100 acres of secluded paradise with a kilometer of free flowing pebbled creek. Bound on two sides by the craggy escarpments of the Budgong and Morton National Parks there is ample grassland to give a feeling of space yet an abundance of trees to wander through as you engage with the tame wildlife and magnificent birdlife. Bring your mountain bike, fishing rod, swimmers, hiking boots, tennis racket, basketball (a hoop on the tennis court) or climbing gear and leave the kids in the play area while you sit by the creek and listen to the water tumbling through the rocks. If you are as intrigued by rare animals as we are, then this is the place for you. 63 Bird species, 24 mammals, 16 reptiles, and 12 amphibians have been sighted in the area (Clarke 2012) and this includes many rare and endangered species including the platypus, brush-tailed rock wallaby, Giant burrowing frog, Gang-gang cockatoo, Glossy black-cockatoo, Koala, Little Lorikeet and the Yellow-bellied glider. We only have three campsites at present, so you will be guaranteed peace, space and privacy. with a minimum of 400m between all sites. Please note, that your group must be self-contained, with their own camp toilet, however fresh drinking water is available. Access is into a valley on a well maintained unsealed road but there are some minor causeways making it unsuitable for busses or long low slung vans. An ordinary sedan will do for Billabong and Dad's camp sites but you will need some power for towing and a 4x4 to tow out in any rain. Riverbend site is only suitable for 4x4's and off-road camp trailers. You are a 40 minute drive from the sea (try the Shoalhaven 100 beach challenge https://www.shoalhaven.com/100-beach-challenge/ ) and just 15km from the historical town of Kangaroo Valley with its myriad of water activities, golf, wine estates, and quaint shopping. ttps://visitkangaroovalley.com.au/see-and-do/

