I was told that as I journeyed around Australia I would find a place to settle and Maryvale on the Darling Downs was love at first sight. I am happy to share my love for this property and welcome travellers to enjoy the tranquillity of the riverside and enjoy some of the walks and other features of the area. Welcome to She-oak Hideaway, located in Maryvale by the riverside. The riverside is a peaceful place with two large camping areas and firepits. There are 2 large waterholes suitable for swimming, fishing and kayaking. Down by the riverside you will see Water dragons, ducks, swamp hens, many birds, occasional Wallabies and Koala. Most afternoons the local Rikali (Australias Otter) can be seen diving for Yabbies. We are an 11 minute drive to the very popular Main range national Park which has some beautiful hiking trails and is the perfect place for a picnic. We have a great country pub close by as well which is a short walk down a country lane. Pets are welcome but please ensure they are under your control and that you clean up after them. Campers must be self sufficient with their own toilet. Rubbish bins are provided for campers and a treated rain water tap is available. Kayaks and life jackets are available on request. 1 10 Amp power connection is also available on request. Please contact me for early arrival time.Welcome to She-Oak Hideaway, located in Maryvale by the riverside. The riverside is a peaceful place with two large camping areas, campfires and hot plates. The sites are flat with plenty of space to maneuver vehicles. There are 2 large waterholes suitable for swimming, fishing and kayaking.  Down by the riverside you will see Water dragons, turtles, ducks, swamp hens, many birds, Rakali, plus occasional Wallabies and Koala.  Rakali, a native water-rat - (Australia's otter) can often be seen collecting Yabbies and mussels then returning to the river bank to enjoy the feast. There are plenty of Yabbies in the creek and try your luck at fishing for silver perch and catfish. PLEASE DO NOT USE CLOSED TRAPS AS THESE HAVE DROWNED WATER DRAGONS, RAKALI AND TURTLE! Please enquire about open top traps I have available. The more adventurous can cross the creek and take the lane into Maryvale for a 20min walk each way.  Pets are welcome but please ensure they are under your control and that you clean up after them. Campers must be self-sufficient with their own toilet.  An annex and Thunder box is available on request. A rubbish bin is provided for campers and a treated rain water tap is available. 4 kayaks and life jackets are available on request.  Arrival and departure times can be flexible, Please contact me for more information. Please be aware that the peace is often disturbed by the laughter of the kookaburra, the song of butcher birds, the chatter of noisy minors and sounds from the road which is barely noticable down by the creek. Your Hosts, Paul and Cheryl wish to make your stay enjoyable and will be here to assist wherever we can.

We really enjoyed She Oak at Paul’s place. Just off the highway and yet down by a peaceful stream. Great level site - easy for us to get out on road van into. Once on site - very private camp spot. Great spot to strike out to Warwick - 25 min or the Main Range Walking Tracks. We would go back.

Nice spot, its about 200m off the highway and down an embankment near the creek, so whilst there is some road noise, its not bothersome. Its only 2 spots about 40-50m apart, so enough space. If you've got a 18+foot caravan and it’s wet when you're leaving, then you'd probably want to be in 4wd mode when you're coming back out, up the embankment with your van, but otherwise 2wd car access is fine. We loved it and would stay again.

We absolutely loved our time on Paul’s Land, even with someone on the other site - we felt secluded enough in our own little area right in front of the creek with amazing access for the kids. The kids had an absolute ball in and out of the kayaks, exploring along the edge and doing their own little walks all within viewing distance which made it relaxing for mum and dad. Paul was easily contactable, friendly and happy to help out without any problems at all. We definitely would love to return. Thanks again.
