The Cassowary Shack (Off grid no power) - A place less ordinary... is an 8 acre private retreat surrounded by lush tropical rainforest. The grounds comfortably accommodate up to 6 large caravans at one time for that ideal get together. There is a flushing toilet, cold outdoor shower near the shed and hot shower at top site (power required e.g. portable generator or inverter). Two large 4 legged starry night baths to take in rainforest vibes and a small creek to explore. This property is located 3 min drive to beautiful Hutchinson swimming hole and 2 min drive to the spectacular and secluded Cow Bay beach rated in the Top 10 beaches in Qld. The Discovery Centre is a short 5 min drive and Cape Tribulation is 15 min north making it an ideal location for a quick getaway from Cairns and a sensational fishing base camp where you can beach launch at Cow Bay or drive back south 15 minutes to launch at the Daintree River.Off grid no power. There are ample locations to choose from on this property. Taps are available for drinking water at the bottom shed and top shack location. Flushing toilet is located at top location. This is a shared toilet between sites. There is a bush shower behind shed that is cold only. To use the hot shower you need a power supply. You may use a generator or inverter if you have one (GPO input behind toilet block). Firewood can be found in the forest but I recommend bringing hardwood like what can be purchased from the service station.

Cassowary Shack - The Daintree
Our family had a great time camping here. Open grassed area surrounded by forest. Toilets and outdoor shower, fire pit and Dan let us use the verandah area too. Lots of room and minutes from the beach we had a great weekend here.

Great base right in the Rainforest
Cassowary Shack - The Daintree
Great spot right in the rainforest and perfect base to explore the Daintree from. Toilet was great but the shower lacked enough pressure to really be useful. Enjoyed our time at this beautiful laid back property.

Cassowary Shack - The Daintree
We arrived late with no issues during our stay at Dans property, and the space was a well thought out. There were little nooks to tuck away into with our camper and close to flushing, clean toilets (what a treat!) It rained while we were there, but this only added to the peaceful, tropical experience for what we thought was going to be a quick over night stop. Stunning! We'll never forget this one.

Cassowary Shack - The Daintree
The Cassowary shack was magical!! A rainforest oasis which we were lucky to have all to ourselves. We had somewhere to shelter when the rain came down. It was perfect. Dan was super helpful and responsive to messages.

Cassowary Shack - The Daintree
We had a great time camping at the Cassowary shack! It's in the middle of the rainforest, nothing but nature around. Very spacious and open surface. Woke up to colorful butterflies flying and birds singing all around us. We had the pleasure of meeting Dan and Kate as well, they're super lovely and helpful. Couldn't have wished for a better experience :)

Dan was a great host and made us feel very welcomed. Very knowledgeable and took us for a tour around his local area and the beach. Awesome place to camp with the rainforest all around you.

Really cozy place in the centre of the rainforest. Close to cow beach, a really wonderful place to be. We really enjoy the stay. Thankyouu for making this stay so pleasant.
