Don't forget your mozzie coils, they're out and about at the moment! And a bit of firewood while the season for it lasts... We have 3 beautiful and secluded sites to offer, right in the heart of the Dwellingup State Forest, 1 of them on the banks of the Murray River. All sites here enjoy a minimum of 100 metres separation. We love all animals here at Nanga River Retreat and we'd love for you to bring yours along (Remember to book our pet friendly site – ‘River Camp’, and dont forget to bring your little yellow bags please). We also enjoy an abundance of wildlife traffic through the property. We would love to see all the Witches, Wiccans, and other Weirdos out there, we encourage you to book in for a spell. (pun intended) You'll fit right in. 🧙‍♀️ We invite discreet devotees of herbs, and mushrooms, to visit for a while, you will absolutely love it here, with privacy you just cannot get at the park 🤙 Come and find yourself, or maybe lose yourself, down by the river in Dwellingup, forest getaways dont get much better. Please Note; Loud drunkenness, anti-social behaviour, and rude misconduct will lead to eviction without refund, and reporting to Hipcamp. Also, no off-roading. No motor bikes, quads, buggies, or any other form of self-powered transport in the dirt. In-fact while you're here, any sort of hooning on the property will lead to eviction without refund and reporting to Hipcamp. So folks, the idea of this campsite and indeed of the entire property, is that it's intended as a tranquil and quiet retreat for those that wish it to be so. Thanks for understanding. A small advice for those bringing children, in fact for anyone that intends to swim in or be beside the water, this is a wild and unfenced river access area and all care should be taken in supervision. Please see the site rules. One more thing, feel free to contact us via Hipcamp if you're interested in staying here but for some reason fall outside of the site parameters listed on this add, we're pretty flexible and in most cases will be willing to accommodate your needs. A spare site for APPROVED special request guests and last minute desperado’s, not normally used, and we’ll probably say no. Enjoy the choice of 2 locations; The Old Shack (closer to the road, drive through, strictly no pets), or; The Drop (4x4 or walk in access only, closer to the river, very steep bank, no vans, no campers, strictly no pets, no drive thru, restricted access when wet, well isolated site, only a lucky few will get to stay here). At either site you’ll enjoy all the access privileges to the forest and river that the other guests enjoy, but with no fire pit, no cooking ring, and no other amenities at all. Its the Wish Id Booked Earlier deal 😉 You must be fully self sufficient for both sites, ie you must have your own toilet - ‘short drops’ will not be tolerated 💩👎 All waste, human and other, is to be removed from site. We have 2 beautiful and secluded sites to offer, one right on the banks of the Murray River and both deep in the heart of the Dwellingup State Forest. About 200 mtrs between sites. An excellent and inspiring spot for artists, with a hundred views worth capturing in any form from charcoal thru oil, to digital. Many wonderfully tranquil places to sit and ponder, draw, write, and wonder. Truely 'En plein air' Amazing birdwatching here, with highly populated tree lines and shrubby areas surrounding and throughout the property. Superb Star gazing opportunities too, with wide open and un-interrupted views of the night sky in every direction, from various vantage points available around this lovely 40 acres of beautiful river front property. Nanga River Retreat is an outdoor adventurer's dream, with truly wild forest country to be found between the property and the river in many places. 🌲 The heart of the last real Jarrah-forest is right here for you to explore, with canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, hiking, and biking all great ways to spend your time here. In fact, if youre into bikes, you'll be happy to know there's quite a few things around town to amuse you. Firstly, it's only 10 minutes to a great local skate park and pump track, one that lures riders of bikes n boards alike of every skill level and from all around. Its a family friendly arena and boasts a really good playground right there on site for the little ones (and right next to Way Points Cafe for the not so little...). A bit further out is the Turner Hill bike track, and of course from town there is local access to the world famous MundaBiddi trail. Also, and much closer to home, is the Murray Valley Trails Mountain-Bike