Place was great plenty of areas to camp and Karen was more than accommodating, horses were very friendly as after we set up camp we were soon surrounded by them all. Would definitely stay again in the future.

A nice getaway with the family. There is so much space you’ll not even hear other campers.
We stayed 2 nights which would be max for us with kids. They are 7 and 5 and not much for them to do but that didn’t stop us wandering around and playing cards & board games.
They loved the horses which hang out with you at camp.
If you are looking for a quiet couple of days passing through I would highly recommend

The property has great views, and the kids really enjoyed the games area, especially the ping pong table. They also loved riding the bikes down the hill, which was a highlight of the stay.
Unfortunately, there were some significant issues. On the first night, I was asked if it would be okay for us not to shower due to the host potentially running out of water. I explained that I would need a quick shower but was advised that I would most likely run out of water during it. The following day, after returning to the property after midday, I asked again about the water and was told there was still none available. I made it clear that if I wanted to camp, I would have booked a campground — I specifically paid for a room with amenities.
Additionally, on both mornings we woke up to a strong smell of marijuana in or around the room, which is not appropriate or ideal when travelling with two 11-year-old children.
On a positive note, the room itself was comfortable. However, the lack of basic amenities and the environment made the stay disappointing overall.

We had a great time camping in this beautiful part of northern NSW. The hosts were very helpful when we arrived and the animals on the site were very friendly. This camp-site is also very close to the local town which made things even easier. We would happily stay there again.

Lovely location,, lovely scenery with lots of space to choose from. lots of horses to pat! Paddling in the pond with the kayak was great. Host was lovely! I’ll definitely be back great value.

My family and I stayed 2 nights at Jalum. We found the location very convenient As It is close proximity to Northern Rivers Trail Ride and Hastings Point Postville Cabarita Beaches. There are a number of horses and even an Alpaca which roam free around the property. Most seem friendly to approach albeit mischievous. Note they will enter your campsite if left open and unattended. The Moo Moo Rodhouse and Victory Hotel is less than 5 minutes from Jalum and both have decent food offerings. There is even an inground pool free to use for patrons of the hotel. Thank you Karen for opening up your property to Campers.

This was my very first camping experience, and it couldn’t have been better. The place is absolutely magical, surrounded by so much greenery and nature. The horses are beautiful and made the experience even more special. Karen was incredibly welcoming and kind, which made me feel comfortable from the moment I arrived. I truly loved my time here and would definitely come back.

Really pleasant stay. The horses and other animals were friendly and lovely to watch roaming around. Karen the hoast was welcoming and helpful with local information.

My husband stayed here in December with our son. We chose this place because it was advertised as a fishing spot / fishing farm, however there was no fishing available at all
The place itself is beautiful and very peaceful, and Karen was super helpful and kind, which we really appreciated.
One thing I’d like to mention for families: there is a bull on the property. We were told it was “just a baby,” but it scared our son a few times. For some people this might be fun or interesting, but it would be much better to clearly mention this in the description in advance, especially for those staying with children.
Overall, a lovely location, but the listing description could be more accurate to help guests know what to expect.

We totally loved our stay at Karen's place. The location is beautifully rural but still only 15 minutes from the beach. The accommodation is comfortable and the whole space feels very inviting. Karen and her helper are great hosts, and chatting with them enhanced our stay even more. A truly wonderful stay and hope to visit again :)

Beautiful land with the most adorable little ponies and horses. Definitely recommend stopping by (as well as rocking up with at least a little bit of daylight left - host was very accommodating but since you can park anywhere and there are a few small water bodies, it's better to arrive before night fall).

Overall, we had an unique experience for our first-time camping. However, some rules are pretty strict for public dining area, such as we cannot use our portable stove in the public dining area, or we somewhat have to leave the public dining area at 10 or 11 PM, so they can turn off the power. Moreover, the pond where we can fish is not really clean and clear.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Karen’s Hipcamp. We were self contained & camped up in the top area. We had an amazing view of the farm, dams & would watch the horses grazing each afternoon. The area was lush, quiet & peaceful and was only a short drive to beaches, shops & hotels. The horses on the farm were very friendly & we loved patting them. Mooball was only a 5 min drive away & there was a family friendly pub (with pool) and the Rail trail bike track was an added bonus. We look forward to returning here with family/friends soon and highly recommend this hipcamp. Thank you Karen

We stayed 2 nights in the studio, it was clean, quiet and comfortable and had everything we needed. There is a separate self contained kitchen set amongst a lovely garden. Would definitely stay again.

