A stunning base for Girraween NP
A real gem in the New England Tablelands and an excellent base for exploring Girraween National Park. We stayed here for four days, and as two ecologists, loved the peace and quiet, bird life, the sweeping views of the granite peaks, and the incredible Milky Way nights.
Andrew, the owner, was lovely to meet and has clearly put a lot of care into the place. The on-site hikers hut and bathroom add a welcome level of comfort, especially for a remote stay. The hut has an enclosed loft-style layout with a table, chairs, shelves, sink and bench space, and the bathroom includes a hot shower and drop toilet. There is also plenty of room to set up your own gear (we booked the entire site for ourselves but up to 14 pax is allowed).
We recorded 80+ bird species during our stay and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the remnant vegetation across the property. A beautiful spot and definitely worth visiting.
