The Cooke Family welcomes you to “Hopevale”. A beautiful 113 acre property bordered by Wrattens National Park at the edge of the world in the peaceful Widgee district of greater Gympie. Jason, a landscaper by trade, and Jacinta a teacher by profession, met many years ago at a national Christian youth conference. Four beautiful children later and many years down the track, they bought Hopevale as a blank cattle fattening property in 2018. After much hard work, they have made it what it is today, with plans to continually improve. We have different camp options available, one of which is set up for those guests also wanting to stay with horses or just have a larger group booking. Guests will have access to a toilet and shower throughout their stay which is within walking distance from each of the campsites. Campfires and pets are welcome. The property has only had 4 farming owners in its 110 odd years since it was first surveyed and selected in 1915. The Hillcoats, Bishops, Cotters, and now the Cooke’s. The families over the years have used the property for timber getting, dairy, beef and small cropping. The property is geologically rich with volcanic soils, sandstone escarpments full of caves and overhangs. The mighty Wrattens Falls sits to the back of the property in the National Park and is a sight to behold in full flow. It feeds the head waters of the western branch of Widgee Creek which meanders through the property. The subtropical dry rainforest clad mountains are dominated by the majestic Bunya and Hoop pines and are a testament to what once was covering the entire property before being cleared for farming. Remnant riparian creek lines are botanically rich and diverse holding Red and White Cedar, Teak, Silky oak and many other coveted timber trees harvested back in the day. There are many species of animals and birds that call Hopevale home. From water dragons, frogs and fish in the creeks, monitors, wallabies, deer, koalas, possums and phascogales in the eucalypts. Red-back wrens, pardalotes, rainbow bee-eaters, finches and quail call the open grasses home while whip birds give their iconic call in the forest. Above, birds of prey ride the thermals of the valley looking for their next meal. “We have been blessed beyond measure with a small slice of God’s wonderful creation that we would love to share with you.”

Quiet music only up until 8pm General noise to a minimum after 9pm. Please do not book if you and your group cannot follow our rules. Reviews will be reflected honestly. During school holidays, weekends and long weekends we require a minimum of two people for the length of booking with a Minimum of two nights. PS: Children 4 and under are free Our 'Little Fig Flat' Camp is able to accomodate 16 people and is within walking distance of our amenities. Rest assured, if you book this site, you and your group will be the only ones with access to the site. Little fig flat has its own beautiful section of the creek with swimming hole that's great for children to splash around in when in flow. (Seasonal, so please msg if the creek flow is important to you.) We also have "valley view swimming" in use for all year round swimming. So bring your floaties! Our property reflects the two seasons, it's green in the wet and brown in the dry! Little fig is a very large site able to accomodate multiple caravans/trailers and tents. Campfires are welcome in the fire drums provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the extras section when making your booking. Pets are welcome but they must be kept on leash out of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets cannot be taken past our boundary into National Park. (Waterfall and Cave walks are in the National Park) Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it.   We are located just over half an hour from Gympie. For anything additional, please msg us.

We also have "valley view swimming" in use for all year round swimming. So bring your floaties! Our property reflects the two seasons, it's green in the wet and brown in the dry! Slight caution for low clearance caravans on concrete creek causeway. (99% fine) Campfires are welcome in the fire drums provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the extras section when making your booking. Pets are welcome but they must be kept on a leash outside of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets are not allowed past our boundary into National Park. (Waterfall and Cave walks are in the National Park) Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it. We are located just over half an hour from Gympie. Big Fig Camp is able to accomodate 12 people and is within walking distance to our amenities and self guided walks. Rest assured, if you book this camp, you and your group will be the only ones with access to the camp.  Big fig has its own small swimming hole (best suited to small children) when the creek is in flow (seasonal). Please msg if the creek flow is important to you. Our property reflects the two seasons, its green in the wet and brown in the dry! We also have "valley view swimming" in use for all year round swimming. So bring your floaties! Campfires are welcome in the fire pits provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the 'extras' section when making your booking. Reviews will be reflected honestly. During school holidays, weekends and long weekends we require a minimum of two people for the length of booking. Minimum of two nights. PS: children 4 and under free. 'Mountain View' is able to accomodate 20 people comfortably and is within walking distance of our amenities. 'Mountain View' camp has creek access to a swim hole when in flow. . We also have "valley view swimming" in use for all year round swimming. So bring your floaties! (300m drive/walk from camp) Campfires are welcome in the fire drums provided and you can pre-purchase your fire wood via the extras section when making your booking. Pets are welcome to be off leash at camp if trusted not to wander. Pets must be kept on a leash while out of your camp at all times whilst on the property. Pets cannot be taken past our boundary into National Park. (waterfall and cave walks are in the National Park) Please ensure you clean up after your pets and leave the site as you found it. Lovely flat ground, several spacious campsites. Plenty of creeks and swimming holes with provided kayak. Town/general store only 15 min drive (with reception). Jason friendly and everything clean. A couple hiking trails and lots of livestock to watch nearby

We didn't make it to our camp site due to my car being not suitable. But we made it a couple of KM in and me and my daughters were stunned by the tranquillity of this beautiful property. I wish we made it the final 10km! If I'm ever equipped with a 4x4 I'll 110% be making this place my first destination. Thanks again for allowing us into your space!

