Due to new council regulations, we can no longer camp directly near the creek edges as we did before. Our campsites have now been relocated to higher ground, offering beautiful views of the creek. The creek entrances are accessible within 50 to 300 meters, depending on the path you choose. Unplug and unwind at our 22 acre camping paradise nestled amongst the rolling green hills of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland. Listen to the babbling water sounds of Scrubby Creek and the Mary River that meandering through the perimeter of the property for over 1 kilometer. Stroll through our mini rainforest, paddle in the creek or have a dip in one of the many rock pools. We will even let you build as many rock towers as you like! Throw an inner tube in the creek and float around while the kids laugh and play all day long. Let the kids dig holes or fossick for the perfect skimming rocks, ride bikes or play endless games on the beautiful landscaped grass. Plenty of trees to put up that hammock or soak in the creek with views overlooking the wilderness. Sit back and gaze at the starlit skies while the kids roast yet another marshmallow on the campfire. Snuggle up during winter and cool down around the rainforest in summer. Abundant wildlife, lots of kangaroos and wallabies, koalas and beautiful birds everywhere. Please be aware that weekends are family times and do get busy with extra people. During the week it is very quiet and you could have the whole place to yourself. Sites are allocated on weekends based on numbers, if you are in caravans or tents and if you are camping with children. We have 12 large grassy sites nestled amongst trees located at the higher part of our property. Each site is large and can allow group bookings. Loads of space for tents, camper trailers, caravans or motorhomes. The camping sites are close together however there is loads of areas to set up along the creek during the day. Pets permitted but must be restrained.

Due to new council regulations, we can no longer camp directly near the creek edge as we did before. Our campsites have now been relocated to higher ground at the entrance to the property, offering beautiful views of the creek. Some of these sites are closer together and not as private as others. We have 22 acres of natural bushland in the Conondale Valley, between Maleny and Kenilworth; in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. Less than an hour to Caloundra and Sunshine Coast beaches. We have endangered wildlife on the property including frogs in the creek. We are very passionate about protecting the habitat, so our property only suits eco-friendly campers who follow leave no trace principles. We will show you site options based on your group numbers, children, dogs and camp set up. We have 12 camp sites safely on higher ground. Please note, these sites are closer to each other and not as private as previously. Only a couple of these sites now back onto the creek. All sites are within a very short walk to the creek - 100 to 350 meters depending on direction you take. You are welcome to set up on the creek side during the day however camping is only permitted in the designated areas as approved by council. Parts of our property may experience sudden flooding as we are in a low area and boardered by two creeks. Upon entering our property, you and your booking companions agree to adhere to all emergency protocols and instructions from our team. If instructed to relocate to higher ground, immediate compliance is essential for the safety of your family and our staff. We have a designated evacuation zone: the Top Paddock Emergency Area, situated by the silver shed at the check-in spot. Frequently Asked Questions - Firewood (hardwood) $25 per bag - Mobile Service is not available on the property however Wifi can be purchased from us for $10 per person per stay - Plenty of spots, we only take limited bookings. All within 50-500m to creek entrances (depending on the direction you take) - Campfires permitted - make your own permitted. - Campers must be self-sufficient. We would prefer it if you have your own toilet and shower. This is not a dig a hole and bury facility. We have a back up toilet for you just in case.

Great customer service and friendly owners. The property is spacious and has a very natural feel even with landscaped sites. It is a very beautiful setting with lush vegetation and a babbling brook to dip your feet in. We had a very relaxing weekend and recommend this campground for these reasons.

We had a lovely weekend away. Lovely hosts that made the extra effort to make our stay a pleasant one. Disappointing that council has made restrictions that mean you can’t camp right by the river however you can still enjoy this beautiful property from the top campsites. Thanks for having us!

We had a great time!! The creek was absolutely beautiful and entertaining for the kids. The play area and soccer goal were a bonus we weren't expecting 😁 there were many other great surprises but I'll let you find them out for youself 😁 Our host was super helpful and friendly. We are sure to return!

A Place To Call Home was gorgeous! Thea and Gary went above and beyond to make us comfortable and happy - including helping us set up our tent before nightfall! The land was stunning, the creek so pretty, and the sites generous and perfect for evening chats around the fire. We will definitely be back.

I've had some great stays but this camp ground really does have it all, from incredible views to parkland, with valleys creeks there's something for everyone. The hosts are incredible people, so welcoming and thoughtful. My Wife and I highly recommend a place to call home.

Awesome place to stay! Thea met us on arrival and showed us the property with such lovely enthusiasm and warmth. The camping area was stunning and so special. Amenities were simple and clean. On Saturday evening Greg cooked damper for all campers to have which was a super unique experience, and not to mention delicious! Would definitely stay again.

Amazing stay and we are already looking at our next stay, amazing property and super friendly hosts. Plenty of wildlife and space for big families or people with dogs. The community fire in the afternoon (optional) was a nice touch to meet other families.

Overpriced and Misleading

Overall, the ad for this camping site is incredibly misleading, i can see how much better it could have been before these council regulations came into place but it is not worth paying $120 a night to be placed in a busy grass parking lot in basically someone’s backyard. You have the owners house looking straight down onto the campsites. This was in no way quiet, peaceful or private. Furthermore, the listing for the sight completely lies about the fishing in the area, we were excited to fish in the Mary river only to be told it was be a $15,000 fine if we did so. We were told we could drive to a lake over 20 minutes away. We were parked not even 5 meters away from the next group of campers. We ended up not even staying the night, due to the lack of quiet and privacy as was advertised for the site. In summary, this place is incredibly over priced for the experience you receive. If you want to pay over $100 to sleep in a crowded grass parking lot, this is the perfect place to do so.

We had such a wonderful, relaxing stay. It’s the perfect place to switch off, disconnect and enjoy nature. The creek was definitely chilly, but our dog absolutely loved it! It was lovely warming up by the fire afterwards, and having the firewood delivered right next to the fire pit was such a thoughtful and convenient touch. Having the toilet nearby was also really handy and made the stay that little bit more comfortable. We loved seeing the roos around the property and hearing the kookaburras throughout our stay. A peaceful, beautiful spot and exactly the kind of getaway we were looking for. We’d happily stay again!

Beautiful spot. Had the place pretty much to ourselves from Monday to Wednesday. Grounds are fabulous. Nice walks. Bit hard to find... Do NOT listen to your navigation. Follow the instructions given. Would definitely be back.

Here's a warm, authentic Hipcamp review: A Place to Call Home truly lives up to its name. The hosts are welcoming, the atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful, and the property feels safe and well cared for. The campsites are spacious, giving everyone plenty of room, and everything was exactly as described. It's also a fantastic place for dogs, with lots of space for them to enjoy. We had a wonderful stay and would happily return. Highly recommended!

Had a great stay at A Place to Call Home. The campground was peaceful, the creek was beautiful, and the facilities were clean and well maintained. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing camping trip and will be back again.
