Nestled right beside the Murrundini River, all 3 campsites are beside the river, and well spaced apart for privacy and peace. Campsite 2 (site two) is shady, surrounded by tall swamp gums, black wood wattles and tree ferns. This spot is at its best from late spring through to autumn . Site One is a large flat area beside the river that is good all year round. It has fencing and gates, perfect to let dogs run free without going too far. Site 3 (Craig's flat), is a large open campsite, able to take more camper-vans/ tents with plenty of space. All sites have fire places and gas BBQ's (byo gas bottle) And there are plenty of fish for those that want to try their luck. The original home stead (built in 1876) burnt down in the 2009 black Saturday fires. There still remains many 150+ year old elms and other European trees near the toilet block, which are delightful in autumn. We have some fantastic views from the hill up and down the Murundindi Valley, especially at sunset. We're located only a few short km's from Wilhelmina Falls and Murundindi Scenic Reserve, you get the best part of the river, without the crowds. We are a short drive from Melbourne, and easy access to the townships of Yea and Yarra Glen for supplies if you need them. Amazing, abundant and rare bird life to enjoy and photograph. (see guests photos). With no light pollution this is the ideal spot for star gazing.

Site one is very large, flat and open, right beside the river. It has fencing and a gate you can close to let dogs run freely, while keeping them close. There is a picnic table, and stone fire place, with swing out grill (fire drum with hot plate is available). There is a new gas BBQ with roasting hood (BYO new type black handled gas bottle), please leave clean after use. Be mindful of potential falling branches when setting up your site, there is plenty of space to site your tent/ van safely. There are steps with hand rail for easy access to the river. There is a 3000L rainwater tank for drinking water.

Secluded camp; shady spot, surrounded by tall gum trees, Black-wood and Silver wattles, and tree ferns. The river is right beside the camp, and is shallower here, ideal for young kids to play and slash in. Fire drum provided with hot plate/ grill. There is now a hooded gas BBQ for your use (BYO gas bottle, please leave clean) This site, while perfect in warm weather, can be damp in winter and early spring. Recommend 4WD in winter and early spring. Please be mindful of potential falling branches. There is a cleared overflow area at the entrance to site 2 proper that is not under the large gum trees, for those that are concerned.

Craigs Flat - Site 3

Site 3, "Craig's Flat", is a large, flat cleared area on the edge of the big paddock, beside the river. It can accommodate several camper-vans/ tents, etc. It is flat and dry, although the track to it crosses a drainage ditch, that now has an all weather crossing (see photo). There is a gas BBQ (BYO gas bottle) with roasting hood for use. (please clean after use). * Note: recommend 4WD to access if very wet weather. 2WD fine most of the year. There is original native vegetation along the river banks, and newer plantings on the paddock side. Heaps of native wildlife and birds to see. This site is suited to quiet family groups, not for party's.  There are great views from the hill, and it is close to scenic reserves, waterfalls and wineries. Plenty of fish in the river for those that want to try.

What a great little find only 1.5 hours from Melbourne. The site was beautiful and well looked after. Michael was a pleasure to deal with and we had no issues at all. We're definitely going to share this place with friends. Thanks for having us Michael.

We had a great time at Ferny Glades. Clean and tranquil listening to the river while sitting around the campfire. Michael was helpful and upbeat. It was easy to find and we fitted our van there easily. We will be back.

Loved my solo stay at Fern Glade Site 3. Spacious, natural, beautiful and remote enough to feel like a break from the world and I was lucky enough to be the only person at the entire campsite. Michael was great to chat to, helpful, communities and full of useful info about the site and the area. Facilities were simple but did the job perfectly and there are plenty of little nooks and walks to explore on the property. I'll definitely be back!

We had such a lovely weekend camping here. The area is stunning, and everything is well thought out. Michael showed such care and understanding for the wildlife which we loved. And it’s so close to Melbourne. A wonderful time, thank you Michael.

Of all the places within striking distance of Melbourne and despite strong competition.,This is the best. At 60 years of age and tired of getting splinters in my back doing Number 2s against trees., The dunny makes the place., Absolute bush camping with a toilet. Great for ladies and my back.Not to mention the appreciative fauna and flora

Best Hipcamp yet! Actual privacy, not "privacy" where you are 30m away from your neighbour. We were at site 1, and the owner actually has a little cabin near this site but it doesn't face Site 1 and is out of earshot. Site 2 is probably the most private site. Fern Glad is very peaceful, the creek is beautiful, the birds are lovely, and you can go on a few nearby walks up a hill or along the river. The toilet is clean, the fire pits are nice, and we would definitely go back!

What a beautiful spot! Sites are very well positioned. The Murrindindi river runs through the property. The kids successfully caught trouts with flies and lures. Nice little hike to the Love Seat. Lots of space for kids to play sports and for doggies to explore. Michael was very responsive. The toilet block was definitely a bonus! We will be back in summer time again.

Lovely flat campsite with plenty of room for a large group. It was nice and quiet during our stay, as there weren’t many sites or campers around. The toilets were just a short walk away, and the BBQ, grill, and picnic table came in very handy. The river was crystal clear and absolutely beautiful.

We booked sites 2 and 3 for a group of 14 - tent camping with 3 gazebos. There was ample room and both sites provided different experiences. BBQ was a welcome addition and the property is gorgeous. Didnt get a chance to go to the lookout but we had more than enough sky to look at in our own site. Site 3 being more open allowed for us to spread out more, while the shade and ground on site 2 did mean it wasn't the ideal wintery spot - I can see it being wonderful in summer as it had the best swimming spot. Neighbours do reside on the hill opposite site 3, so be mindful of noise and their escape artist friendly dog. Toilets were great and only a short walk from site 3. Michael was clear in communicating and we only met him when he was working on an adjacent property. We'll def be returning in the future - the dogs were huge fans of the open space.

Overall the site was secure and the views were pretty. Unfortunately, we were harassed by other campers on multiple occasions (from racist remarks to random drop ins to our site) whilst our children were present. Ammenities could’ve been maintained better as they’re a potential hazard to young children.

We had a great time camping for the first time with our dogs. Mick was great and helped get us sorted when we arrived. We all enjoyed the wildlife encounters (wombats, black wallaby, kangaroo, echidna, possum and over 19 types of birds).

What a great place to stay! Site two was especially nice, felt so private and serene. There was a creek which ran through the back of the site, so beautiful and calming to wake up and fall asleep to. Michael the host was super accomodating, the toilet was clean and there was a fire pit at each site with a BBQ, which was a great addition. Would definitely recommend this place to my friends and will be returning in future.

Loved this spot for a mid-week camp. Super quiet, clean, well maintained camping are, all you can hear is the river and the birds. Fair bit of wildlife about, unfortunately didn't get to spot a platypus. There's a donkey across the river, that made itself known in the middle of the night, which was a suprise..haha. I was self sufficient, so didn't use the facilities available but they looked all good. Take care on the unsealed road off the main roads, outside of the property. A few sketchy potholes if you're inattentive or driving late at night. A fair bit of wildlife crossing as well, so slow it down. Track in from the main road was all good but may be a bit boggy in the wet. Phone reception was out while I was there but was no issue for me, specifically wanted to disconnect. All in all, great spot.
