Misty Mountain Wildlife Refuge is a 330 acre farm which provides sanctuary to kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, echidnas and many bird species including their habitats. There are Alpacas and Sheep, Kangaroos, Wombats, Kookaburras, Echidnas and many other animals that enjoy this property. The land has 80 acres of cleared grassland this side of the river, and for the adventurous and energetic you can rome the other 250 acres by crossing to the other side of the rive, there are large stands of rainforest and bushland, with 2.5 km of Brown Mountain Creek and its tributary meandering through it. There are some swimming holes and mini rapids; the crystal clear water flowing over the river rocks can be heard from most parts of the farm. The land comprises Little Brown Mountain and has 360 degree views of the surrounding mountains and farmland with wonderful cloud formations and mists contributing their mystery and beauty to the dramatic landscape. There is an orchard with trees producing several varieties of apple, stone fruit and citrus in abundance. A cottage garden produces various vegetables and herbs such as spinach, celery, potatoes, garlic, chives, lettuce, rocket, parsley, turmeric, peas, beans, tomato etc. Past bushfire damage to some trees in the cleared paddocks is evident however, many are recovering well and most provide photographers with interesting and dramatic subject matter. Due to the catastrophic events of the NSW bush fires in this area all camp fires must be kept responsibly safe and no unsafe camp fires will be tolerated. Thank you for visiting farm.

The Flats Campground
We loved being the only ones at the Flats Campground during the week & also the daily visits from the sheep. The camp-site was in full sun though until late afternoon so you do need shade. Further down the river the swimming holes were great. You can't see the river from this campground but you can hear it & it's only a 20m walk through the trees to the river bank. On the other side of the river we saw kangaroos & a deer, even a goanna scared us on our last day up a tree near the campsite... Ben was very informative upon arrival & showed us around his property & provided access to the fruit in his orchard. We would stay here again, thankyou for having us

The Flats Campground
Great little getaway! We had a nice time parked on well kept grounds with hilltop views surrounding and easy access to our own private swimming hole. Ben was great (offered us fresh ripe fruit from his orchard!). Site is fairly level grass with moveable firepit provided.

Kangaroo Gully
What a spot!!!
Absolutely awesome spot! Super clean, accessible, and this time of the year everything was green and healthy. We had the area to ourselves which was a nice green patch of grass, super easy to setup camp at. View of mountains was amazing. Benjamin was very accomodating and welcoming, meeting us at the front gate and taking us to the spot. Highly recommend this camp spot and would 100% be keen to comeback again in the future.