It’s not even a camping, it was so scary that we couldn’t spend the night
She told me it was fully booked but there was no one, no light just a random lama and horses
Now I understand why it’s not listed on google maps

We stayed for 2x nights in a tent. Beautiful spot, short drive to Potsville for swimming. The view over the farm is fantastic, and extra special having the horses free roaming amoung the tents, they were so friendly and easy to pat. Daughters loved it. Pretty open and grassy so bring a canape if you want some shade.

You just have to check this hipcamp for yourself.
The very kind host , Karen is a beautiful free spirit & so so accommodating.
My wife & I stayed in the very comfy room at the end of Karen's private residence where we had our own newly renovated bathroom with soft white towels, soaps , shampoo etc...which was fabulous....also freshly cut gardenias on beside was a very nice touch.
Access to the camp kitchen with full facilities & a living area/rec room was briiliant & sure makes for a great stay.
Karen's surrounding garden was really beautiful...a long chat hanging over the front rail during our garden tour with Karen was delightful.
Six campsites are available surrounding the ex- fish farm dams where Karen's horses & alpaca roam freely...
Jalum is super relaxing...just up the road from Mooball where you'll find a beaut pub , Moo Moo Roadhouse for fabulous food , drinks & souvenirs
Also popular there at Mooball is the rail trail with E bikes for hire.
We enjoyed a gorgeous country drive with lush green hills crossing the NSW/QLD border from Murwillumbah through to Nerang...the amazing Beechmont Tavern was packed with punters to be entertained by back to back bands for a fun Saturday arvo/night...
Lots to do in the area...even an old old railway tunnel to see on nearby Hulls Road to the Sth & just up the road to the Nth of Jalum on Pottsville Road is The Sleepy Barn where you can chill with a morning coffee or an evening cocktail along with delicious snacks/meals.

What a lovely site, I'd recommend it to everyone. The horses were a lovely treat and the provision of water and other amenities makes it an easy day out. The property is large enough so you could feel secluded but there are usually other campers nearby.

We loved camping at Jalum. Karen was very welcoming and she has a beautiful property. For us it was perfect as we don’t enjoy crowded camping. Her property is close to the ocean and the Mooball Rail trail. If you don’t like horses then it might not be the place for you as you camp in the paddock and the horses roam and stay in close proximity to you, but for us it was perfect. Being self sufficient works well at this venue, but Karen does offer a shower and toilet for campers to use. It is a bit of a walk up a hill to the facilities but most drive.
We will be back for another visit 😊

This is hands down the best camping spot we've ever stayed at! We booked for 2 nights and ended up staying for 6 because we didn't want to leave!
The farm is so beautiful and peaceful, and Karen is amazing, so warm and welcoming and an absolute delight to chat with!
The property is stunning, located off a quiet road, with your pick of gorgeous campsites, lots of lovely trees and dams, and friendly horses who wander through your camp and even take a nap right next to you! The campsites are limited to ensure that you have a wonderfully quiet time, and the bathroom is absolutely beautiful with a lovely hot shower, and easily accessible.
We had a fire every night and counted the stars listening to the frog serenades from the dams, and woke up to beautiful sunrises and birdies chirping and made our camp coffee while the horses munched on grass all around us. You can walk around barefoot in comfort and everything is immaculately maintained.
This little piece of paradise is just outside of Mooball, and the location is amazing, the endless beach is a short drive away with barely anyone for miles, pop into Pottsville for a yummy brekkie, Byron Bay is an easy drive away, and do yourself a huge favour and do the drive from Murwillumbah through Numinbah to Nerang, it's absolutely spectacular. Also don't miss the gelato at Tweed Valley Whey, it's to die for!
We can't wait to come back and honestly we've never enjoyed a camping holiday as much as this one! Thank you so much Karen!
