What an amazing spot! The hosts are both lovely and I’d recommend this spot to anyone. The amenities are great and well maintained. A must go if ya are thinking of sone time in nature.

We recently stayed at this incredible campsite and was genuinely impressed! The amenities were far beyond what we expected—clean facilities with a hot shower, which felt amazing after a long day of exploring. The site itself is thoughtfully laid out with tracks running through the property, perfect for short hikes or morning strolls to take in the peaceful surroundings.
What made the experience truly special were the hosts—they were absolutely lovely, welcoming, and full of great local tips, they genuinely care about creating a great experience for their guests. Their warmth added so much to the overall vibe of the place.

Drongo Dell is a serene campsite with stunning views of the water. So many fun hiking trails and lots to explore, it overall was a lovely stay!
Merryl is an outstanding host, ensuring we had all we need with water and firewood.
Highly recommend and will likely come back.

We stayed at the Platypus Leap site and it was a great location with a beautiful view. Merryl and Alister were amazing hosts, helping us carry our camping gear down to our site (as I was in my little car)! Amenities were also perfect - it’s not often you get a hot shower when camping! Highly recommend - thanks for a great stay.

Unforgettable Nymboida Getaway!
Our stay at Nymboida was incredible! Merryl was an amazing host, and the pristine river made for the perfect escape. The highlight? Spotting a platypus and two kingfishers—pure magic! The kids felt so safe, and the canoe adventure was unforgettable. Can’t wait to go back—this time, just with the boys! 😜 Highly recommend!

camping along the river was a lovely experience. the area is completely secluded and peaceful.
the river is absolutely stunning, the water is clear and easy to swim and walk in.
the campsites are great, with water and a firepit, everything one needs to enjoy the day. the bathrooms are also very well maintained and it actually has a hot shower which is an unexpected but welcomed bonus.

Merryl & Alister have created such a lovely place for guests to enjoy the nymboida river from a camping experience with the luxuries of a hot shower and toilets. Their genuine care for the environment and visitor experience. We appreciated all the quirky signage and the fire wood too. Will be back again for sure :)

We loved the site, especially our lovely hosts Alaistair and Merryl, who were so considerate to lend us additional camping gear. The amenities were good. Overall, we had an enjoyable stay.

My group booked Eagles Nest and Myrtle Terrace for the Easter long weekend and couldn't ask for a better spot, they are the perfect fit if you have a group of 6-10 people with around 4 vehicles. The river entrance has a perfect spot for small kids and then opens up to a much larger wider and deeper section. We used the the Kayaks that were made available The amenities block is probably the best I've ever seen for Hip Camp. And Marlene and Alistair are very welcoming. We definitely be back

Can’t recommend this place enough, 3rd visit in 6 months, camp sites are amazing with fresh rainwater and firewood supplied to your camp, table and tap on each site and the amenities block is great, awesome shower and the composting toilets are second to none, clean and odour free.

We think this would be a great place to camp in winter, They have spent a lot of time on the very good facilities, and even left a handbook with the local walks and things to do for you to read in the shower block. They also leave Kayaks for you to use in the river.
We did find it very hard to relax though with the deafening noise from the cicadas from dawn to dusk which only became bearable when it rained. There is obviously nothing the hosts can do to control this though! Maybe bring earplugs (like we did) if you are camping in summer.

We loved camping at Merryl's and Alastair's land. The camp site is very close to the Nymboida river. The amenities (hot shower and composting toilets) are very good, with a water tap, fire pit, firewood, bench and table at each site. There are also kayaks, tubes and life jackets for the guests to use on the river. We would definitely come back in the cooler months, when the cicadas are quiet. During summer months the cicadas can be loud (but thanks to Merryl's warning, we came prepared with ear plugs). Also bring insect repellent as the March flies can be quite annoying. Despite all these, we enjoyed our stay and spent a lot of time cooling in the river. Thanks Merryl and Alastair for your hospitality. Till we meet again. Angela and Robert

We loved staying at Black Mountain and the Platypus site was private and had a great view of the river. The toilets and shower were clear and the hot water was great. We didn't get a chance to paddle on the river but there are sit-ins available. Access to the lower camp sites is 4wd only but there is an upper site for camper vans etc. Merryl and Alastair were great hosts... we highly recommend Black Mountain and will be back!

I loved my time camping on Nymboida’s black mountain, Merryl & Alastair,s land is a beautiful example of what the area has to offer, with one of the loveliest parts of the river to explore surrounded by some enchanting mountains trails.
Their hospitality was second to none, I can’t wait to bring my family back for another stay.

What an amazing piece of paradise, Merryl and Alistair love their land and it shows. The sites were large and all had a magical view of the Nymbodia River. Amenities were great with composting toilets and a hot shower. We went canoeing and swimming most days and the conservation status on the property made for wild bush walks with lots of animal life. The very steep drive to the sites was a little hairy for an inexperienced 4WDer like myself but once set up, you don't want to leave. We can't wait to get back there.

Excellent directions to the camp. We stayed at Drongo's Dell. What a peaceful spot looking out over the river. The camp site was grassed and had a tap - and there was a hot shower at a nicely appointed amenities block a little up the hill. The river level was low but it was still possible to do some kayaking on the beautiful Nymboida. Alister and Meryl were kindly, helpful and happy to answer questions about their lovely property.

Black Mountain camping is great for an off-grid nature experience with the luxury of sparkling amenities. We loved that the Drongo Dell site was so close to the river with easy access to toilet. The walking trails through rain forest are a highlight, as is the abundance of wildlife. Merryl and Alistair are welcoming and very helpful. They take great care of the flora & fauna, and us humans too.

What absolutely amazing place to stay.
It was so peaceful everything was so well presented and maintained.
You must like isolation as there is no phone service.
Merryl the host was wonderful so helpful from when we made our booking and even allowed us to check in early.
I would recommend the ant shack to anyone who loves getting away from civilisation.
Everything was supplied except food, clean tidy.

The Ant Shack was a fantastic experience. It is a very well equipped 2 room shack, and a good set-up for a couple or a family to stay with everything you need including linen and towels. It is nestled in the bush on a beautiful and remote property with the Nymboida River flowing past just down the hill. Toilets and a hot shower are just up the hill. Merryl and Alistair are excellent hosts and we enjoyed chatting with them about their property and all the work they have done on it. Floating in the river on tubes at dusk was just perfect.

The ant shack was stunning. It overlooks beautiful country and the River. We were met by merryl who guided us to the cabin. They have thought of everything from newspapers and firewwod for the campfire, solar energy to run a fridge and fan, and even an array of camplights, mosquito coils and repellent. All the utensils are available you literally just turn up and relax. Merryls commitment to conservation and ensuring the environment is preserved is a much appreciated value and our time spent at the cabin reflected her hard work.
