I’ve camped here twice now, once with a large group and then as a couple, and had a great time! It feels nicely remote while still being within a five minute drive of shops/cafe.
The creek is so lovely and Jessica and her partner were very helpful and accomodating. I recommend her delicious jams!
The general store in Federal had everything we needed, from gas bottles to yummy snacks.
Directions are straightforward and roads are signed. Lower cars can definitely get through but just fyi our friend’s car scraped the bottom so just something to consider. The weather was perfect when we stayed so can’t speak on the access after rainfall.
Will definitely be back!

Want to thank Jessica for being the perfect host. She was so warm and welcoming to our whole group. This place is the perfect value for money, gives you a great amount of privacy .She even gave us a tour of the land when we arrived and always reminded us she wasn’t too far away if we needed any assistance. Can’t wait to come back already.

We loved Jessica’s forest reserve, it is a beautiful spot and she has done a great job at preserving it. She was really communicative and lovely, taking us in on Xmas day and making sure we felt welcomed. We would recommend her place to anyone and would love to come back to this beautiful slice of heaven ☺️

Beautiful and serene site that feels so nicely secluded. Jessica and Eugene were absolutely lovely, helping us with an equipment problem we were having and generally giving us such a warm welcome. Had a lovely morning walking down to the river and hopping over the stones. Highly recommend if you want to feel wrapped up in nature amongst the chirping insects and whistling wind at night. 🌜🏕

Beautiful spot and super lovely host. It was a long weekend and there were other campers there but we had a lot of privacy. The owner helped us find a flat spot for our van and allowed us to collect firewood from around the property (there is lots around!) Our dog loved swimming in the river (a bit of an adventure to get down to it but so worth it- just maybe don’t attempt after a rain). We loved soaking in the serenity and watching the stars.

Jessica was lovely, come and collected us and took us onto property. Abundance of fire wood at hand. Would recommend a mow and whipper snip. In time adding some more facilities as in portable shower toilet block. Charging the same as a fully facilitated venue. Great spot at creek and running very private and secluded.

Beautiful camp site! We stayed for the whole long weekend. Back to basics, phone reception for Telstra 1 bar enough to get a text. Lots of space and lots of fun to be had. Will be returning for next trip. Camp sites were large and enough space for everyone. Hosts were accommodating and friendly.

Field of Dreams was just as the name says. You drive in to a little piece of paradise tucked away from the rest of the world. I loved my time here, so private and secluded. Jessica and Eugene were the greatest, helpful and accommodating hosts, the river was beautiful and my camp was divine. Mid week, all to myself!
I would definitely recommend and will definitely be back if I need a place near Byron but a private place. THANKS J&E

Upon booking, we expected to be allocated the specific site we selected—particularly as pricing varied between locations. However, upon arrival, we were informed that camping was on a first in best dressed basis, and we were left to find any remaining flat ground- which was also made difficult as the only check in times were 8:30am and 5:30pm. The site was quite muddy, and many areas were not accessible for our friend’s two-wheel drive vehicle. Please be aware when booking there is a lack in privacy if you do not snatch up one of the more quiet spots, whereas the rest is very open. The 2km access road was steep in parts and would be extremely difficult to navigate in wet conditions with a 2WD. Overall, the property layout and rules were not clearly communicated, and unfortunately, we do not plan to return.

Beautiful setting for a 4WD stay, but access isn’t easy — the road in is rough and we got lost, as Jess wasn’t able to see that we’d lost her. Check-in times were strict with limited flexibility. There was a noisy group and barking dogs through the night, which made sleep difficult. It was Easter, so it may be quieter at other times of year. A good option for those with a 4WD looking for a rustic and social experience.

We had a lovely weekend. Jessica was the kind hostbyou can expect - caring and friendly as they come.
We had the whole place for ourselves so we let the dogs off the leash and enjoyed the tranquility of the woods. Camp fire, lazy afternoons and family bonding - we got what we came for. And we shall return with the Spring.
Tips for other hipcampers:
The river is lovely but yhe current after heavy rains could make is a bit dangerous.
The access to the site is not for those urban sedans (we have a AWD SUV and it was fine)
Nearest wollies is 20 km away - arrive prepared

Jessica met up with us at the arranged location on time. they guided us into the campsite with ease. One of us had a prius and if you know how to take the right lines its not that bad to get in with a 2wd as long as you're confident and know what you are doing.
The stay was lovely and relaxing. Plenty of whip birds and other wildlife to see and listen, the river was a short walk from where we were staying and quite refreshing. we had one little issue with a tree that had fallen on the way out but was easily cleary with a chansaw we had. Would definetly come back to stay here again

Lovely open space, we were fortunate to have the place to ourselves, I can see a group camp together as friends or family would be awesome, we had a lovely swim in the river, the road is a bit washed out due to rain and the concrete tracks exposed so careful driving was needed with our 4WD.

Jessica was a kind host. The creek was so close and a nice stop for a dip too. However, our car really struggled with the drive in. It bottom out, scraped and the passengers had to get out of the car once to be able to get over a bump. I don't think I'd stay again unless I had a 4WD. We were quite stressed it would rain and we'd never get out.

A few things made this Hipcamp a bit lacklustre. Firstly, we were required to arrive at the Federal Store at a specific time (6pm) where Jessica was a no show. There was no reception so fortunately we were able to get onto the general store wifi to sort it out. The circumstances were out of her control but we didn’t appreciate how it was handled. Secondly, the entry to the property is not good for low clearance cars. We did it in a Mazda 6 but it dragged the bottom throughout a lot of it. If you like your 2WD car be wary it’s at risk of being damaged. Finally, while the property is expansive there’s not too many flat laying sites leading to some sites being in closer proximity than you’d expect. You’ll share your bathroom visits with lots of spiders but that’s ok, it’s in a beautiful jungle environment with a gorgeous creek. Lots of potential for the host if these issues are addressed.

Jessica and her partner met us upon arrival and gave us a tour of the property which was incredibly helpful. They were very flexible with us needing to change arrival times and answering any questions we had. The site was wonderful - plenty of space to set up the area the way you want to, the fire pit was easy to use, the toilet worked great, and the short walk down to the creek was lovely - one of my friends went multiple times because the water was so nice. Amazing view of the night sky as well. The site is so close to other places as well ie Byron and Brunswick Heads so day trips were too easy.

Jessica was a great host! She came and met us to lead us into the campsite. Was a shame we could only check in late when it was dark but it's in a great location, close to Minyon Falls!

We camped in swags and a tent in an idyllic site with plenty of shade, lots of space and a symphony of bird song to wake us each morning. We refreshed ourselves and played in the creek, and our dog enjoyed herself to exhaustion each day! Going unplugged for 3 days was blissful. Jessica was super helpful leading up to our stay and made everything so easy while we were there, providing just enough support and space. We'll be back!

I have been to Jessica’s place a few times now and always love staying there, the creek is huge and great for cooling off in warm weather and her property has a really nice rainforesty feel with multiple sites to chose from. She also sells lovely jams and butters. Would highly recommend. (Maybe just bring mosquito repellent if you come after rain). I’ll be back soon, thanks Jessica!

I actually don't want to leave a review because I want to keep this place secret...but Jess is such a great host and the location so epic that it deserves to be shared. Beautiful off grid camping nestled in the Byron Bay hinterlands. There are many sites to choose from, each extremely peaceful and relaxing, with the only noise being from birdsong. There is a lovely creek where you can relax on the property.
Jessica is a lovely lady, who is full of knowledge and deep love for the land which she is happy to share.
