Very private valley nestled between two mountainous sandstone ranges. 3.5 kilometers from Colebrook, via Yarlington road. The property in total size is 37 hectares half of which is gently undulating grassland slopes. These slopes lead to the banks of the beautiful Iles Creek which runs nearly all year round. The western range across the creek includes numerous caves within comfortable walking distance. The highest cave provides magnificent views to the East coast. Camping options include non-designated sites either side of the creek under the huge black-wood trees, restricted to 4-wheel drive vehicles during winter and spring months, with a secluded site with year-round access for all vehicles. At the entrance sits the first of the designated sites, the rest are accessed via the meandering road down 300 or so meters to the camping ground entrance for the other two sites. The last 500-700 meters of Yarlington road leading to the entrance is quite steep. Some two wheel drive vehicles towing large vans have found this challenging, while others haven't. The two main camping areas now have a 'bush loo' in each site. if you wish to use these please use your own paper. Also, now for camper convenience the whole area has access to the campers' lounge and resource shelter. It contains First Aid and snake bite first aid kits. Water is available here. This reconstructed building was once The Campania Scouts and guides, hall.

This site includes secluded camp sites either side of the creek and alongside or under large blackwood trees. This site is immediately before the walking track to the caves. A bush loo is situated across the creek amidst the large trees immediately opposite. Access to town water is available for those filling containers.

Site 2 is a secluded site with all year round 2-wheel drive access. a very sheltered and gently undulating suitable for caravans and large mobile camper vans. A bush loo is available for campers to use, which is tucked behind the camper and resource lounge. This building is in the center of this site.

The property is well suited for medium ( 50-100) and small (10-50) group events. In early 2024 an organization negotiated the accommodation of 200 plus for a 4-day, arts gathering. During this gathering an effigy was constructed artistically, and subsequently ceremonially burnt (see photos). The hosts are open to negotiating special purpose activities.

This site is situated immediately visible on entering the property, with views of the Iles Creek valley. It has all weather access with the benefit of morning and midday sunshine. It includes domestic power and town water supply. This site does not have 3 phase power nor 15 amp power points for vehicles totally reliant on electricity.

Highly recommend - lovely place to stay! We were made feel welcomed on arrival and our host checked in regularly if we required anything. They went beyond to make sure our stay went well. The kids were even treated to feeding the local alpacas.

Very beautiful and tranquil place, my granddaughter and I were very lucky to have the site to ourselves, there were various beautiful cleared sites to stay in. We enjoyed the walk to the cave, sitting by the campfire , and a wonderfull drop dunny. Plenty of wallabys to be seen on the property, and we also spotted an echidna. Firections yo the property were easy to follow

I would recommend to anyone. Very pet friendly and kid friendly. Amazing host, always made sure we had what we needed. Will definitely be back with a few friends next time.

I loved it and so did the dogs. Had a fire, made up a bench, the cave is worth going to and Gordon is a great host

Beautiful serene spot with animals and nature. So quiet and relaxing over Easter. Weather was brilliant and a walk up to the cave made us really get our nature on! Gordon and Therese were lovely hosts making us feel very welcome. Would definitely return in the future!

Gordon was very welcoming and hospitable. His land was great, got to pick our spot from a huge area. Was very protected from the wind down in the valley. Was good to have a bush toilet and fire pits.

We enjoyed our stay - kids enjoyed being able to run around with all the space we had. We Definitely would recommend staying at Gordon’s land to anyone .

One of the best hidden treasures. Beautiful spot with plenty of room, bush tracks to explore, friendly alpacas and hosts that care. Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend holiday 😊

The perfect stay!

Forget about the cramped private campgrounds or overbooked national parks—come here instead! We had so much space, lovely shady flat spots for our tents, all surrounded by wildlife and trees. The sky at night was incredible, away from the bright lights! From the get-go, we felt welcomed by Gordon and Therese, who went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. Idle Valley was perfect for our group of 16, including kids and teenagers. We had plenty of space to run around, play hide and seek, kick a ball, and observe nature. We enjoyed a campfire at night and appreciated the access to drinking water and bush toilets. Some of us walked to the nearby caves, following the well-marked trail. We all returned home relaxed and refreshed, and couldn’t believe this little treasure was so close to Hobart. Highly recommend it. The kids are already asking when we can return!

We only had a short stay at idle Valley but it’s a great place to camp Plenty of room heaps of room for kids and very quiet kangaroos come out at Dusk and the best thing is you will meet a rare thing these days a Gentlemen Gordon

Great wilderness location with plenty of private sites on the property. Gordon and Therese was wonderful hosts, ensuring we had everything we needed. The site also has the cleanest long drop I’ve experienced!

Very steep approach and entrance. We couldn't take the risk of entry and not being about to get out again towing 2wd. I feel this should have been included in the description. We forfeited out stay rather than take a chance on not being able to get out again.

This place is perfect for anyone who wants to switch off in their own nook of Zen, surrounded by beautiful nature. Gordon is a great host who is available to help when needed and this has been my favourite spot in all my years of camping. Thanks so much, Gordon. :)

It was a rough trip hobart for me. But this little piece of heaven and the lovely hosts saved the trip. Host was lovely and helped alot. It wad my first camp trip alone with my dog. I would love to come again

I camped in a swag tent and was offered multiple sites to choose from.. all different and private.. 2WD and 4WD areas offered.. the property is clean and well maintained with potable water and some wood for fire offered.. the hosts Trevor and Therese could not have been more accommodating. The bird and animal life is abundant and watching the roos come down to the little creek that ran past my camp was glorious and a privilege.
