A nine hole mini golf course is ready to challenge you!! Only one booking is taken for any night. As soon as you book, the property becomes yours and is unavailable to anybody else 10 minutes down the road you'll find the quaint village of Talbot. The town retains a number of historic buildings from its prosperous gold mining days. Some of the old shops which line this street are now home to speciality businesses, including a clothing boutique, bookshop and homewares store. The restored London House building in Scandinavian Crescent operates as a cafe and visitor information centre and is surrounded by an attractive community garden. At the corner of Scandinavian Crescent and Fyfe Street is the Talbot Pioneers Memorial Playground with BBQ and picnic shelters. A farmers market operates in the town streets every 3rd Sunday of the month. The pool is great in summer months and the general store is well managed by Prue and open 8am to 7pm every day 2 hours from Melbourne, 1 hours from Ballarat.

An established, natural 12 acre bush block. Serene with nature - highlighted by kangaroos, kookaburras, parrots and echidnas. The block is reserved for nature - with plenty of firewood and protected by native trees from prevailing winds. Gold prospecting is an avid local activity. The forest floor is covered with bark/leaves and native ground covers, with Dionella very common. You can choose a site anywhere you wish, or use one of the pre prepared sites. This cabin amongst the towering gums allows a serene, freedom feeling whilst sheltered and enjoying many comforts of home. The birds will wake you in the morning (if not kookas in the night) and the starry skies are something to behold. Lots of wildlife especially kangaroos, parrots and echidnas. Gold prospecting is a popular activity in surrounding areas. Wildflowers in Summer and fungi in winter provide intrigue and discovery for nature enthusiasts. The wood stove provides for cooking and for warmth, making the cabin a haven in summer and winter. A 1000 litre drinking water tank and sink for cleaning and meal preparation adds some glamour too. Surrounded by Lillicur State Forest, opportunities for walks, horse riding and bike riding abound Two mountain bikes are ready to roll and a solar panel will keep phones charged A holding yard will keep your horses happy and shaded. A nine hole mini golf course will challenge your physical and mental talents. Ozzi Mozzies are provided. Only one booking is taken for any night. Once you have booked, the property is yours and is designated unavailable to anybody else on hipcamp You may bring vans and tents , too - at $30 per site. 10 minutes down the road you'll find the quaint village of Talbot. The town retains a number of historic buildings from its prosperous gold mining days which can be observed by taking a stroll along Scandinavian Crescent in the heart of the town. Some of the old shops which line this street are now home to speciality businesses, including a clothing boutique, bookshop and homewares store. Peaceful bush setting, plenty of flat ground for tents. Ian popped by and chopped up some for us. Close to Talbot, nice little town with a pub 10 mins down the road.

Echidna Retreat Cabin
If you’re looking for a peaceful getaway surrounded by nature, Echidna Retreat Cabin is the perfect choice. Tucked away in the woods, it’s an ideal spot for a small group of 2–3 people to relax and unwind. The cozy retreat is made even better with a mini golf course on-site and breathtaking views of the Milky Way at night, truly the cherry on top of an already wonderful experience! It’s a great budget-friendly escape, and we’re incredibly grateful to Ian for sharing his beautiful property with us.

We had a great time at Ian’s bush block. Lovely and quiet, with the place to ourselves (and some Roos & birds!). Stunning stars at night. The outdoor table and fire area were particularly helpful, and we had a fun time on the minigolf too!

Ian’s place was a great spot to spend a long weekend camping. The property was as it’s described and we appreciated the amenities provided. The toilet system is a clever idea and was nicer than a drop toilet. We were glad we bought our own drinking water and only used the potable water for hand washing. We would happily stay at Ian’s place again.

Great spot to unplug and get "away from it all"! Mini golf was a hit for our 5yo, dogs had a great time roaming the land, wonderful star gazing at night. We had a great time here and will look forward to come back again. Thanks Ian!

The area is nice and private, and had so many amenities! You can’t go expecting luxury, but this was one of the most comfortable hill camping experiences I’ve had. Very good value!

We enjoyed camping at this site. The property is large in a very quiet area (probably only saw two vehicles that weren't in our group). There is a cabin there if you don't like tenting (or if something goes wrong with your tent!) The toilet setup should probably be better explained before reaching the site (or maybe I just didn't read enough). It's just a bucket in a cabin, that you empty into a pre-dug hole. If I knew this we would have brought our own chemical toilet. But, we still had a great time.

Thanks Ian for a fabulous long weekend at your gorgeous bush block!! We were three families, there was plenty of space to set up with distance between us and large area for big communal space. Plenty of fire wood available to keep us warm day and night, the drop dunny was a luxury and the kids enjoyed riding around the place on the bikes and playing the mini golf. We loved being the only campers on site, thanks again!

Echidna Retreat Cabin
A really unique place to camp, to feel fully immersed in the bush. We stayed for the recent Clunes Book Festival and were in great proximity to the events, though would love to return and spend a bit more time at the property to enjoy the fire and abundant wildlife. The mini golf was a huge hit with the kids!

We were expecting to get away and it provided just that. If you want a signal and to browse the internet this is not the place for you. All amenities were satisfactory. The kids had fun on the bikes and even found some yummy treats. It is a little out of the way and the roads are not great. It is however a great site for wildlife, there’s an abundance.

We loved the retreat cabin stay and my dogs loved their stay. Clear Instructions and there was no phone reception and which makes sense to have a peaceful stay.

My husband says 10/10 just by being a Saints supporter :). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay on your off-grid property playing mini golf, cycling, and exploring your land. We appreciate the basic amenities the shack offers, along with a composting toilet, sink with drinking water, fire pit and dog kennels outdoors. The bunk beds were very comfortable and we all slept so well. It was beautiful waking up to the sunrise and sounds of kookaburras. We would gladly stay here again. Thanks Ian for sharing your wonderful property with us!

Nice place. If you have a large group that are staying in tents, might find it difficult to find a flat ground. The camping area is clean and tidy. Plenty of firewood even after cooking all of our meals for a large group of people for 3 days. Clean and tidy amenities that were greatly appreciated. There's rainwater tank for use which was very handy. Drop toilet was one of the cleanest drop toilets I've been. Overall, we all had a great time over the long weekend at Ian's property. We thank you for letting us stay.
