Located 19 km due east of the famous historical village of Tenterfield the working, cattle breeding, property "Mindoo" has recently opened its gates to campers. Framed by the rugged border range National Parks "Mindoo" is 1100 acres of rolling green hills dissected by the pure, cascading, waters of the Cataract River which provide a number of private riverside campsites. Campers are encouraged to meander along the continually changing River and explore its many secluded swimming holes and enjoy the abundant wildlife that cohabitates with the Angus/Wagyu cow herd. Direct access to the neighbouring National Parks and State Forests offers an array of day trips to hikers, mountain bikers, or horse riders where they can discover the natural treasures of Basket Swamp and Boonoo Boonoo Falls, Woolool Woolooni, among others. For those who require a little more comfort, and lets face it we all do at times, the Mindoo Cabin is available. Featuring three bedrooms, open plan living/dining/kitchen,and a shady deck overlooking the River the cabin sleeps eight and still allows visitors to partake in all the adventures that "Mindoo" offers with the benefit of a comfortable rest when the day is done. Unfortunately horse riding is no longer covered by our insurance policy. You are able to bring your horses, however evidence of your own insurance policy must be provided. Be as adventurous or as restful as you please as both options are freely available. Mountain Biking, Hiking, or just riding your hammock and relaxing we are sure you will enjoy your time at "Mindoo". All of our river sites are designated and are space apart. As most of our sites are on the river and have farm tracks to access, if it is wet we may have to move you to a different site. 4wds are recommended for all sites and are required for some site. Please read the listing for the campsite you are wanting to book. Some of our sites do not suit caravans. All roads require high clearance vans. If you do not like dogs or your own dogs are not very sociable Mindoo may not be the place for you. Daisy the Doodle (Golden Retriever/Poodle) and Paul the Pig Dog (a very gentle Bull Mastif/Catahoula) like to come and say hello to campers at The Park & The Junction. This place is beautiful. Running creek, well kept green grass and compost toilet near by. Large fire pit nearby. Loved meeting Daisy the Doodle and Paul, beautiful dogs.

Had such a lovely weekend away with the family staying at Mindoo. Access to The Park with a camper trailer was a breeze. The site was tidy and well maintained. Only a short walk to a nice clean toilet too!

Our stay here at The Park was wonderful! Nothing to fault. We had a shady, grassy camping spot right on the creek with a well made fire pit ready to go. Plenty of great swimming holes. Welcoming hosts. Great toilet facilities. Beautiful property to explore.

The Cascades site at Mindoo is very good. This is one of our favourite sites in South East Queensland. I would thoroughly recommend. The plusses: * Quite secluded. No one has reason to drive past your site * Site is level * Nearby shared composing toilet is new and very clean * Creek is close, with multiple swimming holes about chest deep. Some small 1m high cascades. Quite pretty * Constant rushing water noise is relaxing * Tenterfield is about a 25 minute drive away from your site The negatives (all minor): * Not a lot of shade. Can be hot mid-summer, but would be great in cooler weather * Shared composting toilet is on top of steep hill, and a few minutes walk * Creek is not very visible from site. You get glimpses. Access requires scrambling over some rocks * Bruxner highway is quite close, but hard to see. Noise from river blocks out most sound, so not really a detractor * Take care where on the site you set up, as there are some overhead dead branches

We stayed at at Koala and had a fantastic weekend, our dogs absolutely loved roaming around and have a swim in the creek. Beautiful spot and well maintained grassy area perfect for our vans. Sites are all very private and was great to have a walk and drive around the property. Will definitely be back.

The incredible “Green Hole”

We had a wonderful three night stay in our tent at the Green Hole with my dad and our 2 kids. The site is right away from all the other sites, and the drive out there across the fields was stunning. Once you get there, you head down a steep hill which will definitely test out your 4WD skills, to your campsite on the sandy bank of the river. Plenty of shade plus we got a beautiful breeze too. Nice big swimming hole with some spots deep enough that the adults couldn’t touch the bottom. Other spots shallow enough to paddle up to shins. We went exploring and found some rapid waterfalls which the kids had endless fun playing in. We were also treated to watching 3 platypus playing right by the banks in the early morning. You will need to bring your own toilet, as the ones on site are a fair drive away, but this wasn’t an issue for us as we always travel with our own anyway. The whole property is beautifully maintained and it is clear the owners put a lot of time and care into it. Two things to bear in mind with this site - you are camping on sand. With the recent rain, the ground was very soft. We ended up needing to drill in our tent pegs. This site also backs into the Bruxner Hwy so you will hear cars and trucks as they go past, though there wasn’t much traffic through the night. For those wanting to feel like they’re in the middle of nowhere, this could be a bit jarring, but it certainly didn’t take away from the magic of the place for us. Definitely recommend!

