If your heart beats to the vibrant drum of the Southern Highlands but you want the space and freedom of camping on a great river, then Wings of the Carribee is for you. Two campsites share 20 Acres of cottonwood trees on the Wingecarribee river. They are 250m apart and both on the riverfront giving you the seclusion you need while allowing you access to all that the Highlands have to offer. Bring your fishing rod and yabbie net, sit at the large picnic table, rent a kayak and go for a paddle, come say hello to the miniature Hereford cattle and enjoy the half drum fire pit while watching the cows grazing across the river. Dogs are welcome as long as they don't chase the cows. Of course you will be tempted to explore the area. Wings sits directly between Bowral and Moss Vale (both are less than 5km away) and is 14 km from historic Berrima so you can leave the camper and head into town to enjoy the old world charm of the area. The Southern Highlands is ideal if you’re wanting to escape Sydney (100km) or Canberra (160km) without lengthy travel. Discover all that the area has to offer including a host of idyllic country towns, fascinating shops and regular country events. With it’s abundant wineries, award-winning restaurants, culinary delights, and natural splendor, it’s the place to unplug, find yourself and indulge in some of life’s finest pleasures. If the birds and the bees are your thing then you are also in for a rare treat. We have eastern greys, rabbits, the odd fox and a host of birdlife (eyes open for the resident wedgetail pair, pelicans, black swans etc.), but whatever you seek from your break, we look forward to hosting you. Note that you have to bring your own toilet facility. Please confirm when you book that you are self sufficient in this regard for a speedier booking experience.

Carribee is a large campsite directly on the Wingcarribee river. You will be camping among the trees with flat sections for your RV or tent which then slopes gently down to the large picnic table, firepit, 2 person swing and the river. Fall asleep to the sound of the frogs and wake up rested to the abundant birdlife ready for a walk around the 20 acres of land that is full of interesting flowers, trees and interconnected waterways and bridges. While you are here, hire one of the kayaks (just message me about this, the river is amazing for kayaking), throw a line in the water for the perch, carp and trout or bring a yabbie net to see if you can get one of the illusive yabbies. If its the allure of the Highlands you seek, leave the tent or trailer and spend the day exploring all that the area has to offer. Feel free to bring your electric chainsaw to help yourself to the abundant wood lying around and build a campfire in the firepit. Dogs are very welcome but because we have cattle and our neighbors have cattle and horses, they would need to be on leads or very good with animals. (The other campsite Yabbie is is 250m away ensuring your privacy). Note: You must have your own toilet facilities. Yabbie corner is a good sized (20m x 40m) campsite directly on the Wingcarribee river. You will be camping right on the riverbank among the trees with a flat section for your RV or tent which then slopes gently down to the riverbank. There is a large picnic table and firepit (feel free to bring your electric chainsaw to help yourself to the wood lying around). Note that this site used to have a fence around it but that has been taken down. Carribee Riverside Campsite
We loved camping at Wings of Carribee. Great location, so private with other campers 200m away, so you really do feel like you're on your own. The cows are super friendly and the swing chair was a winner. We even got out and went kayaking and paddle boarding. We will definitely be back and can't wait to check out Vallance'S other property. He's a top guy.

Idyllic stay

This is the most idyllic place to stay. We were easily able to get our 21 foot on-road caravan onto the site and out again. We kayaked down and up the river, made friends with Mickey the cow and had the loveliest time as a family around the campfire. Thank you for hosting us Vallance, your hospitality was exemplary. Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise with us. To go anywhere else is a let down.

We loved spending a few days in our van here with friends. Camped next to the water and saw lots bird life and very friendly cows came to visit. Lots of wood on property that we were able to use for fires. Close to explore Moss vale Bowral Mittagong etc. Definately will be back to spend some more time at this very peaceful spot.

Unreal Spot to get out of Sydney with the van . We had friends in their van aswell on the same site Carribee. Plenty of room . So relaxing clean and quiet. Friendly cows come by for a visit. Definitely comeback .

