Entry is not ideal for large caravans or campervans. ***** We do not allow fires at the campsite between the 1st of October and the 1st of March. We apologise for any inconvenience to this rule. La Cascina is a small property on a hill surrounded by trees and bushland. There are two main camping areas which would suite tent and small to medium van/car camping. There is access to neighbouring bushland with nice short walks available in the area. Only 20 minutes by car to Newcastle CBD, 10 minutes by car to Redhead Beach and 5 minutes by car to Lake Macquarie. La Cascina is a great spot to stop overnight on a road trip or to get away for the weekend to relax. We have no toilets so please bring your own. The access to the property is a steep sealed driveway. Site 1 is an open site with plenty of shade. The area is flat. More suited to larger camping setups. This site is less private. There is vision of the neighbouring property and an overflow campsite 50 meters away. Site 2 is a more uneven surface area which is better for smaller vans and tents. Redhead Beach is the closest dog beach 10 minutes by car. Croudace Bay is a dog park on the lake which is 5 minutes by car. This is a family owned acreage that brings the best parts of environmental living with the benefits of being close to the coast and a city. A very long time ago it was the site of a quarry. The nature has returned and we are left with a beautiful forested acreage.

Site 2 is a more uneven surface area which is better for smaller vans,tents, rooftop tents and camper trailers. It is a large forested area. The site is well-shaded and feels very secluded considering you are so close to the town of Newcastle. It's very forested so be mindful of where you park as there can be falling branches. There is a lot of bird life in the area as well as possums. No fires between 1st of October and 1st of March.

Site 1 is an open site with plenty of shade. The area is flat. We recommend small camping setups like rooftop tents, vans, and small trailers. The main reason is the steep gravel drive makes it hard to get out. However, some campers have enjoyed bigger vans in this area. If you are a confident driver and have a 4wd you may be able to bring vans like in the photos. At this site you have some vision of the neighboring property you also can see our main house and an overflow campsite which is close (50-100meters away) to the main house, which reduces the feeling of seclusion. However, this is a lovely site for camping. There are excellent sunset views through the trees and lots of birds around this site. We do not allow fires from the 1st of October until the 1st of March.

I have stayed here before and it was fine. But this time there were just too many mosquitoes, which I know the description warns against, but in the evening it got pretty bad. Also had other campers walk through my campsite a few times. It’s a good price and handy location, but it’s probably better in the cooler months.

Site number 2, one adult Jeep grand Cherokee with 17 foot caravan. Great campsite in beautiful bushland setting. Very private. Excellent phone reception. Also excellent TV reception. As mentioned before, the driveway is very steep, but it is quite manageable, using your lowest gear. I’m camping here because of its close proximity to Belmont 16s club, which is no more than 10 minutes away. I’ll certainly be returning again. Site 2 is the go if you’re looking for a real bush setting along with privacy

Great weekend away! I took my son camping in our campervan. Location was perfect, we felt very comfortable being in our own bush pocket away from anyone. Even though we’re right in town. Stunning beaches with only a short drive away. 100% recommend it and will return to another trip away.

Very good campground, even in the wet as the floor has bark and stone ground at the tent site so it doesn't get too muddy. Firepit also is very good and available stick for starting it. Very close to town yet feels like your in a forest

Nice and private despite being in the middle of suburbia. Plenty of room for our 5m camper trailer and easy access to bush trails for dog walking.

Very secluded and yet so near to Newcastle I woke to birdsong and glimpses of Lake Macquarie through the trees .I also enjoyed the bush walk around the adjoining council reserve

Beautiful and peaceful camp site. Had a really relaxing time. Hidden in the bush at Floraville you didn’t realise you were still in the city of Newcastle. Great escape for a weekend to recharge.

Site 2 was secluded, shady and very. It had a council reserve witb trails at one end of the site. Perfect for the doggos to have a sniff around. It was a very hot day so the shade was welcome and so was the option to grab some extra water.

Rory’s instructions were super easy to follow, site was clean and tidy. Definitely bring your bug spray! Feels like your in the middle of the bush when your only on the edge of newy! Great spot

Great campsite with lots of privacy and shade. The host provided firewood, kindleing, table and chairs. There's also a few goats on the neighboring property. Close to lake macquarie for fishing. Overall a very nice site and worth the money

Nice flat ground for the roof top tent. Open site and firewood provided. Private and wouldn’t know you’re in someone’s backyard. Rained quite heavily and drainage on the site was good

Awesome and unsuspecting spot in the middle of suburbia by lake mac! We stayed on site 2, had plenty of room to spread out. Had cute fairy lights in the tree, fire pit area, and the fire blanket and fire extinguisher (in case of emergency) was a neat addition too that I've never seen at a hip camp before!! Directions were spot on, super easy to navigate. Cheers Rory for letting us stay at your amazing camp!
