We’ve been lucky enough to stay at some absolutely incredible Hipcamps recently, so maybe our expectations were a little high going into this one. Overall it was still a nice enough spot to pull up for the night, but if I’m being honest the price point, amenities and communication left us feeling a little disappointed compared to other recent stays.
One thing worth noting is the advertised pony/horse rides. They were a big part of why we booked, especially with a young child, but after a few follow-up messages we found out they aren’t actually run every weekend. When they are available, they’re $75 for 30 minutes — which on top of an $80 campsite fee starts adding up pretty quickly for families.
The creek nearby also wasn’t flowing during our stay and looked like it would take a fair bit of rain to get moving again, which was a little disappointing as the water access was another feature that drew us to the property.
The toilet situation was also a bit rough. It’s about a solid 10 minute return walk from camp, very basic, and unfortunately not the cleanest during our stay. In the end I honestly preferred risking the neighbours catching a glimpse of my bum during a bush wee instead.
The property itself is still peaceful and has potential, but compared to other Hipcamps we’ve stayed at recently that offered better amenities, clearer communication and more value for money, this one just didn’t quite hit the mark for us.
