rise and set, there are lots of birds, beautiful cows, kangaroos and a number of walking tracks if you want to go on a hike or a stroll. We had our two 11-year-old dogs with us who loved the break but had to sleep for a few days afterwards due to excitement overload. The firepit even had wood chopped up for us to get us started. Nicholas and Liz were fantastic, especially when we got into a spot of bother, they are the kind of people that you want as long-term friends. The property is amazing and apart from the fire pit you would not think anyone else had been there. We didn’t want to tell too many people and keep the place to ourselves!