Area, and as the crow flies its only around 2kms away. Western Australia's newest and best mountain bike trail area, with 35kms of single-track MTB trails, varying from Easy rolls around Lane Poole Reserve, to Difficult and fast black diamond downhill runs for those brave souls who dare it. Check out Murray Valley Trails online. If bikes are not your thing, or for anyone that just wants to tap into their inner primate, Trees Adventures Dwellingup is only a short drive over the hill (just 5.5kms from the gate) and is an incredible day out with the kids. Actually its an incredible day out for anyone with the rightly mixed senses of adventure and humour. This is a blast, its much more fun than it might sound like, and we highly recommend it! Dwellingup is known as 'The place that trails meet', and there is local access to a seemingly endless selection of walk paths, bridle trails, and bike tracks of every description. There's plenty an orienteering challenge that also awaits, 🧭 this is a perfect part of the scarp for those wandering souls who enjoy getting lost in order to find their way... We love all animals here at Nanga River Retreat and we'd love for you (by pre-arrangement please) to bring yours along. We enjoy an abundance of wildlife traffic through the property, and even have quite the zoo ourselves, with chickens and ducks, pigs and sometimes sheep to be found around the place. A couple of cats, some fish, all sorts... (dont forget to bring your little yellow bags please guys) We would love to see all the Witches, Wiccans, and various other Weirdos out there come on down, and we encourage you to book in for a spell. So, social drinkers, social smokers, and all deep thinkers are definitely welcome, and when you get here, we can either mingle and chat, or your time and space can be your very own, that's entirely up to you, BUT! We dont want 'The Party People' here. Sorry. We dont need you to act Amish, within reason you can drink smoke sing celebrate, have your tunes, whatever, but this is the wrong venue for running amok. Loud drunkenness, anti-social behaviour, and rude misconduct will lead to eviction without refund, and reporting to Hipcamp. Also, and sorry about this one too folks, but no ripping around out here on anything with an engine. No off-roading. No motor bikes, quads, buggies, or any other form of self-powered transport in the dirt. In-fact while you're here, any sort of hooning on the property will lead to eviction without refund and reporting to Hipcamp. However all you mad mud mashers out there, for those that do want to go somewhere and get tractionally challenged, you'll only be a short drive from the famous Captain Fawcett 4x4 track, (about 1/4 hour away), and we are sure that down there you can get all the off-roading you want to, right out of your system! Check it out online. And of course there's hundreds of bush tracks all around here. So folks, the idea of this campsite and indeed of the entire property, is that it's intended as a tranquil and quiet retreat for those that wish it to be so. This is how we want it too, and this atmosphere of a quiet getaway must be observed by all comers please. Thanks for understanding. You might have a late arriver that needs to bring a third vehicle, your bus might be 1/2 a metre longer than the sites drop box allows for, or maybe you dont own a telly and have 7 kids you need to bring? Whatever it is, dont sweat it. Get in touch and run it by us, we're pretty flexible and in most cases will be willing to accommodate your needs. This beautiful waterside site among the trees is for the truly self sufficient camper that can bring their own throne. Be it chemical or storage, you'll need you own loo! (No 💩short-drops here please guys, yuk!) Outside of a reasonable privacy space of around 50mtrs from our house and the entire primary campsite, the property is yours to wander. From the very start Shane was informative and great with the property map and welcome pack, we were so lucky to have had the whole campsite to ourselves we camped at the river campsite, the views did not disappoint, the river was wide and deep, the property is bursting with beautiful trees, wild emus, birds, ducks, pigs, geese just to name a few. Shane and his family have made this property thoughtful to the humble camper, little touches of a bin, a fire fit, a table, a rake and even a port a loo, the driveway entrance of farm memorabilia and the location of this place is epic andthere is lots to do or simply relax and let nature re-energize you. Thank you so much for letting us stay on your property I can't wait to visit again.

