Adavale Farm

We loved the peaceful, laid-back vibe of Adavale Farm. The hosts were friendly and flexible - we could pick our own campsite, check out when it suited us, and were left to enjoy the quiet of the paddock. The animal experience was a highlight - bottle feeding calves, meeting all the spring babies (piglets, lambs, chicks, kids, calves), and collecting eggs. Camping among the cows was unique - one even came to our campsite for a cuddle! That said, things felt quite disorganised. Check-in was unclear - you just drive up to the house & hope someone greets you, which is awkward with the gate closed and no phone reception. Communication was inconsistent, and several add-ons we booked didn’t go to plan. I’d arranged horse riding for my son but was told on arrival the horses weren’t available. We were offered cow milking instead, but the equipment broke, and although we were told to come back the next day, no one turned up. We were later told a horse might be available after all, but never heard back. The firewood we paid for never arrived. The toilets were full of cobwebs and not true “pit” toilets (no pit dug out, jut grass underneath) - the accessible toilet also did not look that accessible. Plenty of cow manure around and messy, as others have said. Despite all this, for $10 a night it’s still good value if you’re self-sufficient and happy to be left alone. There’s real potential here, but don’t rely on addons - treat them as a bonus if they happen.

We have stayed on plenty of stations, but this one was not for us. Honestly it truly needs a big tidy up. Not welcoming at all with all the junk everywhere. (Possibly a sign near the first house to say stop here, we'll be with you shortly as we're out feeding the animals). We left sorry.

Camping in heaven

Everything about camping at Apple Tree (Adavale), made my heart sing. The serenity, the site nestled amongst the trees, having a firepit and being surrounded by paddocks and animals, particularly the horses!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The host family were amazing. They should the kids how to milk a cow and were even given the opportunity to try. They enjoyed seeing the pigs, goats and were even lucky anoth to see them breaking in a horse. The cows and horses were roaming around the campsite which allowed us to take some amazing photos. We even came back home with an unexpected new addition. A kelpie puppy named Taz. We look forward to going back out and staying again.

The animals were the absolute highlight of the trip, waking up to cattle and horses surrounding camp was just a treat! Incredibly pet friendly for our quiet, non problematic, WELL TRAINED border collie. Certainly would not take any dog who was not tried, tested and perfect with all other animals. Foggy mornings and beautiful golden sunsets out here really does recharge your soul. We throughly enjoyed the company and making new friends on this trip as well as meeting all of the friendly animals. Already planning our next trip back.

A true farm stay

My son and I stayed here for 3 nights just before Easter 2025 and loved it. With all the farm animals you could imagine and cMping in amongst the animals we got to experience a real farm stay. Les and Valda where wonderful hosts and were very helpful. Highly recommend

The Cattle Camp

I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The place is a mess, cats and dogs in cages, and lots of rubbish/junk. We communicated our ETA, and advised when we arrived. We left as no one came after 10-15 mins.

Camping up close with animals

Valda is wonderful. She took me and my lil man into the milking shed with the cows and showed us what she does every morning. We even got to sit on a cow. Valda's hospitality was warm and caring. Dispite our tent having a few leaks when the rain hit the place was fantastic. Had a wonderful experience I have not had before.

Enjoyed sleeping under the stars with the tent covers tied back. The beautiful breeze kept us cool during a hot weekend. Waking up to the sounds of nature and the livestock around us. Kids enjoyed all the animals, getting fresh eggs, seeing the cow & goat being milked then tasting the milk. Spent time with Val, Val's brother Les, Val's daughter Helena and Helena's son. Learnt abit of history behind how the farm used to run. It was a learning experience for our whole family. Thank you for having us

Farm camping with animals

We had an awesome few days on the farm. Val and Les were so great, showing us the dairy and having a moochino. The animals were great we loved the goats and farm dogs. Plenty of firewood and the bonus of a toilet was great. Lovely sunsets, we camped on the creek and were lucky with the weather. The area has some great little towns and wineries. Highly recommend Dusty Hill Vineyard. Nanango markets were a treat. Thanks again Val and Les for having us at your farm!

Beautiful Spot for Stargazing

Beautiful views and quiet location. Close to the motorway but it honestly didn't affect us. It made getting places easier, so we could explore the area. Had some sweet cows visit the paddock on one day and found a koala amongst a cluster of trees nearby too. Our kid enjoyed driving his rock crawler RC car around the dam and collecting firewood (an add on of $20 for the weekend). The stars at night were absolutely incredible!

Had a wonderful Easter at Avadale farm. We where greated by the owners and showen to a perfect spot above the dam. We had cattle, horses and a very friendly little goat called skeet whom our little ones loved. Thank you for your hospitality Valda and your family

The Box Camp

We were group of 8 people and absolutely loved the location. The property host was very helpful to arrange everything. Great place for children and my daughter loved the pony ride and meeting with beautiful little humans( Dogs). Definitely will visit then again soon thanks 😊

Very friendly and easygoing hosts - the area was well cleared and ready for us to camp. Valda's brother, Lesley, was more than happy to give us tips on where the best spot was to fish or swim in the creek (we didn't brave the swim, though), and directed us to the best spot to find some smaller pieces of firewood. There was no shortage of entertaining animal encounters, with the dogs coming to visit both morning and night, the very friendly and affectionate cat, Flynn, visiting the first evening (as much as he tried, he wasn't convincing enough for me to believe he was hungry), and most fun for us was watching the herd of goats trotting down the hill to check out our campsite in the late afternoon. Adavale was a great base camp for us, as it is only a short drive to Nanango, where we headed each day of the two we stayed, to try out a couple of the mountain bike tracks! Thanks so much, Valda and Lesley - we would certainly recommend staying above the mill, and hope to be back someday.

Views were beautiful and if you're a fan of farm animals this is the place to stay as they're all walking round freely drinking from the creek which I found really cool.

Absolutely beautiful property run by a lovely family! We had the best experience, kids loved the pony rides and all the animals around. We had lots of visitors to our campsite - horses, sheep, goats, dogs, cats and cattle. Will be coming back for sure!
