Russell Falls Cottages at the entrance to Mt Field National Park offer self-contained, self-catering accommodation suitable for couples and families. Four spacious cottages – each set a comfortable distance apart on a beautiful piece of paradise . Also offering six Riverside fully insulated warm Camping Pods with comfortably made beds with electric blankets. Camping sites also available. The property is surrounded by the Tyenna River and has an abundant of wildlife such as padymelons, possums, platypus and other wildlife are frequently seen especially our resident echidna who wonders happily around the property. A footbridge across the river leads directly to Mount Field National Park, with the National Park Visitor’s Centre and Cafe, the Charles Marriott Shelter (BBQ facilities and children’s playground), and Russell Falls minutes walk away. The path passes through temperate tree fern rainforest, populated by glow worms. A minimum three nights stay is recommended as this area has so much to offer- Mt Fields walks and water falls- Junee caves- styx valley and land of the Giants- Strathgordon dam-creepy crawly walk-Lake Dobson- Rail track ride- Maydena adventure hub- Tassie bound adventures and you will need time to relax and enjoy Russell Falls cottages and the peaceful river, rain forest and birdlife.

At the entrance to Mt Field National park , Turn right down the driveway between the two big trees to your booked Riverside camp site. Park your van/Motorhome (Not suitable for tents) in our allocated camping area on the back gravel area of Russell Falls cottages and enjoy the peaceful surrounds of your camp site. Being a few meters from our large stretch of river enjoy the ever changing view of this body of water being on most days clear enough to clearly watch the platypus play and fish swim and other days view the river a bit higher, louder and not as calm. Walking distance to Russell Falls , so a night time adventure to see the glow worms is a must do. 100 meters from your camp site is a bathroom block which offers private large bathrooms with heaters as well as heat lamps. Also a laundry with washer and dryer. Gold coins required. Fire pits with wood avaliable for purchase. $70 for 2 persons $30 per extra adult. Kids under 12 $10

The Possum Camping Pod 3 is a unique camping experience. It is a 4 by 4 meter fully insulated wooden pod with a 1 meter under cover deck. Inside bed configuration is a Queen bed as well as a bunk bed. Beds are fitted with electric blankets, fresh linen with a winter rated doona. A towel issupplied. Provided with the nightly costing is a power supply pack that will power up your electric blanket, lights for 6 to 8 hours so best to be conservative with power used as battery not charged again till 10am. Heater and fan will use more power faster. Outside of your Camping Pod you will have your own picnic table where you can quietly watch the river for the resident platypus and trout's or enjoy seeing the Eagles flying above you or share your space with the many possums and padymelons. Fire pits can only be used between April to October. A short walk to your amenity block which consists of x4 very large private bathrooms with showers, sinks, bench chair and toilet. A unique accommodation experience. There are six 4-meter by 4-meter double insulated Camping pods. Each pod is supplied with 400amp power pack which will generate lights, electric blanket and phone for up to 8 hours. The heater provided will use up the power faster so guests need to be conservative with power consumption. Pods include x1 power supply unit, bath towels, a comfortable warm bed with top and bottom sheet, warm doona and spare blanket, picnic table, fire pit (May to September only as fire restrictions) (wood for purchase at $20 per bag (or small wheel barrow of kindling and wood), use of large bathroom and laundry facility. Power packs are recharged each day at 10am. Large private bathrooms and laundry located 100 meters from Pods Guests will walk from the front of their pod across the grass to the bathroom block. Pods charged for 2 people Winter Rates May to September $150 per night (extra person $30) Standard rates October to April $190 per night (extra person $30)

Although pods are off grid they are fitted out with a 400amp battery that if used conservatory will operate lights and electric blanket for 6 to 8 hours so must be used wisely as packs are recharged each morning at 10am. Outside of your camping Pod you will have your own picnic table to enjoy seeing the Eagles flying above you or share your space with the many possums and padymelons. A short walk up the paddock is your amenity block which consists of x4 very large private bathrooms with showers, sinks, bench chair and toilet. Toilet paper is provided . Absolutely stunning location!! Quick and easy transaction with managers and Vicki and her partner never said No to any reasonable requests - even brought a fire pit down to our pod and some extra cooking gear because we were traveling on motorcycles!! The facilities were spotless and cosy to use - great temperature in the bathroom and the pod! So lovely right next to the river and the walks from the property are a must do!! Thoroughly enjoyed it and will be back!! Hoping by then there are eco hot tubs or similar by then.. I’d extend my stay for sure !! Thank you for a memorable time 🪶✨

We loved this site! We actually stayed in one of the Eco Pods and it was so comfy and cute. The proximity to the park is exceptional and the beauty unsurpassed. Bathrooms were fine and loved seeing the local platypus a couple of different times.