Great sites that are well mowed and plenty of room for everyone in our group. The river is clean and cool and very refreshing on a hot day. The composting toilet was very clean and well looked after. Prue was very responsive and answered all of our questions. We were also able to drive around the property and go up to the lookout

Absolutely loved our stay at Mindoo The Junction Site such a beautiful property with lovely sites right on the clear scenic waters of the Cataract River! We loved seeing all the wildlife around site from the cows and horses to the king parrots and kingfishers! Toilets and firewood piles were available not far from the site which was super handy! The hosts were very friendly and helpful during our stay we would 100% recommend this Hipcamp was such an amazing stay! Thank you Prue & Bruce for having us we absolutely love your property!

We had our own isolated camping area with our own flowing creek access. Convenient toilet located just out of sight that was magically kept clean and a bounty of firewood to keep the vibes chill. All other camp sites were well out of sight and hearing range. It really was a stunning set up. It is in a dead zone so absolutely no phone service. So either have star link or download prior to arriving. But the digital detox was welcomed.

Loved our camp at The Park at Mindoro. Great spot beside the river to cool down in. The running river was a soothing sound to listen to. The composting toilet was spotless and clean. Close to town and was our base to do the national parks. Highly recommend.

Twin Falls #1
This place is amazing! We didn’t get a response from another place that we tried to book so we contacted Prue at the last minute and she was so accomodating! We stayed at twin falls and it was beautiful you will need a 4WD to get to some of the sites as she mentions also there is no phone reception or internet but that’s why we loved it. There is an incredible view from the top of one of the tracks. Highly recommend this place we loved it.

Amazingly beautiful camp site. The whole area is reserved for the booking so we didn’t have any other campers nearby which is quite rare for sites like this now days. It was very special to camp right on the river and have so much space around us. Not really a swimming spot in the dry season but still nice to hear the flowing water over the rocks. The nearby toilet was the cleanest and most comfortable we’ve ever experienced on a camp ground. The hosts really put a lot of effort into keeping the grounds nice for the campers and communication is great.

Beautiful, tranquil and secluded place. Perfect place to getaway from the hustle and bustle. Our kids and furkids enjoyed the fresh flowing creek, there are a few creek access points only at a short walking distance away. Cattle freely roam the property and you can spot the odd kangaroo here and there. Though you do get a good work out walking up the hill to the nicely maintained composting toilet. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet.

So grateful to have property owners like Prue's family!... Being able to stay on such beautiful land is fantastic! The sound of the river at night while under a sky of stars was calming and just what I needed. My dog Boris had the time of his life, running and swimming. Great clean ammenities. Friendly horses. Fantastic campsites!!!... I'm relaxed the dog is exhausted and I have already recomended Mindoo to my family and friends!!

Fabulous site, unfortunately I can’t follow a map or directions and camped in the wrong area. Luckily it was not too busy. I set up beside beautiful flowing stream in a lovely shaded area a short stroll to 2 toilets. I will definitely be coming back with the family.

We loved camping at the bend! Had our 2 doggos with us and drove in with our 2WD VW transporter and it was perfect. It was by some water and was great for a hot day. Prue and Bruce has a really beautiful and well taken care of property. So much privacy and also a great toilet with running water to wash our hands. We would definitely be back!

We booked both Twin Falls 1 & 2 as we were concerned about the spacing of sites based off the listing. Twin Falls 1 is also quite close to the Cascades site. There are lots of trees between the sites so it does still feel private and you can’t really see the other campers but we were close enough to hear their music. Sites are appropriately listed for 1 car as they are small! We felt Twin Falls 2 was a slightly nicer site but it lacked the easy access to the creek that was at Twin Falls 1. Overall it was great!

'The Bend' site at Mindoo was absolutely perfect. It's incredibly private (we never saw any other campers), we had our own access to the river, close (but not too close) access to a very clean toilet, and a large flat site with a central fire pit. Mindoo is also only 15-20 minutes from Tenterfield if you need to restock. Our dog loved it, too. We cannot wait to come back!

We absolutely loved visiting Mindoo. The entire property was immaculate. The sites were so thoughtfully kept and the toilets were the cleanest toilets we’ve seen to date. The property has great driving tracks with amazing views! Bruce & Prue did a drive by & checked in with us - even going out of their way to provide firewood for us and dropping back to our site. Lovely people! We will be back!

The Crossing
Great campsite with amazing granite outcrops and river beds to explore. Site was easy to find and instructions provided were helpful. Was pleasantly surprised by the clean toilet avail that was a short walk from the site, saved us having to use our portable loo. Hosts were very friendly, checking in with us once we were settled. Hope to visit again sometime and will definitely recommend to friends. Thanks for opening your beautiful property for others to enjoy, a real gem to have in the Tenterfield Shire.
