6 m pop-up camper · With kids · We recently stayed for two nights at this camp spot with our two young kids (5 & 2). While the listing looked promising, the experience didn’t quite meet expectations.
Firstly, the site wasn’t as private as the photos suggested — the main residence is very close by and overlooks the campsite, which took away from the sense of seclusion we were hoping for. The area also hadn’t been maintained; the grass was long, and there were weeds throughout, including castor oil plants. A quick mow would have made a big difference.
We were also disappointed when we attempted to take a short walk with our kids down the public road at the entry to the property. They had little plastic bikes and were enjoying riding the gentle slopes. However, the host approached us and told us we weren’t allowed to be there due to safety concerns, even though it’s a public road. We felt this was a bit over the top — we were supervising closely, the kids were having fun, and there was no issue at the time.
Firewood was a bit too overpriced for very poor timber too. Burned through two bags within a couple of hours for $40.
Overall, the stay was okay, but a few small changes and a more welcoming attitude could have made it much better
