Camping at Jila Campgrounds was an experience. The mountain-perched site with river frontage is perfect, lovely for kayaking or just unwinding by the water.
They provide toilets and showers, which makes things comfortable. The campground feels very safe, even for solo campers, and it’s pet-friendly so Kyoto was happy exploring.
One great thing: there’s no reception or mobile signal, which is ideal if you want to disconnect. Just make sure you save all your important notes offline before you arrive.
The owner was super helpful. When our car broke down, he helped us get it working again. That kind of support made a big difference.
A word of caution: during a short but heavy rain with strong wind, a nearby car was struck by a falling tree. It’s wise to camp a little distance from large trees if the weather turns.
Overall, I really like this place: mountain views, riverside calm, and a helpful owner. It’s about an hour from us, and we’d definitely go back.

Loved the location, the river was beautiful and really enjoyed the facilities. I personally think the drive in with a trailer on the back is a 4wd road, not just because it's steep and bumpy but my 2wd was too low. Once in we had a fantastic time and appreciated being allowed to use the neighbours drive to leave from. Thanks for having us!

I loved camping at Jila. The spot was super peaceful, surrounded by shady trees and a great view of the river which was a perfect place to have a dip. Kids had a ball. Toilets were surprisingly good. 10/10 would come back.

Great location, there was plenty of camping spaces scattered around. Less than 100m to the water where there was a great shallow sand bar but a deeper area also for swimming. Didn’t use the soccer pitch but was a cool addition. Lots of flies around so I’d bring more insect repellents next time, but I will absolutely be coming back

It’s a great place for everybody specially for kids. Plus points was the farm animals roaming around. Definitely worth it.

Plenty of space to pick a site without being crowded. We camped over a weekend.
Flushing toilets a real treat.
Kayaks on site was perfect for the kids.
River was incredible for the kids, especially since most is only knee deep.
They provide decent sticks for the fire pit, but if you can bring bigger pieces would recommend.

Very clean facilities.
Spectacular views and wildlife is plentiful. Enough space to spread out away from other campsites.
Plenty of flies and bindis if you don’t mind them
Then you will be in your element.

Lovely spot. Not too far away from Sydney but it feels far removed from the hustle and bustle of the city. The facilities are great for kids and the river is very safe for them and dogs. Great location if you dont want to travel too far. Lots of animals on site too. Kept our 6 year old entertained. We'll be back 🙂

Such a wonderful campsite... The river is glorious, the cows and sheep are beautiful to have around, and it's nice to have flushing toilets as a touch of luxury... So great to have little soccer field for the kiddies and a blow up slip and slide! Can't wait for our little one to be old enough to enjoy it! Would highly recommend!

Expected more for the high fee, the most expensive campsite I have booked . River touted as one of the main attractions- appeared fenced off for the most part and not enough water or flow to do anything substantial. Facilities at most average. Arrived, looked along the length of the property and left for a motel nearby.

Hi all it's a GREAT campaign experience the host is very welcoming kick back by the side of the river as the kids swim the day away then light up the camp fire 🔥 listening to the native birds there's lot's of spots to set up your camp flushing toilets cow's munching away and the farm dog is very friendly and loves to say hi highly recommend

Absolutely stunning campground hidden in the middle of the suburbs
So close to such a beautiful river. Lovely escape from the busy city life. With only the basics, plenty of grass and trees and the river to keep cool amazing little gem for all ages and to top it off its pet friendly for our furry friends

We loved our stay there. You can pick your spot along the river. Access to the river all along the sites, but steep bank, logs and stuff make it not as "easy", but totally doable, adds to the charm.
Thanks for the kayaks for a donation to Beyone Blue, which we did. There's 10 or so and 2 SUPs, so plenty. Invaluable family fun but also beautiful solo kayaking down the river.
Lots of dead trees to cut up, byo saw/axe.
1st day loos and running water not working but Phillip had it fixed asap for the next morning.
Washing up cold running water sink was great. Showers would be great but hey, you get what you get.
Awful rotting vegetable smell that the cows were walking around in as you drive down to the sites but you forget all about it once you're down.
I think if it had been raining continuously for days, a 2WD may struggle down/up to/from the sites, but we were fine.
Bring mossie repellent or lantern.
The price was a bit steep for our one family, but that's cos you can fit 20 on it. Price would prohibit small families from returning alone, so a different price structure would be welcome 🙂