A large campsite (700 square meters) right up against the bubbling Budgong Creek (keep your eyes open for the platypus), surrounded by trees and with as much firewood as you can gather. The real star of the show is the creek, with the splashing of the water making the perfect backdrop to your break away. The more adventurous should seek out the swimming holes and bring a mask to see the Bass and other fish underwater. A half-drum BBQ with rustic log seating makes for the perfect evening under the stars. Breakfast at the picnic table overlooking the creek, a billabong with birdlife, and a short walk to the kid's playground, functional tennis court (with a basketball hoop), and the farm shed (with fresh water and free high speed wifi). Enjoy the freedom of 100 acres of grassy open space to yourself while camping amongst the trees. (The closest campsite to you is 200 meters away with ample forests in between giving all the space and privacy you could want) This site is easily accessible by 2wd vehicles unless its been raining heavily or you are towing something heavy (well surfaced but untarred roads into a valley). This large campsite (600 square meters) really is the gem of the Wombat Hollow experience. Nestled on a 90 degree bend of the Budgong Creek (keep your eyes open for the platypus), surrounded by trees and with as much firewood as you can gather (feel free to bring an electric chainsaw), your day and evening walks are guaranteed to give you sightings of a host of local animals including wallabies, eastern greys and the cute and plentiful wombats. The real stars of the show are the wood fired hot-tub and the creek, with the burbling of the water over the nearby pebbles making the perfect backdrop to your break away. The more adventurous should seek out the 2 very close swimming holes and bring a mask to see the Bass and other fish underwater. A half-drum BBQ makes for the perfect evening under the stars followed by breakfast at the picnic table overlooking the creek. For the kids its a short walk to the playground and trampoline, functional tennis court (with a basketball hoop), and for adults to stay connected the farm shed has free high speed WIFI. The shed also has treated creek water water but this site has a tap with creek water to fill up the hot tub / do your dishes etc. The closest campsite is 160m away from you with ample trees in between giving all the space and privacy you could want on the 100 acres. This site has a steep causeway and some tree roots to get over. I've seen a Toyota Camry make it to the site but if its raining or you are towing something heavy, you would need a 4x4. This is not a good site for long or low slung caravans. Note: You must have your own toilet facilities. This massive campsite is right up against the bubbling Budgong Creek (keep your eyes open for the platypus). The sound of the water washing over the pebbles is the gem of the Dad's Camp experience. Surrounded by trees and in its own 7 acre paddock, with as much firewood as you can gather, your day and evening walks are guaranteed to give you sightings of a host of local animals including the cute and plentiful wombats. Chatting around the half drum fire on raised logs as the evening stars appear makes for the perfect ending to a day spent in your own private shallow swimming area at this campsite. (bring a mask to see the Bass and other fish underwater at the swimming holes). For the kids its a medium walk to the playground and trampoline, functional tennis court, and for adults to stay connected the farm shed has free high speed WIFI (and potable water). The campsites are all very far apart with the closest site being 200 meters away and ample trees in between giving all the space and privacy you could want on the 100 acres. This site is easily accessible by 2wd vehicles unless there has been a lot of rain (untarred but well surfaced road into a valley) or you are towing a very heavy trailer. A smaller, secluded campsite ideal for a single trailer / family with the best views on the farm set on its own 5 acre paddock. The elevated view of the surrounding escarpments and trees make the perfect backdrop to your early evening sundowners. Your water options include a short walk to the river or a private trail behind the site leading to an often flowing waterfall. Amenities are a half-drum firepit and a large picnic table. (You need to be self sufficient for a toilet). This site is only accessible by 4wd vehicles if you are towing anything as the last 160m is unsealed at 1:10 gradient. The site receives direct sunlight from late morning. On the farm the 3km of creek frontage is the star of the show (keep your eyes open for the platypus) but we also have a billabong with birdlife, a kid's playground, functional tennis court (with a basketball hoop), and the farm shed (with fresh water and high speed wifi). Enjoy the freedom of 100 acres of grassy open space while camping amongst the trees. Opening for Xmas 2025, The T shaped site allows groups to camp with direct and easy access to your own waist deep swimming hole in the Budgong Creek (keep your eyes open for the platypus) . Surrounded by trees giving total privacy with as much firewood as you can gather (feel free to bring an electric chainsaw), your day and evening walks are guaranteed to give you sightings of a host of local animals including wallabies, eastern greys and the cute and plentiful wombats. The Crossing
The Crossing at Wombat Hollow is an idyllic spot beside the fresh, flowing creek. We appreciated that there was just a handful of sites on the property, thoughtfully spaced for the feeling of seclusion and ultimate peace and quiet. The site was well-maintained, freshly mown, and provided a great firepit and rustic log seating, as well as a quality picnic table. Host Vallance was responsive, helpful, and made communication easy. We had a lovely stay, in the company of kangaroos, wallabies, and abundant birdlife (and it was nice to know that the wombats and platypus were also neighbours, although we didn't see them). Thank you for sharing this special place. We plan to return in the future.

2nd stay at Billabong and as enjoyable as the first. Nice large, flat and private spot for our 2 vans and 2 dogs, right by a flowing river. Easy communication with Valence. Won’t be our last stay.

Beautiful scenery and plenty of space around our camp. Camp was situated at the top of a flowing river which the kids enjoyed all day. Highly recommend staying here, very clean and well maintained.

Wow such an amazing campsite. Had the whole place to myself most of the time I was there. Campsites are very spread out. So much wildlife around, went for an early morning walk and saw lots of wombats. Had the best time camping with my dog. Great communication from Vallance, easy to find. Can’t recommend more!

We stayed at Dad's Camp at the end of January - was a truly gorgeous spot and we had it completely to ourselves - all the sites are very private and a long way from each other (we couldn't see the next campers). Kids loved having their own creek to play in, the water was the perfect temp and deep enough in parts for a proper swim. We were lucky to see lots of wombats - even a baby with its mum - and the birdsong in the morning was magnificent. Vallance gave us great instructions - the site was easy to find. Kids are already planning their return.

Really great property and we enjoyed our spot and the privacy it offered. Only morning shade so we recommend a gazebo but we spent the days down at the river. The picnic table and fire drum were great additions. Star gazing was fantastic too! We hope to return to try another spot next time but highly recommend Pecan.

Loved camping at Dad’s camp! Perfect spot, own private section of the river to swim in, all spots were secluded and barely saw or heard the other campers. Beautiful property overall. We’ll definitely be coming back.

