Wilga Downs is a working cattle and sheep farm located in the picturesque Blue Mountains high-country region of Oberon. Set on 230 acres at 1200m altitude, Wilga Downs sits privately, in an elevated position taking in expansive views across the rolling hills of the Oberon Plateau. On a clear day, mountains almost 50km north come into view. The property incorporates open fields and native woodlands, and adjoins the Abercrombie State Forest, a 1750 acre sustainable pine plantation, once part of the original station. Besides the livestock, wildlife includes a variety of bird species, kangaroos, wombats, possums, even wild deer. Famous for its sub-alpine climate with four distinct seasons, the Oberon region lures travellers keen to experience the vibrant bursts of colour in spring and autumn, the mild days and cool nights of summer, and the beauty and magic of the frosts and snowfalls in winter. Wilga Downs is conveniently located 15 minutes from the village of Oberon, the famed Mayfield Gardens and Lake Oberon; 30 minutes from Jenolan Caves; 45 minutes from Bathurst; an hour from Blackheath; and under three hours from Sydney CBD. The area boasts activities to suit everyone: from trout fishing and cave tours to wine tasting and mushroom hunting, from horseback riding to 4x4 and quadbike tours... and that's just to name a few.
