Sandhills/Horse camp
The property is the perfect getaway if you want to get away from it all. So idylic and quiet. Our host Tim met us when we arrived, which made finding the camp easy. We booked right at the last minute, not realising it was a Victorian long weekend. We stayed for 4 nights in the Horse Camp, with our schnauzer and cavoodle, who
had the best time ever, as this was, super dog friendly.
Literally, you have the complete area to yourself, so you can choose to be protected, by the huge sand embankment or park yourself, under a magnificent gum.
Tim owns 700 acres of land that has the magnificent Murray river weaving its way through the landscape. We would have loved, to have been right by the river but it was literally a 1 min drive or approximately 10 min walk. We left our paddleboard, boogie boards & noodles for the time we stayed, on the shoreline so our “new” friends, staying right on the river, could make use of them, with their grandkids. We were very mindful to not be annoying but they were so lovely to chat with.
If you need anything from the shops, Nathalia is only 18 min away & Echuca 40min. we took a drive one day just to get a delicious gelato in Echuca ( Augustus Gelatery). So so worth it!
Can’t wait to return and we definitely will have Camp 1 or 2 (camp 1 probably better for solar, as camp 2 you are very shaded). Fantastic place to take your friends or family, to enjoy everything this special location offers. Thanks for sharing Tim. Highly recommend!!

Goulburn Downs was such a great place to be. Tim was so easy to communicate with & so very kind. We had a great time over cup weekend with our extended family. The grandchildren had a ball. We will certainly be back. Such a beautiful part of Victoria & a beautiful property on the Goulburn river.

Goulburn downs was a great find. We had 5 night s camping at the river crossing. Caught plenty of fish and had nice warm fires every night. The weather was mixed but didn't ruin our experience one bit.
It was an easy to find property and Tim is a great host. Will be back for sure

My kids and I enjoyed a short one night stay on Tim’s property. Tim guided us to the site over the phone, and his directions were clear and easy to follow. Although there were other groups camping on the property, the sites are a long way from each other, and it felt very private. Our site was on a delightful pocket of the Goulburn River. The access tracks to our site were sound but rutted in places, so 4x4 was definitely an advantage, especially in wet conditions like we had. In all we had a lovely time on Tim’s property, and we look forward to coming back for a longer stay sometime in the near future.

We’ve stayed twice and loved it! Tim is an excellent host, the farm is beautiful and each of the spots we’ve stayed has been private and peaceful. We took both our dogs and kids and they were all fine off the leash the entire time.

My camp-site was just as I expected going from other reviews. Was peaceful, heaps of wildlife and just what I wanted for a week away. Tim was extremely helpful and super friendly. There is a fire pit, wood and Tim takes the rubbish away which is such a bonus! Highly recommended 😊

Awesome campsite! You wouldn’t know there was anyone else on the property, was completely private. Easy distance to the river for fishing and swimming. Great for the kids to ride bikes, and the dog to run free. Plenty of firewood- even some chopped and ready to go - thanks Tim!

Had such a great time here, even with some rain. We came with our camper trailer and our dog, and it ended up being the perfect little escape.
Still managed to do some camp cooking, fishing, and spent plenty of time just hanging out by the fire. The spot is beautiful—right on the river and super peaceful.
We’ll definitely be back!

Had a amazing night at camp site 6.
Its so close to river so we just sat our chairs on the bank and watched the wildlife.
There is a fire pit with firewood everywhere.
We forgot our camping box ! Tim was wonderful and brought his cooking gear down for us to borrow even though it was so late when we realised our forgetfulness.
In the morning we caught 4 fish from the river.
Tim allowed us to stay all day and make the most of the beautiful river.

We had a great stay on Tim's property, he was very welcoming and Friendly. He met us at the gate and took us down to our camping spot and even had firewood ready to use. The site was very private and the fishing was great, I would definitely recommend staying on his property.

Was a bit disappointed when we arrived and seen that our campsite wasn't over looking the river like we had hoped. The campsite 3 is listed as ‘on the River’ and looks to be from the photos but you have to going up a hill and down a steep one to the river.
Is also super slippery as my mate stacked it going down. Apart from that there’s a lot of space and we had wood provided for the first night and Tim was super helpful with giving directions to the campsite and coming to collect rubbish.

Perfect location, camp 1 was perfect for our camper trailer (5.7m), great fishing, even tho something big took my rod as well as the bait.
Tim was great to deal with, gave easy directions.
We found Goulburn downs perfect, secluded, peaceful and so much more.
Highly recommend this property.
Thanks Tim we’ll definitely see you again.

The area is so peaceful and private. Tim has built a great set up with so many extras like the solar power and all the cooking extras for heating over the open fire. We hired the tinny and took a couple of cruises up and down the river . We caught Murray cod fishing from the beautiful sandy bank below our camp site. There were so many potential spots to set up your tent, we picked a spot that overlooked the river so we woke up to a beautiful view.
Can’t recommend this place highly enough and we hope to be back again soon.

My friend and I stopped at Tim’s place for a night on our way to Barmah with our 2 horses. The Sandhills were the perfect place to pull up for the night and we even got a 2.5hr trail ride in the next morning before we had to hit the road. We rode to the river and all over Tims station, it was a beautiful place to explore! We will definitely be back in the future. Great place!!!
