Experience a quiet, calm camping getaway on the Gloucester River in Invergordon. We have Two, single site, private camping areas available, with both offering 300 metres of riverfront, giving you your own stretch of water to relax, fish, or simply enjoy the peaceful surroundings. The sites are fully accessible for tents, small campers, and caravans, making it perfect for a range of camping styles. The Retreat site is the first gate on the Left of the road. Stringybark Escape is slightly further up on the Righthand side. Both site entries can be identified by red identifier on the gate. Wake up to the gentle sounds of the river, soak in the natural beauty of the surrounding farm, and unwind in complete privacy. Keep an eye out for local wildlife like bandicoots, native birds, and even the occasional platypus in the river. Just a short drive away, explore the Barrington Tops and Gloucester Tops National Park, with scenic walks, waterfalls, Gondwana Rainforest and abundant wildlife to discover. The historic town of Gloucester is also nearby, offering charming cafes, local markets, and shops for a taste of rural life. Whether you’re after a tranquil solo escape, a romantic riverside retreat, or a family camping adventure, this site is the perfect spot to reconnect with nature, enjoy the serene riverfront lifestyle, and experience the beauty of this amazing part of the world.

It is the only site in the paddock so no need to worry about sharing this amazing space. Stringybark Escape offers a peaceful riverside escape set along a long stretch of gentle rapids and swimming holes beneath towering stringybark and blue gum trees. The campsite sits within a few hundred metres of neighbouring accommodation while still providing plenty of space and natural screening for privacy and relaxation. Fall asleep to the sound of flowing water and wake to birdsong in a calm bush setting. Enjoy easy access to the river for swimming, fishing, or simply unwinding by the water’s edge. Ideal for tents, campers, and caravans seeking a tranquil nature stay close to Gloucester and nearby national parks.

River Retreat
Riverbend Retreat was our own little patch of privacy for our family getaway. It’s a great space with a running river and a deep waterhole for swimming. We loved it! We’ll definitely be returning. Thanks Sam!

Great level site with ample room for our two vans. Easy creek access. Close to Gloucester Tops NP with lots on offer to explore, but the campsite itself was entertainment enough - fun to explore the creek and enough slashed space to have a game of cricket. Sam is a great host.

Having a couple of anxious dogs, I really loved that it is a solo campsite. The dogs had the best time of their lives. Beautiful location by the river with an awesome swimming hole. Felt safe and private I will definitely be back.

Freedom, peace and quiet

Beauty of a camp spot to roll up , set up and relax for a few days , a week or as long as you what to get away from the rat race. We only stayed 3 nights and was total bliss. Only noises where the river, the birds and the old farm tractor going about it farm life passing by up the road to get to his next paddock. This place is amazing. Also done a day trip up to the Gloucester tops NP precinct after the misty rain cleared on our last morning to visit the water Falls and the look out that is named after the grazier that start the property we camp on. And was partly responsible for the protection and many walking tracks in the NP. Swimming in the deep water hole infront of our camp was amazing, fresh and clean. This has definitely became a top 2 camp spot for me and my partner, who will definitely be back to enjoy the tranquillity.

Great campsite by Gloucester River

Camped in January with two dogs; Spacious campsite by lovely Gloucester River and an awesome swimming hole. We’ve spent 3 nights by the river and loved the space and privacy, being the only campers on the property. The paddock is large and secure with a locked gate; easily accessible from the road & suitable for 2WD; we had torrential rain during our stay and had no problems driving out from the property; our dogs were happy with the area large for zoomies & ball chasing (there was no cattle in the paddock during our stay) Plenty of shade along the river banks till around 1:00pm; we had a gazebo which provided shade for the rest of the day; loved the views of Gloucester Tops and the company of resident water dragon.
