We camped on Johns farm over cup weekend and had such a lovely time. John is such a good ambassador for the area and we got daily history lessons on the area that were so interesting! The farm is really lovely with sheep,goats,chickens and even some alpacas! We had a paddock all to ourselves where our pooches could roam free so they had a ball. Would 100% recommend this site.

We had an area to ourselves. Surrounded by animals and pets that kept our children very happy and content.
John and his wife are EXTREMELY accommodating and happy to share some local knowledge.
Would highly recommend a stay here..so much to see, do and experience and with Hosts that will bend over backwards to ensure yiu have a remarkable experience..thanks John again....we WILL be back for sure !!!

Thank you so much for having us over Easter. We really appreciated your warm hospitality and how peaceful and well-kept the land was. The campsite was very clean with no droppings around, which made it extra comfortable to settle in.
Listening to John’s stories was honestly one of the highlights of the trip. We learned so much about the history of Waterloo, and it gave us the space to reflect and see things from a new perspective. It’s rare to walk away from a camping trip feeling this grounded and inspired.
Beaufort (which was about 8 mins away) was also great and very EV-friendly! We drove up from Melbourne and still had about 38% battery left on our Tesla when we arrived. There are four Evie charging spots in town, and we used the opportunity to walk around the Saturday market before heading back to camp and chill for the afternoon.
Thanks again for creating such a special space. We left feeling calm, grateful, and already hoping to return. Even our cat had the best time!

We had an amazing time at John's place! He was very accommodating and was great to have a yarn with. We will definitely stay there again when we are next in the area.
We had two families camping together and John was great with the kids, he took everyone for a farm tour to see all his animals!

John’s place at Waterloo is an absolute gem, nestled among rolling hills that offer breathtaking views and a true sense of peace and tranquillity. The flat, fully fenced campground is perfect for letting your dog run free while you unwind.
John has a charming mix of farm animals—sheep, goats, and even a couple of alpacas—which add to the rustic charm of the property. Fresh eggs are available at a great price, making breakfast that much better.
Evenings by the campfire are the perfect way to wind down, surrounded by the serene beauty of the countryside. And then there’s John himself—an excellent host with a cheerful, welcoming nature. He’s full of fascinating stories about the local area and happy to share its rich history.
Thank you, John, for your hospitality and for making our stay so enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back!

This was our last night of a round trip around Ballarat. John is very welcoming and made sure he was around to welcome us and show us to our cleared paddock on arrival. He is new to the area and super passionate about moving to the country and hobby farming, so if you have any interest in this lifestyle he will share a yarn with you.
The location is good with a nice breeze from the surrounding hills, and the small farm has all the lovely farm noises we love. Bailey even had a play with PJ which was fun.
We arrived quite late and left early the next morning so didn’t explore much.
The only downer is the main road is quite close and the trucks are a bit noisy, but we would still recommend the stay

I loved my time here. The best Hipcamp experience I've had. John is a great host and took the time and effort to show me around. If you like learning about the local history, you should definitely stay here at least once!

Great place to get away to, John is a great host and very knowledgeable on the history of the area, showed me around the farm and places of interest in the area, the camp area was perfect and very dog friendly with gates and fences.Would definitely go back again.

What a lovely trip! I took my daughter camping for the night at the farm and we had so much fun. John was such a legend showing us all around and giving my 3yo a grand tour of the animals which she absolutely loved!

What an awesome experience! John was so hospitable from the moment we booked his property. His land is beautiful and we are very lucky he allows us to use it. His wealth of knowledge in the area is incredible and the time he took with our kids was beyond what we expected. Our kids had a wonderful time and we definitely will book again. Thank you to John.

Unbelievable host, catered for everything we needed and even offered us things we didn’t even think of.
He even sectioned off a part of his property where my dog could peacefully run around in 🙌🙌

John is a lovely host and so helpful when my van had a flat tyre, in helping me arrange to be fixed. The site was very comfortable flat land hat didn’t need leveling, and with a pretty view, fenced off in a large area so my dogs could run freely and I didn’t have to worry about them. There were no cow patties to be seen thank goodness which I’ve started to try to avoid with dogs. The alpacas and sheep in the nearby areas of the farm were nice to wake to along with the kangaroos.

Mind you it got down to minus 4.7 degrees there in June. So be aware. Ideal family spot.

John was a great host, directions were clear.
The area we were camped in was large and secure for the dogs to run around in.
There was a little bit of traffic noise early in the night but it didn't really bother us.
Close to town and not too far from Ballarat.

A beautiful area to camp, we had a fenced paddock to ourselves so the dogs could happily run amok. John was a great host, provided hoses for water access, bins, and information about the local area. We had a great time!

Such a beautiful place, really lucky that John shares his property. Very peaceful and quiet, lots of native animals and local animals to keep you entertained.
John was amazing, very helpful and has a great affinity and knowledge of his area. He was a pleasure to speak to and deal with.

After a very last minute emergency booking, John promptly contacted us and saved us from being stuck without accomodation. He was very welcoming and did everything to ensure we had a most comfortable stay. As for the farm itself, it's beautiful and very picturesque. He has a lot of farm animals, such as sheep, goats and alpacas, that you can go up and pet. There is also an abundaunt amount of wildlife. We saw kangaroos, millions of rabbits and big red fox (to farmers dismay). Plenty of beautiful birds flying about, and gathering in the ponds. With zero light pollution the farm is also a star gazers delight. The farm also has plenty of space, with gated areas that pet dogs can use to run about safely offleash to explore.
Will be returning in the near future.

We had a lovely stay at John's place, secure yard for the dogs to run off lead for some of the time. Close to Buangor and Mt Cole for drives and entertainment. John was very helpful, provided some local knowledge of the area, and offered up use of his metal detector for the kids to see what they could find. Had the place to ourselves which was lovely. A bit tight getting round the house and through the gates.
