Discover beautiful rainforests and open pastures at Scrubby Creek Trevethan Falls, a very special property just 30 minutes from Cooktown. We offer various grass and bush sites spread out over 160 acres, each peaceful and secluded, within walking distance of amazing natural waterfalls, the clear-running creek dotted with swimming holes, as well as established hiking trails. There is a variety of bird life and wildlife. Trevethan Falls is just a short walk away. Finish the day around your open campfire. You cut or collect your wood from around the property just contact your host. The property has had changes to 3 sites which happened on December the 17th 2023 at around 6am in the Morning we were awoken to the sounds of timber and dirt hitting the house and in a matter of 2 hrs sites 1 /2 and 3 were totally destroyed and the Trevethan Creek was directed through our property, This event was a Landslide from the top of the Moutain which went through the Trevethan Falls and the trees and dirt got caught up in a bottle neck down from the falls. We already had 3 .5 Meters of rain in 4 days! the bottle neck broke out at 6 am hitting us like a freight train and the rest is a good story to tell around a fireplace. We are working hard to clean up sites 1 /2 and 3 which I can see results. Site 1 is open and is very good with water running by the site/ Site 2 is open and we are currently doing work on the new site 2 / Site 3 is currently moved until we clean up the old site. We have a new Site which is Site7 on the creek and very private and Site 4 on the dam and Sites 5 and 6 are bush camps and are very Private. We are hoping to see the tree Kangaroos coming back as well which are good viewing from Midnight on wards to 3 am. Please come and stay we have more sites planed for the future. Please be sure to read the descriptions carefully Pets are welcome but must be kept on a lead at all times. There is also a hobby farm in operation on the property, so you may hear and see the workings of the farm as you explore. We are confident that once you discover this place, you'll return time and time again.

This site is a special, Its private site, for smaller caravans/camper trailers. No large rigs here, please. You'll set up near the creek, with running water all your campsite. This site is the close one from our entrance gate just turn to the right after accross the creek on our driveway , it is good for smaller caravans/camper trailers. No large rigs here, please. This site is tucked away slightly from the water, but just a stonesthrow if that, you'll still be able to hear the gentle flow of the water This site is for smaller off-road caravans and campers, and tents only. The beauty of our self-contained bush campsites is that they maximise your solitude! Ideal for those looking for off-grid, total peace and seclusion. Site 4 is by a large dam which is great for swimming. It's around 150 metres walk from the creek. This site is 4WD only, no caravans, just off-road camper trails and the like. All campers here must be self-contained, with their own amenities. You will have your own private area, and be truly bush camping. The paddock with cattles is perfect for exploring. You can finish the day off around your open fire . There plenty of wood you can cut but contac the Host first and feel free collect from around Site , there is a variety of bird life, and other wildlife around, plenty of bush tracks and you can wander the 800 metre walk to Trevethan Falls.

Site 6 is our furthest site from the creek, around 800 metres away and 1800 metres walk to Trevethan Falls. It's a beautiful walk however! A large site ideal for all types of caravans, camper trailers etc. All campers here must be self-contained, with their own amenities. You will have your own private area, and be truly bush camping. You can finish the day off around your open fire. There is a variety of bird life, and other wildlife around, some cattles as well, there is plenty of bush tracks and you can wander around.

We were given camp 1 instead of 2. The devastation from the floods were obvious,great spot even so on a 450m hike to the stunning Trevarthan Falls. Great swimming spots along the way to the Falls. Thanks for having us highly recommend.

Quiet, secluded, private if that's what suits you. Nowhere near any other campsite. Rick is a great host, would come here again anytime.

Site 2 - Scrubby Creekside
We loved staying at Scrubby Creek. Ricky & Tika were great hosts and were very welcoming and helpful. We booked for site 2 however when we arrived, we found it overgrown with sensitive weed which was not ideal with 2 toddlers. We expressed our concerns with Ricky and Tika and they were happy to move us to a more suitable site. The land itself was beautiful and calming, with a few great little walking tracks and beautiful creeks running through the property. We would definitely stay again however we would be staying near the creek, where we stayed the second night. Definitely recommend to others, just remember closed in shoes ☺️

We loved our camping trip to Ricky and Tika's. Our campsite was neat and tidy with some firewood waiting for us upon arrival. Directions were clear and easy to follow. Our site was on the banks of a lovely clear flowing stream, with an abundance of wildlife in the area. Very pleasant.

Site 1 is an awesome relatively level site by the river. Very secluded and peaceful with the sound of the river to fall asleep to. Rick and Tika are excellent hosts and very friendly. Definitely recommend.

Very Beautiful spot, Ricky and Tika are very helpful and responsive to all questions. Unfortunately we had to call our trip short as we had a down pour that came in from all angles, definitely will look at getting back at sometime soon.

Awesome stay at site 2, the creek beside is not deep enough for swimming but a short walk up beside site 1 to the falls (some rock hopping needed) there is some nice deep holes for a dip. Camping next to the creek was very relaxing listening to the water, plenty of firewood around due to recent floods. Lots of sensitive weed around so shoes are a must, enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.

Lovely spot- nice and private and great access to the shallow creek for a splash. Site itself had heaps of sensitive weed which was a bit annoying for the kids but there’s plenty of space, we must have just picked a bad spot to set up.

Site 7: Private campsite right along side the creek which was not deep however perfect for cooling off in. Was so peaceful. The odd cow walked by which was fun to watch. Be prepared to wake up with the birds! Will definitely be coming back to this spot!

This is a review for Site 1 Enjoyed 3 peaceful nights in a ground tent right near the creek on this large site which has plenty of sun or shade. Still plenty of scars from the flooding of Cyclone Jasper which will take a long time to recover but it is still a lovely place to camp. Good communication and easy to follow directions would recommend.

It was a great little spot in a beautiful part of the country. Loved the isolation and disconnection from modern hustle and bustle. Shame to see the devastation from the floods but enjoyed our time nonetheless. Definitely recommend!

**review for site #7 as we had a site change. Great communication from the owners, friendly and helpful, thanks you very much for having us to stay on your lovely property . The site is large and private, has large shade trees, but is also open and sunny, perfect balance. We very much enjoyed our stay here and will recommend this spot to others.

Was not maintained. Rubbish and long grass. If the camp spot is 50m from the house like this one then it should be stated there's no privacy. We didn't actually stay there just drove in and drove out

It is an absolutely amazing spot to camp. We watched the creek flow just in front of our site and could hear the waterfall in the distance. Ricki and Tika mentioned that the site looked very different to what it was before Jasper and we could clearly see the devastation the rain left behind. We had a good chat with Toby about the weather this region experienced just after Jasper. He explained how different the place looked prior. We can still highly recommend staying here. We loved it and hope to be back soon.
