Find us on a large property on the banks of the Timbarra River, located 20 km / 30 min south of Drake Village (an old gold mining community). We share the property with lots of wildlife, and with our resident cows. There is currently only one camping site accessible by car (the River Block), but if you're up for a trek we can point you to the back hills where you'll find a whole other world. Your hosts live further back on the property so you can find us if you need help. Please note there is no mobile reception, so it is a great way to get away from it all. There are no bins here... please remove all your rubbish on departure. Campfires are welcome (when no fire ban). You can bring your own firewood, or gather what fallen timber you can find. There is currently no toilet, shower or drinking water so please bring your supplies. Pets possible on request. We love having furry friends visiting, but we also love our local wildlife and our lawnmower cows, and we like to keep their camper experience stress-free too.

Valley camping

100%
(2)
Tent site · Sleeps 12
The other Rocky River Play Station campsite and cabin are up near the front of the property, near the Timbarra River. But this campsite the rest of the 700-acre property, as it flares up into a hidden valley, centred around Tom's Creek. You'll need a 4wd (or sturdy legs!) and a sense of adventure up here, but you'll have absolute peace, and your choice of where to go — perhaps stay on the cleared section of the valley along the river, or trek upwards into the hills. You'll be neighbours with dingoes, kangaroos, and all kinds of other wildlife. And of course our friendly gang of cows will come say hello if they're in the vicinity. There are no facilities: Bring your own water, take your own rubbish out with you. Campfires are welcome - there is fallen timber around for gathering. You can also buy cut firewood at the main house if needed.

The River Block

98%
(25)
RV/tent site · Sleeps 22 · Vehicles under 13 m
DECEMBER 2025 note: we have friends and family staying intermittently on our property through December. Camping bookings are still accepted, but please be aware that you won’t necessarily have the whole river block to yourselves this month. The River Block is easy access from the road, and easy access to the Timbarra River. It has a gentle slope at the entry point, and some lovely flat sites for camping. A few gums give shade, and the area is fully fenced. You can explore the rocky slabs and ever-changing river to find the best dipping spots. Your hosts live on the property (around the hill; well out of sight from the river block) so are always handy if you need something. We will aim to drop in to say hello and make sure you're settled on your day of arrival, but otherwise leave you in peace. A gang of friendly, inquisitive cows also live on the property, but can be closed out of the area while you're camping. :) Please note there is no mobile reception, so it is a great way to get away from it all. About 20km / 30 min south of Drake Village (an old mining community). Only one booking is accepted at a time on this block, so your group will have the space to yourselves. However if we have other guests staying elsewhere on the property, they may pass through to access the river. Please remember to remove all their rubbish on departure; there are no bins on site. Campfires are welcome - there is fallen timber around for gathering. You can also buy cut firewood here. There are no toilets, no showers, no drinking water, please bring in (and out!) what you need.

Brushtales Bush Cabin

100%
(11)
Cabin · Sleeps 20 · 1 bedroom · 1 toilet
DECEMBER 2025 note: we have friends and family staying intermittently on our property through December. Cabin bookings are still accepted, but please be aware that you may bump into us, especially down by the river. The Cabin is for you if you love spending time in nature, but appreciate full amenities. Set on the side of a hill with a view over a creek and across to Bulldog Rock, the cabin has all the amenities you need for a very comfortable stay. Full kitchen, bath/shower, flushing toilet, washing machine, etc. In the winter, warm yourself by the wood fire (and there's a pellet fire in the bedroom for the frosty mornings). Lounge on the large deck (but note, there is no railing, so take care of yourself!) and look for wallabies, goannas, kookaburras, and wild roaming peacocks. It's completely off-grid with solar power and fresh water. There's no mobile reception in the area, but wifi is available. The kitchen and living area with the fireplace is a large open-plan space. The cabin has one large bedroom, with a double bed and a single bunk — comfortably accommodating 4 people. If you want to make a gathering of it, there is flat area outside to set up extra tents and camping space (BYO gear). If you wish to book for extra people camping on the flat, just add them as extra people to your booking. Enjoy the whole property to explore, and walk to the Rocky River for a swim whenever you like. Renting the cabin is super affordable, and we keep it so by inviting you to bring your own essentials. For example, sheets will be on the beds, but bring your own pillows, blankets and towels. (Or add them as extra add-ons when you book.) You can also add firewood bundles to your booking, to have a stack of good burning timber waiting for you when you arrive. There is basic cooking equipment, eg frypan, pot, utensils, plates, cups, glasses. Please take your rubbish on departure; we don’t have a garbage service out here. Campfires are welcome - there is fallen timber around for gathering. You can also buy cut firewood while you’re here, or bring in your own. This Cabin is the home of the Brushtales Arts Residency. If you’re an artist looking for a week of focus, check out the residency at rockyriverhq.com
