My Easter at Waverly Homestead
I had a wonderful Easter camping at Waverly Historical Homestead. Set on 132 stunning acres, it offered the perfect peaceful escape from the holiday rush.
Owners Gav and Andria were the perfect hosts. Since purchasing the property four years ago, they have been dedicated to restoring the homestead to its former glory, and their vision for future events on the grounds is truly exciting. I loved the unique, personal touches—especially when Gav offered lead horse rides. The property is also teeming with life, including friendly chickens, guinea fowl, and beautiful peacocks and peahens.
The facilities provide an authentic, back-to-basics experience. There is a well-maintained toilet on-site with a old leadlight adding to the rustic charm
though there are no showers, so I came prepared for a "bush luxury" style stay. The simplicity of the setup only added to the heritage charm of the environment.
Personally, I found that the lack of modern amenities only added to the charm. It encouraged me to slow down, live simply, and truly soak in the heritage atmosphere under the stars.
Final Verdict
If you appreciate history, quiet nights, and hosts who genuinely care about their guests and the land, Waverly is a hidden gem. I left feeling completely refreshed and can’t wait to return to see how the restoration continues!
