Recently spent long weekend camping with family and friends. The spotted is incredibly good.the Owner (Fred) incredibly friendly and very accommodating making our stay very welcome.overall we have very fantastic 2 nights

The Runway
Great campsite. Beautiful spot. Running water, additional shaded camp kitchen and well maintained drop toilets. Lee and Fred extremely welcoming and accommodating.

Site 1 - The Figtree
Beautiful spot. Loved it. And the hosts are so lovely. We bought fresh eggs and tomatoes and chilli’s from them on our way out!

Wow! So quiet! Not far from the highway. We camped on the runway. Great stopover for us. Plenty of room. We were the only ones there. Saw the wallabies and a large australian gecho in the loo. Camp area was well maintained. Great spot will stay again.

Lee & Fred were very pro-active in keeping in touch with us , which was great ! Even the number of Cattle grids to go over !
We were unsure when we were arriving , as we had long stints in between stops. We arrived at Fred & Lee’s place at 4.30pm . Fred was there to greet us with beautiful fresh passionfruit.
He did explain he had only had a chance to mow the area not long before we arrived, . As I know how much rain the area has had. Fred apologised for it being a little untidy, but hey the amount of rain they have had has been tremendous!
We had a roof top tent , and being the only ones on the Runway, we were able to take over the whole camp kitchen area , and even just put our roof top tent under cover.
We never had enough time to do any of the walks , but they sound amazing . If you have a mountain bike , bring it as there are tracks for you to do.
Amenities are only toilets, grass was a little over grown , but as I said Fred is still catching up after all the rain .
Definitely give Mugal Mountain Rainforest Retreat a place to stay. Only 2km off the road. Easy road in , even with an SUV . Road has been graded , bit soft , but will be fine if weather is dry .
I have travelled to many places , and this place was lovely . Leave all your airs & graces behind & get back with nature . Thank you Lee & Fred , you definitely have a gem of a place . Great hosts 🥰👏👏

The Runway was absolutely beautiful, easy to find and the hosts Lee and Fred are so friendly and helpful.
There’s a lot of space for groups and a great camp kitchen area.

The Runway
Just had a lovely two nights on Lee's property in our new Avan Cruiseliner. We had the place to ourselves along with kangaroos wallabies bandicoots and a myriad of birdlife. The hosts were very hospitable and provided lots of information about the area. Really enjoyed it and will definitely be back.

Very friendly hosts and location to camp. The bed and breakfast would be great as well in the sensational wooden house/mansion. No mobile reception which was actually great (but don’t forget to message family before you leave the highway).

What an idyllic setting! We were fortunate enough to have the whole place to ourselves, and it was glorious. Beautiful setting, lovely hosts and a fabulous place to sit back and relax.

We stayed at the Fred and Lee's for two nights and it was lovely.
They were very helpful with anything we needed.
Their property is stunning with lots of beautiful wildlife and their dogs are crazy cool ;)
So so quite at the foot of mt colloseum.

Loved our 3 night stay here, wish we could've stayed longer. Lee and her husband were very hospitable, we are still enjoying the passion fruit and kaffir limes they gave us from their orchard.
Peaceful and nice walks around the campground. Lots of wildlife.

Was definitely secluded off the busy highway. There’s stacks of room on ‘The Runway’ to choose where you best want to be. Open fire pit available and loads of wood supplied . Fred was very friendly and helpful to meet us on arrival and give a quick run down on the layout and future additions. Great stay . Thank you Fred and Lee. See you again down the track . Upcoming event in Rocky.

This is definitely a hidden gem. Pet friendly with some clearly marked walking tracks. Kangaroos came out after sunset. Well kept camping grounds and composting toilets outweighed our expectations.
Directions for arrival was perfect.
We will return for a longer stay but this was perfect for an overnight stop.
Thank you for such a beautiful place at Mugul Mountain Figtrees.

Loved our stay at Mugul Mountain but wish it could have been longer.
We stayed on the disused airstrip. So much space & relaxing.
Lee & Fred wonderful hosts. So friendly and accommodating.
Best drop toilets I have come across!
Airstrip would be great for groups.
Would certainly return.

Was a great spot for us to test out our camper. We had the runway to ourselves, was great for the kids & our dog to run free. Was easy to find and the facilities were clean & tidy. Hosts were friendly and very flexible. We originally booked for one night and ended up extending for a second night.

Lovely little spot, with plenty of room near the fig tree, and water to use for washing up. The drop dunny is an easy walk and is clean and without smell. Lots of nice bird life and roos, and a lovely view of the mountain.

Work in progress. Road in is a bit rough and had to engage 4WD in one section ( in the wet). Hosts are warm and friendly, well worth the slight detour.

After setting up late afternoon under the fig tree we settled in to enjoy the peace and tranquility. Fred and Lee were very welcoming and their dogs were absolutly gorgeous and so well behaved. Lovely to hear of the history and plans for the future and to see your unique house. It was a privilege
