Great little spot in Mendooran

Black Gate Unpowered Camping
We spent 3 days here and it was lovely! The amenities including a shower were very clean and tidy, with plenty of hot water (just need to move the cute little frogs along before use). Hosts are very friendly and accommodating. Make sure you ask them for a tasting at the distillery while you’re there. There’s a free camp down the road, but this farm is ideal if you want a little more privacy and security.

Great spot for a quick overnight camp. The toilets and shower were nice and clean. We were the only ones there so it was nice and quiet. We used the bbq in the camp kitchen for a quick cook up, which was handy. We’ll have to come back again when we have more time! Communication was excellent

I stayed at the Black Gate Distillery camp ground after stopping by for a rum and whiskey tasting.
I can't recommend the tasting enough. Genise ran me through a tasting of the available spirits, giving a good explanation of each sample.
Then, Brian took me into the distillery to see the inner workings. His passion and enthusiasm was obvious. He gave me tastings of several of the spirits in the barrels while explaining the process. In fact, I had to tell him that my taste buds had had enough as he was happy to keep going.
I was the only person at the camp ground, so it was difficult to rate it. Firewood was supplied, but it was a waste lighting a fire for myself, so I didn't.
The amenities were very good - clean, hot showers. There was a BBQ available, but I didn't use it.

Genise was very responsive and helpful in the booking and lead up to our stay at the Black Gate Distillery, and Brian was there to help us out on arrival. The amenities were in great condition, and the distillery and surrounds were very interesting to camp amongst. We enjoyed having a campfire, and enjoyed our stay in general. Thank you.

We had a fantastic stay. It was great to find the amenities clean, tidy and with hot water. The site was flat and we had a decent camp fire pit right next to where we set up. We pre- booked into a distillery tour and spent our time with Genise, who was the perfect host. We learnt the ins and outs of the distillery, how they came to be in the industry and had a fabulous time tasting the excellent quality whisky and rum. Included was a platter with the most delicious locally produced cheese. Definitely worth a visit. One tip is camp towards the rear of the site as there can be a bit of road noise in the morning. But that did not bother us at all.

Location was great, facilities were immaculate and the added bonus of having the distillery on site to participate in a tasting was a fun addition to our trip! Genise & Brian thanks so much for having us, it was such a wonderful experience and your hospitality was spectacular!

Great overnight stop. Genise met us on arrival and made us feel most welcome. The shower and toilet were lovely and clean, perfect after a day of travelling. This camp has everything you need.

Camping at Black Gate Distillery was such a great experience! It’s the perfect spot to take a break if you’re riding the Central West Cycle Trail. The campsite is spacious and peaceful, and the hosts are super friendly. Definitely worth stopping here to recharge and enjoy the beautiful countryside!

Great spot, plenty of flat sites, clean amenities with bonus cute frogs. :) Quiet when I was there but looks like it would be great fun when the bbq and whisky cellar are open too. Would stay again.

A warm welcome on a cold day . Good toilet and shower which were not really expected . I would recommend for a group or family but perhaps not for single woman as I felt slightly exposed to road

I cannot recommend Black Gate Distillery enough. Genise and Brian are incredibly welcoming and know so much about Whisky and Rum. Be sure to do a tasting. It is honestly so worth it. There’s nowhere else in the world you will get an experience quite like Black Gate Distillery

A lovely property with nice views. There was plenty of room to throw the frizbie for the dog. Both of us and the dog were made to feel very welcome by Genise and Brian who were the absolute best hosts and just the loveliest of people. Toilets and hot showers made our two night stay very comfortable. Mornings were a chilly three degrees but the mist just made for some great photos. Then there was the Black Gate distillery tour and tasting..Wow that was something else. Thank you Genise and Brian we had a fantastic time and would recommend BLACK GATE DISTILLERY camping to absolutely everyone.

We had an amazing long weekend! Genise and Brian are both very friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. A nice clean space to stay! Highly recommended, and you absolutely should do the tasting!

My partner and I camped here for the Easter long weekend. Genise was a great host; very friendly and knowledgeable about the local area. The camping area is flat with some shade from trees. We were allowed small fires near our camp site during our stay. The toilets and shower were a very welcome addition. There is an undercover kitchen area you can use with a BBQ Genise is happy for you to borrow. Genise will open up the distillery for a tour and tasting whenever suits! We really enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it.

What a great place to stay. Nice, clean flushing toilets and a hot shower. Only limited numbers allowed. Easter long weekend only had four couples. So much space and privacy. And to top it off, you can do whiskey and rum tasting on site at the distillery. It also has a bar. Genise the host, is so nice and helpful too. What more could you ask for…

Love this campsite!! Shower and toilet facilities available, very secure to setup and go explore the beautiful region. Genise extremely helpful and greets on arrival. Overall the campsite ticks all the boxes, it's clean, the facilities are clean, campfires are allowed as long as they are contained, it's secure, they also make rum and whisky!!!
Highly recommended!!! I will definitely be returning!!!

We loved camping here! Who wouldn’t love being able to have a Whiskey tasting (or G&T or two in my case) and walk to your bed for the night. Owners were great to have a chat with and very knowledgeable on the area and the distillery business. Peaceful location, no noise from generators or crowds of campers made for a great rest. Bathroom is very neat and tidy with a hot shower. Highly recommend this Hipcamp!
