Clarence River Wilderness Lodge offers families affordable camping within this pristine wilderness area. The Clarence River Wilderness Lodge operates based on environmentally sustainable principles. These 5 metre deluxe bell tents are fabulously roomy. At 12 feet high in the centre, there's plenty of standing room, they provide a palatial pad for two. A Peaceful Escape into Nature
Cabin- Self Contained (6 berth)
Our stay at Clarence River Wilderness Retreat was absolutely beautiful. The property is so remote and serene that you truly feel like the only people in the world. The river and surrounding nature are breathtaking — the perfect place to slow down and reconnect. Living simply for the weekend was so peaceful and grounding. We had everything we needed; the off-grid amenities were fantastic and thoughtfully set up. We spent our days playing cards, strumming guitar by the fire, watching an incredible storm roll in at night, and soaking up the sunshine the next day while canoeing and relaxing by the river. A special mention to Sharon, one of the owners, who was so friendly, welcoming, and proud of her beautiful property. Hearing her stories about her family and the land made the experience even more special. We felt completely safe, comfortable, and cared for during our stay. If you’re looking for a place to truly unwind, disconnect, and immerse yourself in nature — this is it.

The entire property is fastidiously maintained . The tree huts were very comfortable and cool despite a few hot hours outside , affording an amazing view of the mighty Clarence . The camp kitchen was well stocked with pots pans and utensils, and the presence of a nice electric refrigerator was particularly welcome.

Bell Tents
You could not ask for a better set up than these bell tents. Set on soft grass, looking out onto a beautiful river and ridge, surrounded by greenery, trees and birdsong. Plus an incredibly comfortable bed and roomy interior, with gorgeous wooden side tables. Clarence River Wilderness Lodge in general is a must do. Switch off and enjoy! Plus, Sharon and Steve are lovely and experienced hosts - always love having a yarn with them :)

A solid camp ground. The camp sites, location, and amenities are great and all well looked after. The backstory to the property was awesome to read. Stephen and Sharon have done a great job with everything. ***Make sure you read the book about the history of the place. 1 is located at each camp kitchen***. I still can't believe the council never tightened the bolts on the bridge because the water was too cold! The rapids are great to bask in with kids and listen to at night when sleeping. Toilets were well looked after and the showers were hot! We found the camp grounds were well spaced apart and private. The fire pits and hot plates worked a treat. The only feedback would be the walking tracks, they're over grown and not passable with children. The whole site is really well managed and peaceful. We will be back! ***Take plenty of drinking water***

Had a 3 night stay here at CRWL, been looking at heading to Paddy’s Flat to see the tank traps and picked here as a destination. Hidden away in its own valley, campsites are massive with river access all along. Kayaks and canoes available to use and wildlife galore.

The photos do not do this place justice! This spot is so magical and so thought through, from running rain water to environment friendly toilet paper! They have thought of everything. I did not want to leave! We camped on the flat river spot camp sites and it did not disappoint! Infact we thought this was the best spot for everything!! So happy and can't wait to come back! Thanks for having us ❤️

I would recommend and definitely go back to CRWL! The road in and out was a bit bumpy but made it with my 2WD ok. Beautiful spot, very quiet and friendly host Steve. Would specifically recommend Cascades or further along to be close to the sound of rushing water 😀

We had a great 2night stay camping at the lodge. Steve and Sharon were very welcoming host. The property was amazing with well maintained spacious sites along the Clarence River. Toilets within walking distance to every campsite and also hot showers. Firewood and ice is available at the office which is very convenient. Will definitely put it on the list for a return trip

I absolutely love Clarence river wilderness lodge. It’s so beautiful and peaceful and all the campsites are amazing but we especially love the remote camps. We have been here 4 times already and are planning on a lot more visits. The owners are very lovely.

My partner and I stayed for three nights recently and it was absolutely superb. Recent rain meant the river was a bit higher, but the grounds were green and lush and maintained to a really high standard. All of the amenities were clean and working, and the sites themselves were the best I’ve seen in a while in terms of space, privacy and maintenance. Sharon was incredibly helpful during our stay with recommendations on activities and we would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone in the future (in fact I already have)

Such a fantastic campsite. The amenities were some of the best ones we’ve had on other camping trips. And sites were really well sized, especially for our large group of 8 adults with 4 cars. We had plenty of room to space out our 5 tents, especially for the price. The owners were lovely offering fire wood and ice to purchase on arrival which was very convenient for our multi day stay. They offered free canoes which was a great edition to fill our days. We felt like we were in the middle of no where with the scenery and the quiet, which is exactly what we wanted.

Great place to stay! Camping areas are well maintained with heaps of site options. Stayed at the rapids and it was very quiet with great views of the river. River access is right near the rapids campsite. Good camp kitchen with fridge and bbq, hot showers also available. Sharon is a great host and always good to talk to. Have a read of the Clarence River Wildernoss Lodge History book located in the camp kitchen near the rapids campsite.

Excellent location right next to the river with ample room to set up and camp away from others. Hot showers definitely came in handy and toilets are close by. The river is so beautiful and a great place to unwind. Would definitely recommend.

My family loved our camping experience at Clarence river wilderness lodge. The hosts were very friendly always stopping for a chat. You really do feel like you’re in the wilderness when camping in the remote sites, very private with lots of room to relax. Great hot showers a short walk from our site. Just be careful on the 7km track in as there isn’t many places to pass another vehicle if someone was coming the other direction.