Great instructions were provided, and it’s a wonderful open campsite with plenty of level areas to choose from. There’s also a very handy picnic table already in place. While the flies were around, they weren’t as bad as we expected thanks to the fly traps laid out by Vallance — much appreciated. Access down to the creek on hot days was a bit challenging for us oldies,. Not sure how much water is in the creek when there hasn’t been rain about. The sound of the rapids and the very slight breeze along the creek were a welcome relief with temperatures at 40. The road in was in pretty good condition, but we were glad to be in a 4WD while towing a heavy van. My parents have made it in with a 2WD while towing, though it would be much more challenging if it had rained. This will definitely be going on our favourites list — we’d happily return.

We stayed at The Crossing camp site at Wombat Hollow Lodge for the long weekend and it was perfect. Completely Off-grid with Private access to the river. Only 20 minutes from Nowra so if you forget essentials it’s a quick trip. There are also only 3-4 other camp spots on the property and they’re all far enough apart that you can’t hear them. They’re also doggo friendly! Vallance was really quick to reply to my questions and was super helpful.

Wonderful spot. We were there in the early jan heatwave and managed fine with the creek and shade at Riverbend. Vallance had laid fly baits all over the place which kept them manageable. So close to Nowra but felt properly remote with all the peace that brings. Communication with Vallance was cheerful and prompt and we’ll be back again for sure.

We all really enjoyed staying at wombat hollow, there was plenty of space, peace and quiet with plenty of distance to other campsites. The swim spot was great even though there hasn’t been much rain in months. Vallance was very welcoming and made a big fire for all the campers to enjoy at New Year’s Eve. We will definitely be going back again 👌

Perfect location, loved staying on this property. We enjoyed daily swims in the river, the site was private and well maintained with camping neighbours nowhere near our site. Vallance and his family were so very friendly and hospitable and we will come back many a time in the future. Plenty of morning and afternoon shade at the site and because it's a new site there is a huge amount of firewood for campers to utilise. Nothing negative to say. Dream camping trip over new years, peaceful, with a mega bonfire put on for guests to celebrate the new year. Park and trampoline were perfect for kids.

We had an absolutely wonderful stay, and meeting Vallance was one of the highlights of our trip. He is a genuinely big-hearted man whose hospitality, honesty, and kindness are beyond imagination. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and truly looked after. It is very clear how much hard work, care, and love Vallance puts into maintaining the land and campsites. Everything is thoughtfully prepared, peaceful, and beautifully cared for, which makes the experience even more special. Our kids were incredibly happy, and as a family we felt relaxed, safe, and connected to nature. The conversations, the warmth, and the genuine human connection made this stay unforgettable. This was our fifth return visit, and we’ll be back again and again Each campsite is private and well maintained, Valance is an exceptional host, even going so far as to place fly traps at each campsite, which is rare when it comes to Hipcamps.

Stunning property only a short drive from Nowra. Felt lush and secluded with great vistas from the Pecan site. Vallance was super responsive and helpful. Would definitelyyy recommend bringing fly traps and repellant for the demon flies and mozzies in summer. Always lovely having limited reception but a nice feature having the wifi only available at the communal shed in case you need to get an AllTrails map or weather update! Thanks again!

Second time camping at Wombat Hollow. Loved it even more. Went for an early evening stroll this time and saw so many wombats. The bird song was gorgeous evening and morning. Camped up at the Pecan Wood camp. The view from the top of the rise is wonderful and worth being a little further from the creek. Pecan gets sun all day so perfect for cooler months. If we visit in summer we'll stay at one of the shady creek-side camps.

One of our favorite camp spots to date! Private sites, right in with nature and plenty of wombats on the property. The tub at our site was an added bonus. Val was a super welcoming and generous host. Recommend the eggs from his daughter’s chickens. Would definitely go back

We loved our weekend at Wombat Hollow. We were spoilt having the whole place to ourselves which was ideal as we were looking for quiet downtime. After checking out the whole place we realised that even if all the other camps were full, each camp is in its own secluded spot with lots of space around it and between camps so other campers would not have been a bother at all and we still would have had acres and acres to ourselves. The whole place is well maintained and signposted. Lots of helpful instructions when booking so we knew exactly what to bring and if our vehicle amd camper would be suitable. Vallance is a superb host. The camp sites are perfectly simple. Great fire pit. Sturdy benches, level ground, shade and gorgeous lanscape and wildlife all around. Stunning night skies.