We loved our stay at Jila campgrounds. The sites are very well maintained with good toilet facilities and kayak and sup available for a gold coin donations to have some fun in the beautiful river running along the property. The river is very nice for swimming and can be enjoyed by kids of all ages as it is very safe. The firepits were great too. The short drive to the sites can be a bit tricky on a 2WD but it's ok if you go slow. We did it in a Carnival and it was ok. We look forward to coming back and enjoy it again!

The campground itself was okay, but the toilets could definitely be better maintained — toilet rolls weren’t refilled regularly, which was inconvenient, also the solar lights in the toilet was not working. There also wasn’t a proper place to shower. I was on my period during my stay, and it was really difficult not being able to shower for two days. A few improvements to hygiene facilities would make a big difference.
On a positive note, the river was clean and enjoyable for all ages. My 2- and 4-year-olds had a great time playing safely in the ankle-deep water, while adults could swim and relax. The river was definitely a highlight of our stay. 4.5 out of 5 just because it has no shower place, but overall experience was great. Will definitely be back but please work on the shower place please.

The campsite was well spread out and the river was a great time! Convenient with the toilets and hire paddle board/kayaks if you’d like
Does not feel like you’re close to Sydney at all would definitely return! Make sure to bring floatie toys or a paddle board to get the most out of the river. Dog friendly is a great bonus too

Our family with young kids and small dogs loved our time there. The tents were nice and spacious, and we liked the provided linen. The toilets were modern and clean, and we enjoyed the large shared firepit in the middle. The highlight was spending the hot days down at the river - it had a lovely atmosphere and was shallow enough for the kids and dogs to wade through. It is a bit tricky to walk up and down the embankment, especially if you're carrying a toddler or baby. The road into the campground is a little rough for a sedan or typical car, but no issue for a SUV. Great option for a first-time family camping trip - we will be back!

Loved the wide open fields with plenty of room to camp, and lots of tree coverage, though the further back you go from the river the more slope there is on the ground which is tricky for tents. We were lucky and scored a great spot for our group close to the path to the river and under a fair amount of shade. The path down to the river is quite steep but it's short and once you're down there it's stunning. The river water was cool but not freezing and it was a nice mix of shallow and deeper areas for swimming. We spent hours down there each day! The available kayaks were awesome for the kids (gold coin donation for use). The toilets were kept clean and we only spotted a couple of cow pats as we set up the tent. We saw zero cows the whole weekend. I guess since we were there on the long weekend the owners might have kept the cows in while the site was quite busy. Couldn't find any of the free advertised firewood on site (probably due to busy long weekend) so we travelled 10 minutes into Richmond to purchase some. The road out of the campsite is very steep and we were worried with our heavy trailer whether we'd make it up there with just our AWD (not big 4WD) but it was actually fine. Lovely campground would go back!

We had a wonderful group camping trip to Jila Campground. With four families, we had plenty of room to spread out, let the kids muck around & not feel cramped close to other campers. The river was gorgeous & we all had a blast on the kayaks.
My only recommendation is to have low expectations for the toilets & unfortunately there was some awful smells from a stagnant pond.

The campground is absolutely spectacular! So many trees to provide shade, but with tons of beautiful ground to pitch a tent. It was perfect to create a small village for the four families we camped with. So much space that even on a long weekend with perfect weather we managed to set up right on the edge of the river. The river itself was also perfection. Shallow, sandy, slow moving. It was so fun to see the kids have so much autonomy, and they spent hours and hours in the mornings and afternoons on the free kayaks provided. Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Jila campground was such a beautiful campsite! We loved camping near the water and hearing all the birds in the morning with the glorious sunrise.
The river is crystal clear and the kids had a great time kayaking and paddle boarding along it. The campground and the amenities were very clean and I felt very safe.
I highly recommend this campground to everyone!!
