Set on a hillside plateau adjacent a working fruit and nut orchard , the single campsite provides a small sheltered area with plenty of wildlife to let you know you are out of suburbia ( eg wedge tail eagles, rosellas , cockatoos , blue wrens and some resident kangaroos ... ( you may also see a koala . ( however drop bears are almost extinct here ) Secluded but connected ... Why travel more than you have to to escape and get back to basics? You can set up camp and be sipping a wine or hot beverage in the bush tranquility in less than an hour from most suburbs . The campsite is set on a hill with a view . It is not a parkland but offers a true taste of nature with native grass and vegetation . approx 15 mins from Magill and about 40 mins to the CBD / small caravans ok . Bushwalk on the property or Rock climb at nearby Morialta falls / hike Cleland / Mt Lofty or use the Grove as a base to expore the nearby Heysen trail , the many bakeries , eateries , wineries, breweries and distilleries nearby . Visit historic Marble Hill residence on open days, or enjoy many of the many events the Adelaide hills has on offer. ( Medieval fair / Adelaide rally / SALA / bay to Birdwood / Anzac / country fairs to name a few ) Enjoy pure Marble Hill spring Water ... Roast some chestnuts * over the campfire or gather some wild blackberries* , or mushrooms *. ( * in season ) . Pls Note :- Campers are provided a basic toilet / waste disposal pit area and your self contained outdoor showers are welcome . Perfect for a rooftop tent! Really lovely spot. A few trails to explore and can get a great view. Our two little pups had a great time too :-)

I love exploring and this camp site had so much exploring that could be done. Saw Kangaroos, Koalas, and Eagles. Heading a little higher up the hill behind the campsite had stunning views through the hills. I would definitely recommend this campsite to others.

Lovely forest and space, great walks and free wood. Leigh was lovely and even better with communication on late late checkout.

Amazing views of the hills and its greenery, starry night skies as had no light pollution, lovely host! The only recommendation would be a proper cover for the toilet.

The campsite is so beautiful during the seasonal change between autumn/winter. The view was so fantastic you won’t regret it. Don’t forget to take a morning walk along the trail up to the hill top and enjoy the sunrise

We loved our night camping at Chestnut Grove. The site had a flat area for our tent, was easy to drive up to, and spacious. Leigh was really friendly and generously brought us up some firewood on the night. The site was quiet and had great views, would absolutely stay again.

This was my second time staying at Chestnut Grove, and it just keeps getting better! The camping spot is one of the best I’ve experienced—peaceful, well-maintained, and surrounded by beautiful natural scenery. What makes the experience even better is the host—super nice and genuinely friendly, always making sure guests feel welcome and comfortable. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a relaxing outdoor getaway!

Beautiful view! Nice camp site for one night. Walking tracks to explore, running water and drop toilet available. Camp site was quite close to the sheds and house on the property though.

Leigh was a very friendly and helpful host. He gave good suggestions for local attractions and even provided some fruit from his garden. We really enjoyed our time there. It had a nice view and was very private and peaceful.

We loved our stay at Chestnut Grove! It was easy to find and we were able to get up to the site in our little hatch with no problems. The scenery was gorgeous, we enjoyed a short hike, and it was easy to communicate with Leigh leading up to our stay. Would definitely recommend!

Getaway close to the city!

Leigh and Christine's place was lovely. Nestled in a natural amphitheatre space at the top of a hill at the back of thier property was a perfect place for the 5 of us. Fire pit was comfortable and easy to use. Spot was secluded enough from the house which is perfect for solo campers or anyone concerned about safety. Would definitely recommend!

Loved our stay at Chestnut Grove! Leigh and Christine were easy to communicate with throughout, and we loved the camp site which has a great view and plenty of birdlife/wildlife sounds surrounding us. Highly recommend!

We set up our camper on Leigh’s land and had a fabulous time, the directions were clear and the views are beautiful. We didn’t have a lot of time to get away and Leigh’s place is not too far from the city so was great for a quick getaway!

Beautiful views and a gorgeous spot! We had a great time and enjoyed a nice fire and then watching the sun come up through the hills. Thank you again, definitely recommend this spot!

Peace and Quiet, close to the city!

This little plot of land was perfect for a few days of peace and quiet. My partner and I spent a few days on Leigh's property, and it was exatcly what we needed! The owners were very kind, and brought us some water as a complimentary gift. We enjoyed hiking around the grounds and essentially switched off to the city life we were so used to! We honestly didn't want to leave on the final day. Thank you for giving us such a peaceful location (during both rain and shine), we left feeling revived and relaxed (something I never expected to encounter after a camping trip). Thank you again!!