The property is a beautiful spot with some gorgeous views and wildlife. The swimming hole was a favourite as it was so much fun! The waterfall walk was very refreshing, it will look amazing when it is in flow. The doggies had the best time with plenty of space to run around. My group of 6 stayed at Big Fig which was a lovely spot with plenty of room. The bathroom was also rather pleasant with plenty of hot water. We would definitely come and stay again!

5 Star camping ground!! Would definitely recommend to everyone, host came to welcome us as soon as we arrived. Plenty of activities to do there and room to create your own fun. Campsite spacing was really nice, not so close from other campers. Would definitely be back when given the chance!

Beautiful location. Jason has done a great job of setting the campgrounds up. Plenty of space between camp sites and the swimming spot was a real treat. Really glad we found this Hipcamp, and will definitely go back.

Little Fig Flat
Private camping sites along the forest filled seasonal creek, makes for the ideal weekend escape. The best time to visit would be after the summer rain to enjoy the creek, though, there are some great walks to enjoy, including Wrattens Falls or the cave. The owners have done a great job on the property providing visitors a great outdoor experience.

This was our second time staying at Little Fig Flat. We love it here plenty of space, peaceful and Jason is an awesome host always improving the campsite. We really like that campsites are not crowded in and you have plenty of space available.

We just loved it. Mountain View was wonderful. Jason dropped in to say hello the first day then left us alone. There were few prickles and the ground was flat, mostly grassy and we had plenty of room. We were able to throw the balls for the dogs and tire them out. The cattle and horses were fun to watch. We also saw kangaroos and lots of birds. The ticks were a bit offputting but we coped. The dogs had just been tick treated and they didn't seem to have any on them. It was tick season. We will be back in winter next time.

We love visiting Hopevale adventure camping. This is about our 5th time back and the new addition of the dam for swimming is amazing. Jason is always an amazing host. Facilities are always clean. It’s a beautiful spot to camp! We will be back.

We loved camping at windmill hollow! It was the perfect spot for our families. The kids had plenty of room too ride their bikes around without riding through the camp set up. Spacious, flat and a nice grassed area. It would have really set the scene had the creek been full of water, but it was still a pretty spot. We saw so much local wildlife from wallabies, bush turkey’s, kookaburra’s and we even saw some black cockatoos fly over. The shower & toilet were a 2 min walk away & were clean and well maintained. We would drive to the swimming hole as we took our SUP and pool noodles..but they do provide pool noodles and a kayak to use while there. The hubbys and 4 out of the 7 kids hiked up water fall circuit and enjoyed the challenge and view. Having no service really made you relax and be present with each other and your surroundings. We would live to come back after a bit of rain and take advantage of the creek flowing next to the campsite.

We loved our Stay at Hopevale Adventure Camp. The camp sites were lovely, amenities clean and there was lots of adventure to be had. We visited in the dry season and still enjoyed the walks and dam swimming. We intend on returning after some rain.

Hopevale was an amazing experience for me and my group, our site "Windmill Hollow" was very well maintained, clean and veryyy spacious. Jason was very nice to talk to about the property and history of the area. Swimming spot was very scenic overlooking the valley aswell as a good spot for the sunset. Would highly recommend Hopevale.

We had such a wonderful stay at Windmill Hollow! The campgrounds are stunning, thoughtfully laid out, and so peaceful—we hardly even noticed the other campers. Everything was in immaculate condition, and our host went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. We honestly couldn’t fault a single thing and will definitely be returning soon!

We loved the Mountain View campsite from the moment we arrived. The setting was amazing with the big open flat grounds, plenty of shady trees, stunning mountain views, cute cattle next door and close proximity to the shower/toilet. We found the spot very relaxing as it was set away from other campsites. There was plenty of room to set up our gear and spread out. The shade from the trees was very beneficial during the middle of the day. We were far enough away from the amenities so as not to be disturbed by other users, but close enough that it was a very short walk. The swimming hole was a beautiful relax and recreation area and has been beautifully designed. We managed to tackle the Hidden Cave mountain climb - this took some effort to make it to the top but the view was well worth it. Jason has done a great job marking out the trail to make it safe for use. It was nice to meet Jason and put a friendly face to the name. We look forward to staying again.

It was a great camping spot for a family/friend catch up. The Host was friendly and helpful. campsites are well kept clean, tidy and green. Facilities are what you'd expect for camping and the swimming hole was above expectation. I would highly recommend

Gorgeous hip camp, very well maintained. Did try to find the hidden cave but failed. Ran out of pink markers to follow 😣. Had a quick swim in the swimming hole and a little paddle around in the kayak. Lots of wallabies around. Very quiet and relaxing.

I loved camping at Big Fig camp site. The site has lovely shade in the heat during the day and is very private. Our family had an incredible time swimming in the dam, enjoying the beautiful scenery and exploring walks around the property! The property is beautifully cared for by the owners who are very kind and thoughtful for our stay. Would love to stay again in the future!
