Our 3rd stay certainly did not disappoint! Beautiful farm with a lovely host family. Evenings by the camp fire and mornings waking up to the cows. Our kids loved going for walks and this hipcamp is a great peaceful base for exploring Stanthorpe.

We absolutely loved this camp site! The perfect escape from the city grind. We're all fairly rough campers so the facilities were all we needed. It was just us, and a few critters, and the stars. What a treat, seeing as it was easter weekend and all the other sites and the NP were a noisy mess of people. We really liked the quietness, the view and the firepit. It was easy enough to find, with a couple of gates to get through, an easy 2wd dirt road to access & a simple outhouse. Recommend bug spray as I had a couple of ticks attach, but was left alone once I sprayed myself.

We enjoyed 2 nights at Banksia Springs using it as a base to explore the Stanthorpe region. Steven was a great host providing lots of information before we arrived and value added to our experience enabling us to purchase gourmet pork sausages and farm fresh eggs. We supported his children by purchasing firewood which they delivered to our campsite and to our amazement we received a huge neatly staked pile of firewood. The sawdust toilet is a bonus as is the fire pit with its adjustable cooking plates. The campsite has mature trees providing dapple shade and is near a dam providing nice sunsets almost over the water! Thanks Steven for a providing a private and peaceful camp for our enjoyment.

We really enjoyed staying at Steve and Julia's campsite - very peaceful and close access to great bushwalks in the surrounding national parks. Would love to visit again some day!

Great stay! Our lovely hosts provided excellent directions and met us as we arrived. The site is level with beautiful views and a tranquil setting. Perfect for those that want to be off-grid.

Great campsite! Flat, spacious, great sunset views, loads of wildlife, toilet and great fire pit! This is a gem of a location with friendly hosts. Good fire wood and great meat are extras but worth ever penny. Highly recommend as a base to explore the many attractions around the area.

Peaceful & comfortable private campsite in the trees overlooking a damn.
The toilet was simple sawdust style, clean but quite basic depending on what you are used to. There is a great fire pit with grill, hot plate (not working at the moment) and a spot to hang your billy.
Steve was super speedy communicating with us on our last minute booking, he came past to make sure we were all good and was able to sell us some of their sausages and steaks. Sirloin was great cooked over the fire same night!
Highly recommend if you need somewhere private & simple to spend the night.

Our family of 4 loved the camp site and property. It’s a stunning bush block with healthy cattle and wildlife a plenty (wedge tailed eagles, kangaroos, wallabies, frog chorus & more). Stephen, your host provides an immaculate, exclusive campsite with plenty of firewood and a great campfire setup. The bush loo is very clean and well maintained.

This was our family's second stay at Old Forest Camp and we cannot recommend it highly enough! Steven and his family are so welcoming and took us around to help feed all the new baby piglets and the chickens. The camp fire and supplied wood were great after a long day. The location is stunning and we loved waking up and looking out to see all the cows and their new calves. Perfect base to explore Stanthorpe and the granite belt region. We will definitely be back AGAIN!

Superb location way off the road, very close to all the attractions of Stanthorpe and local national parks. The site itself is magnificently set overlooking the dam with a great fire setup with Billy holder grill and hotplate all meticulously clean. Sawdust toilet very clean and “stink free”Wonderful hosts very friendly and available. Good value cart of wood delivered to the site, chopped and prepared by the children for pocket money. So highly recommend you purchase at least one of these. A beautiful, relaxing location very laid-back billions of stars to look at at night fog over the dam in the early morning you would think you were millions of miles away. Plenty of room for individual campers or groups,highly recommended for your next stay- we will be back, thankyou

Steven and his Family made us feel so welcome on our recent holiday at Easter weekend. The camp-site was just as advertised, just the basics of a sawdust toilet and a fire pit which was easy to use.
Next to a dam in a cleared paddock, there was a wide variety of native wildlife all around us, Rosellas, King parrots and Wallabies, but not intrusive, if you're really lucky like us you might even see a Quoll, a native to the granite belt area.
Steven and his family offered us shelter during a particularly nasty storm and we were grateful for the assistance, as well as offering some delicious farm butchered meat and fresh eggs.
We would recommend camping here if you're after a no-frills, private camp site with plenty of room to run around and wander, close to stanthorpe (about 20 minute drive), Storm King dam, and Girraween national park.
Make sure to check the weather as it can be a bit windy in the valley, careful consideration to where you choose to set up camp, but don't let it stop you from enjoying this beautiful area.

We had a lovely time at the new named Banksia Springs. We had a beautiful spot overlooking the dam with a good fire from free provided fire wood. The family here are very generous with their time showing and teaching us about their farming values and animals. Ruth (the 4 year old!) was very informative!
It was interesting to know they sell their produce direct to consumer, and now after seeing how well kept the animals are I'd definitely recommend!
