Escape to Greengates, a peaceful former dairy farm in Bexhill in the heart of the Northern Rivers. Set across approximately 240 acres of open paddocks, creeks and established farmland, Greengates offers plenty of room to spread out and enjoy genuine rural camping without being packed in beside other campers. This is a simple, relaxed Hipcamp designed for self-contained campers who value space, privacy and freedom. Choose from our spacious Lagoon Paddock, where you can select your own place to set up, or our Powered Dairy Site beside the old dairy for campers wanting access to electricity. Dogs are very welcome at Greengates and may be off leash, provided they remain under effective control and are respectful of other guests, livestock and wildlife. If your dog loves having room to sniff, explore and stretch its legs, we think they’ll enjoy Greengates as much as you do. Spend your days wandering the property, relaxing beside the creek, exploring the farm or simply sitting back at camp while your dog enjoys some freedom. Contained campfires are welcome when conditions and local fire restrictions allow, and guests are welcome to collect suitable fallen timber from around the property for their fire. Despite the peaceful rural setting, Greengates is well positioned for exploring the Northern Rivers, with Lismore, Ballina, Byron Bay and surrounding villages all within easy driving distance. Please note: Greengates is a self-contained camping property. There are no toilets, showers or potable water, so guests must bring everything they require with them. Grey water can be released directly onto the ground, and during dry weather we actually encourage it — the grass appreciates the extra drink! If your idea of camping is lots of space, a fire at night, the dog roaming nearby and no rows of caravans packed around you, Greengates was made for you.

Set yourself up wherever you feel most comfortable in our spacious Lagoon Paddock. There are no marked-out little caravan-park-style sites here. The idea is to give campers room to spread out, choose a suitable spot and enjoy the peace of the farm. The paddock is ideal for caravans, motorhomes, camper trailers, campervans and tents, provided guests are fully self-contained. Dogs are welcome off leash while under effective control, making this a particularly good option for travellers who find it difficult to find genuinely dog-friendly camping. Contained campfires are welcome when fire restrictions permit. A fire drum is provided, and suitable fallen timber may be collected from around the property. What to expect: * Large grassy paddock * Plenty of space between campers * Off-leash dogs permitted under effective control * Campfires permitted when conditions allow * Creek and rural farm surroundings * No power * No potable water * No toilet or shower facilities * Leave No Trace camping Grey water can be released directly onto the ground, and during dry weather we actually encourage it — the grass appreciates the extra drink! Stay beside the old dairy on a genuine former Northern Rivers dairy farm. This is Greengates’ powered campsite and is ideal for a motorhome, caravan or campervan wanting the convenience of electricity while still enjoying the space and tranquillity of the property. Set up near the old dairy shed, roll out your awning, put the chairs out and enjoy a quiet rural stay surrounded by the farm. Dogs are welcome and may be off leash while under effective control. Contained campfires are permitted when local restrictions allow. Wonderful grassy paddock 15 min out of Lismore. David is an excellent host. I bought some eggs from him on my booking. I used this space as home base for a whole week to see the surounding area. Very peaceful and easy to find. Thanks David!

We had a fantastic stay at HiCamp. It’s a quiet, open area with a great-sized fire pit and a lovely, friendly host. The farm-fresh eggs are definitely worth the add-on ! Emma was super responsive and easy to deal with. We’d happily stay again!

We love the open space, we camped right next to the lagoon. There was a big fire pit with some wood supplied and our dog was free to roam off lead. If you are looking for a quiet spot not too far from Ballina, we would highly recommend. David and his daughter were super helpful, with David meeting us on arrival and guiding us down to our camp spot. If we are ever in the area again we will be back.

Nice and private, wide open spaces. It is a grazing paddock so do expect some mud pies and tuffed grass, probably wouldn’t sleep with a tent on the ground but we had a lovely night in our swag on some cots. Our site’s track had a bit of mud on the way in, just a bit of 4wd fun nothing crazy. David is lovely, met us at the front gate and pointed out the way. Emma was responsive and polite. No fuss for a last minute booking. But be sure to arrive before dark.

We enjoyed our stay three nights was a perfect amount of time for us. Very reasonable priced. Communication by text is a positive process. Our above ground fire pit was welcomed and no fire bands in place for our stay.
