Welcome to your dream destination!! We have two different locations available in Kangaroo Island with some options of sites in each. FIRST LOCATION: EMU BAY HIDEAWAY-30 hectares of peace, mainly vegetated with Kangaroo Island Narrow-leaved Mallee (Eucalyptus cneorifolia, a nationally-protected ecological community). Kangaroos and wallabies are in abundance. It has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion yet is so close to iconic Emu Bay. Those with 4WD may choose sites overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote. Alternatively, you may set up camp anywhere on the property. There is even one under-cover position with a concrete floor for those concerned about the weather. There are no amenities so guests need to be 100% self-sufficient (including BYO drinking water and toilet) and leave no trace. It is a wild block and only five minutes from the iconic Emu Bay, where the white sandy beach runs for 4kms, most of which is backed by 10 to 20-meter-high dunes. It is one of the best beaches on the island with crystal-clear water. SECOND LOCATION: Farm Stay about 15 km from Emu Bay and 20km from the main town of Kingscote. This is an operating small sheep farm of over 100ha. For security reasons the exact location is not advertised, but will be disclosed upon arrival on Kangaroo Island. There are several beautiful sites. This location is fairly central to most KI visitor attractions. It is a secure place to set up camp and have peace of mind that your belongings will be safe while you are away from the site. The host takes care to situate sites to give campers the feeling of exclusiveness. NOTES; Check with me before lighting a campfire - this depends on the season and risk. Dogs are permitted if well controlled (register visiting dogs with local council). IMPORTANT: As I have very limited access to the Internet, It is preferred that if you have questions, you can text or call me, Rosalie, on 0490485123. Please note - all bookings MUST still go through the Hipcamp system, no exceptions. Kangaroo Island is serviced by regular ferry - check SeaLink for details. As the service requires advance bookings, please secure your passage to the island before booking your site. Thank you.

(Emu Bay Hideaway Location) These are diverse sites where campers may pick a spot that they like. Those with 4wd or at least good ground clearance may choose a site facing southeast and overlooking Shoal Bay towards Kingscote, it has a wonderful feeling of remoteness and seclusion. These positions offer a bumpy drive through a rough bush track. Book this site via Super 4WD Bush Track. Alternatively,, for those with standard vehicles other sites are easily accessed closer to the road.. You can select a spot yourself to set up camp anywhere on the property. It is possible to get in among the iconic Narrow Leaf Eucalypt for shade and shelter. There is plenty of areas to enjoy privacy. Camp Near the Creek

100%
(5)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 10 · Vehicles under 25 m
(FARM STAY LOCATION - 15 minutes from Emu Bay) This property is more exclusive and offers greater security for campers. It is a beautiful’, near level and spacious grassy site nestled in a quiet valley. In early 2020 the place was ravaged by fire, so now we have the burnt remains of trees juxtaposed with verdant regrowth. Access is by 4WD or vehicle with good ground clearance. Access may be restricted if conditions become too wet. See nocturnal wildlife, and kangaroos by day. Experience the peace and quiet of the valley along with its rural ambiance. Stop to gaze and wonder at new born lambs with their mothers. Comfort fires may be had by arrangement only when conditions are fire safe. Please note that because of the terrain access to this site is a bit of a scramble down a rocky access track. However I used to whip up and down there in an old Toyota Urvan. Fresh water is available by arrangement with the host.

Down in the Valley

RV/tent site · Sleeps 5 · Vehicles under 10 m
(FARM STAY LOCATION - 15 minutes from Emu Bay) A quiet place for rest and recuperation after physical or emotional trauma, this exclusive and secluded site is situated at a different location, next to a winter creek and upon the flat. Sometimes sheep will graze nearby, but normally it is just inhabited by wildlife, and the only thing that may laugh to you could be the kookaburras! Access is down a rocky hillside so it is more suitable for 4wd, but Vehicles with good ground clearance may access this peaceful place. Five years ago the area was burnt out in bushfires, but now it is recovering, and so can you! Longer stay at a reduced rate is available by negotiation with the host.

Shady Gums

RV/tent site · Sleeps 7 · Vehicles under 10 m
(FARM STAY LOCATION - 15 mind from Emu Bay). Shady Gums is a fabulous site in a valley with winter creek. The flat grassy patch is sheltered and shady. Getting there is adventurous as one must descend a rocky hill, cross a creek bed and then wind along the edge of the scrubby picturesque creek for about 500 metres. In this quiet and peaceful spot campers may delight in the presence of wildlife including echidnas, kangaroos and birdlife. Because of the creek crossing, windy track and overhanging branches it is not suitable for large caravans or very high vehicles.
