Situated in the midst of picturesque Lake Moodemere Estate, the Moodemere Lake House offers the ultimate in wine destinations. Breakfast provisions with estate grown and made preserves may be delivered to your Lake House. When in season, a large bowl of fresh oranges from our century old orchard is provided. The Lake House is situated 7km’s from Rutherglen, and nestled in the midst of number of wineries and attractions. At least six wineries may be easily accessed by foot, bicycle, or horse, along the walking, trail and bike path that runs along our vineyard and the myriad of pretty country lanes. Golfers are spoilt for choice with three championship golf courses within a 30 minute radius.
Despite all the region has to offer, guests may not want to leave the Moodemere Lake House. The day can be whiled away right on your doorstep. From the deck you may spend the morning watching for platypus. There are over 100 species of birds, including eagles, swans and pelicans. Native wildlife such as echidnas and kangaroos are regular visitors. A short walk along the bank of Lake Moodemere and the vineyard leads to the cellar door where guests may enjoy a relaxed lunch and private wine tasting. At dusk light up the fire pit and experience the spectacular sunset over Lake Moodemere.
A walk around Lake Moodemere, and along the Murray River will take around two hours and provide many memorable, unique, and beautiful sights. The track is also suitable for cyclists and horses. Lake Moodemere Estate is a working vineyard and farm. The changing seasons offers opportunities to get involved, such as grape picking or experiencing the shearing shed in action.

There is a BBQ set up for you to use and basic pantry items (oil, salt, pepper etc) there is a lovely fire pit with logs bench seats but probably worth packing your camping chair. Ashlan is a working farm, and we also have an array of wildlife visiting. The property is a birdwatcher's delight, with a variety of species making the property home. If you like star gazing, you have found the right spot. We have no light pollution, so its the perfect place to take advantage of seeing the stars above.
Unfortunately, as we are a working farm, the property is not pet friendly nor do we offer any animal experiences., however you may be lucky enough to see our friendly (and crazy goats). They do like a pat and love apples and mandarins.
The cottage has three bedrooms and sleeps a maximum of six guests. Kitchen, wifi, laundry and BBQ.
All guests will need to supply car registration details. This will give you access to the property. There is CCTV located at the front of the property and going up the driveway.
We live onsite (in a separate house) if you need any assistance.
You will need to bring your own supplies (food and drink) as the closest shop is 20 mins away. However feel free to go out for Friday night Fish and Chips at the Strathbogie Store, or check out the great country pubs at either Euroa or Violet Town. Just watch out for wildlife on the roads. Access to the property is also via approx 2kms of unsealed road.

Inviting you to relax and re-energize, there are 4 Villas, each with a private garden outlook. Each villa has a verandah overlooking either a garden or a sunset view. The villas have a basic kitchen with cooking facilities, a coffee machine, and a microwave. The open living area includes a lounge and dining. Villas 3 and 4 are pet-friendly.
Included are quality linen and bathroom essentials. The open-plan living area has split-system cooling and heating throughout. The lounge folds out to a sofa bed and we can also add a roll-a-way bed to accommodate up to 5 people. Sunset Villas is an ideal location for a family get-together or reunion with the accommodation, grounds, and BBQ area. Private parking is available on-site.

Weekend Trip to Blackwood Cabin
Blackwood cabin is in such a beautiful spot, it was so peaceful to listen to the nearby river and birds. The cabin is very cosy with the fireplace inside and very well appointed. It was a lovely place to spend a weekend and relax and visit neighbouring towns for dinner and sightseeing. Lovely and welcoming hosts, thank you for sharing your cabin with us!

Ann & Geoff were the most lovely hosts, very friendly and accommodating. The cabin was great, little outdoor show & toilet, nice firepit and hammock. Visited the hedge maze 5 mins up the road & the kids loved it, good coffee too.

It’s in a beautiful spot with plenty of bird life, a small stream only 200 meters away and a well presented log cabin with an open fire pit out the front. Minimal phone coverage but that suited us getting away for some chill time.

Ruhiger Zeltplatz mit einigen Hoftieren drum herum. Die Gastgeber haben mir alles gut erklärt was ich wo finde. Die Anfahrt ist einfach zu finden. Wenn man Glück hat kann man ein Schnabeltier im Bach entdecken.

The host was very friendly and welcoming. It was lovely chatting with them and feeding the animals. We were camping at the site 1 and saw a platypus in the morning! The site have a warm and comfy space with kitchen, bathroom and toilet. There’s even bed, couch and tables for visitor who need it.