We absolutely loved our stay at Carribee. With the stunning sunrises, the peace to just "be" and the beautiful sunsets - we didn't want to be anywhere else. Vallance and his family were the perfect hosts and so kind and thoughtful with their welcome inclusions - the sturdy outdoor table and benches, the perfectly placed fire drum - and the swing - my morning tea spot, my daydreaming spot, my reading spot - and of course the late afternoon wine spot. Backwards, forwards, sidewards the view was perfect. Despite there being two camping spots on the property you felt like you had the place completely to yourselves. We will definitely go back, and I 100% recommend you put Carribee on the top of your "must visit" Hipcamps.

We’ve stayed at several sites across two properties hosted by Valence and would highly recommend all sites across Wings of Carribee and Wombat Hollow. Host always ensures lawns are cut and sites are clean. Sites are well sized and the picnic table and fire pit at each, is a welcome convenience

Thoroughly enjoyed our time despite the rain and even decided to extend our booking for an extra two nights! Beautiful spot right on the river that feels like a world away. Dog friendly but watch out for Mickey the cow! Friendly enough but did try to stand up to the dogs.

This location is even better than advertised. The views, cows, bird life and sunset over the river were just delightful. Our site was very well presented and the directions were great. Valance popped in to introduce himself and I wouldn't hesitate to reccomend this location.

Great location. We used it as a base to take the kids to Jamberoo and then tour Bowral and surrounds before continuing north. Very quiet and beautiful location by the water. Vallance was a wonderful host.

We loved our time camping on Yabbie Corner. Vallance was a great host, very welcoming, great communications and you can see that he takes great care of the property. Highly recommend hiring a kayak to explore the river, we had no luck catching fish but enjoyed paddling the river. Highly recommend staying here, it was easily one of the best Hipcamps we have stayed at!

Had a great stay at Yabie corner.Beautiful spot to stay with the grandkids. They loved the kayaks and catching yabies. The cows were a highlight. Kids loved them and they where very friendly even with the dogs.The hosts and his family great. Would highly recommend this camp.

This is an awesome property. We were a group of 6 and easily had enough room for our campers. There is lots of space and the wonderful views. Vallance is a great host who regularly checked in with us ensure that we were having a good time. I can highly recommend visiting this beautiful property.

This was truly a stunning stay. The views accross the water and the sounds of so many different bird life. the area was fenced off so I felt totally safe letting the pups run freely. Vallance was such an accomodating host who even on a Friday afternoon came down to help me out of a pickle I had gotten mysleft into. Such a gentleman. and if your lucky enough you might even get lucky with some free range eggs. A beautiful spot. I will re visit one day soon.

Wonderful experience and many thanks to Vallance and his lovely wife Nikki. Made us feel very welcome and enjoyed a lovely chat around the fire pit on the river. Wonderful property with two sites, a distance apart. 5 friendly cow visited us every morning. Dog friendly, easy access for 2 wheel motor home and well maintained and mowed sites. Will definitely return as Bowral as it is only a short drive away with many heritage homes and shops including the Don Bradman oval and museum. Worth a visit. Would recommend this camp and will return. Thanks Vallance!!

My friends and I loved camping here. Great spot by the water, flat ground for tents, plenty of wood for our campfires, and a very close distance to amenities in town. The host, Vallance, was easy to chat to.

Great spot overlooking neighbouring farms and river. The place was well looked after with fire pit and swing. Very private and even plenty of wood to keep the fire burning on the chilli nights.

Valance was a great host . Great communication and easy instructions on accessing the property. Lovely spot by the river . Our family group had a wonderful weekend away. Fire pit, tables and swing seat a wonderful addition. Definitely recommend. .

We loved our stay at Yabbies corner. The camp spot was perfect! So beautiful and private. Also an amazing location just down the road from Bowral. Vallance was super fast to respond to any questions and went out of his way to make sure everything was perfect. We’ll definitely be back!

What a picturesque spot to camp! We loved being able to have our dog with us and the fencing meant she could sniff around and not stray far from camp. My kids enjoyed being able to hang around the campfire at the same time as fishing. Vallance even loaned us a yabby trap for my son to use. We would love to come back one day.

Yabbie corner was a beautiful spot on the river, host was great and friendly, the site was exactly as described and well maintained. Peaceful spot with lots of bird life and you can go for a walk along the tracks. Would definitely come back.