NRR Camping was exclusive, had immaculate facilities with lots of space to explore, a river to play in and plenty of wild life to immerse yourself in. 5 minute drive from dwellingup townsite.

We stayed in campsite 2, Turtle Dam, water levels are low being summer, so we decided to set up facing into the bush and beautiful jarrah trees for a nicer outlook. Lots of birdlife and friendly kangaroos visit in the evenings. We didnt realise there was another campsite through the trees opposite ours so not quite as private as we hoped for, but thankfully we didn't hear a sound from the two sets of campers that came and went over the long weekend. Nice stroll to the river near the property but we didnt find it swim-able at the moment so walked to another spot down from the old bridge, with walking trails and swimming access. Lane Poole reserve is also a short drive away. Very peaceful at night once the road quietens and there isn't as much traffic noise - just listen to the frogs and look at the stars. Thanks to Shane for having us

Absolutely awesome weekend at NRR. So peaceful and lots of lovely walks and swim in the Murray River. Shane sent lots of useful information prior to our arrival. We will return!

A beautiful property, only 1 and a half hours from Perth, and 5 minutes from the nice town of dwellingup. Not swimmable options all year round, but for the warmer months when river drys up, Lane Poole Reserve is just across the road. Sites were clean, and flat, bins in site, and toilet too. Didn’t get to meet Shane, it communication was good. I will be back to stay again.

We loved our stay at the Bandicoot landing which lived up to its name - saw Bandicoots in the evening. We swam in the river, saw the emus , kangaroos and a beautiful full moon and star gazing. Would recommend staying here!

Another great stay! Peaceful camping near the river with awesome bird life - saw Rainbow Bee Eaters, Blue Wrens, red tail black cockatoos and kookaburra daily while sitting back and relaxing. Shane is a great host and will be back again!

A great location to just relax and recharge. The birdlife was amazing, so many varieties came by the campsite to say hello. We stayed in campsite 1. The river was just below. It was a lovely few days.

We stayed overnight at River Camp. It is a beautiful secluded spot. Plenty of wildlife. We saw kangaroos, a quenda, blue wrens, parrots, kookaburras and of course some friendly magpies. We are planning to go back shortly.

The spot was perfect and clean and the frogs sung such a symphony as we sat reading by the fire, drinking wine. However, I did not do my research, as Nanga Bush Camp is across the road! Teenagers screaming karaoke from 6 till 10. But I feel like we were unlucky with that. Otherwise, highly recommend!

Lovely little secluded place next to the river and surrounded by trees. It was beautiful, so quiet with just the sounds of nature. The little piglets were so cute too that would come and say hello.

We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the camping lot. Very spacious, with a play swing set for kids (note to self for bringing the grandies next time) Transportable loo clean and operating. Lovely 2 minute to walk down the embankment to the river. Much more privacy than in the National Park. Geese, pigs and little piglets in their pens a good distance away and it was a delight to visit them. Lots of activities to do around the area or just do nothing and enjoy the peace and quiet, the trees and the birds. Spotted a Splendid Blue Wren close to our camp! Yay! Prompt communication from Shane throughout. Thank you Shane, it was just what we needed.

Our stay at Nanga River Retreat was incredible! The campsite was peaceful and beautifully maintained, surrounded by tall jarrah trees. We enjoyed campfires under a sky full of stars. Perfect mix of relaxation and adventure — highly recommended!

A beautiful property to explore. Lots of privacy at the river camp site. Huge site. The later check out time meant we could enjoy our last morning and the tent was dry by the time we packed up. We only got home this afternoon and we're already trying to figure out when we can go again. Thanks for having us!

We had the most wonderful stay at Nanga River Retreat. The setting is beautiful and so peaceful, surrounded by wildlife. Each morning we woke up to the sound of birds, and in the evenings we spotted baby pigs wandering about which was such a sweet surprise. The river and walking tracks made it easy to explore, but it was also the perfect spot just to sit back and soak up the quiet. Everything felt serene, private and relaxed, exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommend if you’re after a calm nature escape

Beautiful spot close to the river and surrounded by tall trees. Flat spot with a central fire pit made the location even better. Very quiet and easy to get to off the road. On site toilet a great extra!

Huge site with no one else around, this was the perfect spot to teach our anxious German Shepherd to relax while camping without having to worry about other dogs nearby. Enough space for small walks to the river and around the property. Gorgeous pigs to visit in their pen. Spotted ducks, kookaburras and kangaroos, also a couple iconic blue wrens. Some fearless geese to watch out for. The owners seemed absolutely lovely and were quick to respond when we found a little duckling that needed some help. Perfect location just minutes from Lane Poole.