Lovely spot by the creek/river, surrounded by trees and fantastic proximity to the Russell falls visitor centre and walk. The bathrooms were good although we didn’t try the showers. Be aware that the site is next to a salmon farm so there is an industrial sound all night. The other side might be ok. We were in an RV and ended up opting out of the powered site as we would have had to park extremely close to another RV to the point we would have been looking straight in eachother’s windows, and the toilets were close against the other side. The fire pits are great and we had some great camp neighbours too!

We had an incredible stay. The highlight for us was watching the kids paddle down the river in the kayak, laughing and splashing as they explored. Seeing their joy was priceless! We were also lucky enough to spot a platypus early in the morning, which was such a magical experience. The resident bunnies hopping around added an extra touch of charm, and the kids loved watching them. The amenities were spotless—easily some of the cleanest we’ve come across while camping. It made our stay even more enjoyable, knowing everything was well-maintained. This place is a perfect position to get to Mt. Field national park or just relax, and we can’t wait to come back again!

Our favourite campsite so far! Brand new facilities made it feel more like glamping, a hot shower really makes everything better. Staff were lovely. Beautiful forested spot with platypuses swimming in the river! A very short walk to the Mt Field visitors centre with everything you need for nearby hikes, and Waterfalls cafe open daily to feed and caffeinate you as needed.

The Russell Falls Holiday Cottages. campgrounds are fantastic. Great level grass sites close to river. Very Relaxing. New amenities block etc. It is well located bordering Beth entrance to Mt Field National park and only 10km from Maydena Mountain Bike park. We enjoyed the campgrounds and will be back!

Wow, this is the most beautiful campground to stay at immaculately kept grounds and facilities. We were about 20 metres from the banks of the lovely Tyenna River, we were even lucky enough to see the resident platypus three times during our two night stay. We stayed in our tent so we were very happy with the beautiful new bathroom/laundry facilities which included 4 bathrooms each with a shower, vanity with power points, bench seat and a toilet. Ideal for those campers with children to bath etc. The laundry has a washer and dryer and two laundry tubs and a kettle. It is a short five minute walk into the Mount Field National Park Visitor Information Facility which also has a lovely cafe serving great coffee and light refreshments. Russell Falls is a short walk on from the cafe, beautiful.

Absolutely beautiful site!!! Unlike the description there were showers, laundry, bathrooms, handwashing sinks and even a kettle and tea with milk in the fridge! Absolutely outstanding customer service with supply of blankets when asked and beautiful family. Would highly recommend.

We had a great stay here! Walking distance to the national park, we went to see the waterfalls during the day and then glowworms at nighttime, so convenient not needing to drive back and forth. Toilet/showers are very big and look brand new. Also laundry was a great surprise.

We enjoyed our time at Russell Falls. The grounds are immaculate and the ensuites are as good as any I’ve come across. Even spotted the local platypus. For an unpowered site in our camper trailer I’d prefer a little more space, but that’s no big deal. The pods look amazing! We’ll be back.

Amazing location, right in the national park. Only a few other campers while we were there. Access to shared toilets/shower was great too. Very happy we found this place, would recommend.

Great spot! Easy walking access to Mount Field National Park. Great amenities and nice picnic tables to enjoy the views.

Amazing place ! Great view, everything is clean ! The concept of bathroom is really convenient. Feel a bit at home. Perfect for a camper van! The best place I stayed in Tassie.

Great facilities and an even better location! We really enjoyed our stay and it was such a bonus to stay so close to the National Park! Highly recommend

Conveniently located at the entrance to the National Park. New bathroom and shower block, very well maintained. Located next to a commercial salmon hatchery which can be noisy, but didn’t bother us much.
