We had a nice, relaxing stay overall, even though it wasn’t what we expected.
The property is huge, with open grassy areas and options for sun or shade, but we felt a bit limited in choosing our exact campsite and were mostly pointed to certain spots (sometimes very close to other people). After having to reject a few times we found a nice spot but we could hear the highway at times.
We didn’t see a lot of wildlife, just one or two kangaroos, some horses from far in the no-access zone, and the bats in the sunsets, which were actually pretty amazing to watch.
The portaloos were clean and well looked after (but, in our opinion, not better than a well maintained national park drop toilet), but they’re all in the sun in one spot near the container, so it was a long walk for us. Also, bring your own water, there’s very little available on site despite what’s advertised, and we were told we (4 people) could get about 20L for our three night stay if really needed. We ended up refilling in the nearest town which is about 15 minutes away.
On the plus side, we loved being able to collect firewood from the forest and enjoy a campfire, and the location is great for exploring Myall Lakes National Park. In the end, we still enjoyed our stay and had a good time but if you don't have pets, we would recommend trying any of the multiple camping options that the Myall Lakes National Park has to offer.
